Have the chest stick around for a day for those who weren’t able to attend the event. Maybe even 12 hours.

Problem solved. People happy.

I’d also like to add that a majority of the players only really care about the loot.

-If you got DC’d then having the chest stick around for X amount of time is fair.
-If you weren’t able to attend the event for various reasons; also fair.
-If you just want the chest; fair enough reason for me!

This is the best solution. Those that have things to do and missed it(along with the other two events) don’t really care about doing the event and only care about the chest. Leave the chest for everyone for12-24 hours.

Because the player base starts feeling alienated with one-time events. Sometimes it’s just out of their control whether they can participate or not.

People here have done the event yet disconnected at the last second or got bugged when they fell into the lava. They’ve done the event for 3 hours and not a single piece of loot.

As someone who got the chest, I would like to see some method put in for other players to obtain the special Karka Chest – The one that contains the karkashell earring, and the karka inventory chest. But it should be something that requires a fair amount of work. That event took hours to go through.

Because I and tons of others got the Phase 1 items at our leisure when they were finally not bugged. Explored the island at our leisure and the only reward any of us got because we weren’t on at a specific time is a jug of karma a Daily reward. It really isn’t fair. I will gladly fight the boss and do the work at my leisure as well if they let us.

I had no problem doing any of the Halloween stuff because I could do it when I could and not when it was convenient for Anet.

I would of thought this is how it would be handled in the first place. I try to attend these one-time only events but I don’t remember being rewarded with anything other than a cinematic during Halloween, for example (though I guess that event was considered a seasonal as opposed to an opening).

Yet having three one-time events in a row, with the final (perhaps most important) occuring on what would be 7am Monday morning for me, seems to be a little bit of a letdown.

Even if they just give those who didn’t make it/get the chest some sort of consolation event/prize would be a nice gesture, but my bet they won’t do it.

Because the event was run at 9am monday my time did the first event part one part two through bugged quests waiting etc for wo ho a jug same as if i just did my daylies
I go to work and read during a break people that could be playing get awesome drops.

Do 90% of the event get next to nothing one part non repeatable at a time a lot of people cant log on gives kitten precoursers some thing about that needs balance.fixing.

I think it will need some tweaking, because if I log in now and can just waltz to the chest in 2 minutes not having to fight anything, the people that survived the lag-fest for a few hours may be a bit annoyed if I pull a precursor or something that they didn’t. :P

Perhaps a mailed gem shop chest + key as a “sorry you couldn’t make it” thing is an alternative, but then I’d just feel like they’re pitying me. [shrug] I’m ok with not getting anything since I wasn’t there. They just have to make sure the people that were there will get stuff – which I think they’re already addressing on the dev thing. Keep an eye on your mail.

I just got home from work, missed the event just shy of 6 hours. I ‘d be happy with just nabbing the chest if it were around for a limited time after. It’s completely unfair to people that have prior engagements, especially when they loot rewards are so good. I really do feel cheated by one time event stuff with no way to complete it after the fact. There has to be some kind of a solution or alternative to people that canot be logged in. for at least a limited amount of time.

I honestly don’t give a flying kitten if people could just grab the chest right now without putting in some work. I for sure know people feel HELLA cheated just because of one-time events.

Why do you feel cheated? I had a good time in the event. My server (and overflow) did well, the fight was hard and took a long time. So having 4 exotics was a just reward. If everyone were able to just come into the hive once it was over and grab the loot, it’d just diminish the reward for everyone who’d spent ages doing it.

If that is selfish then I’m sorry. I just don’t see why people should get rewards for doing nothing.

Problem is a lot of us did part 1…got nothing. We did part 2..got nothing. Miss part 3 and thats when they hand out the uber rewards? wtf?

The only people who seem to have an argument are the people who WERE there but got disconnected before they could loot. Those are the only legitimate complainers IMO and I hope Anet helps them. Everyone else is basically asking for free loot, which isn’t fair to the people who actually trudged through the event and doesn’t make a lick of sense.

All the time fighting through bugged out NPC’s to finish the scavenger hunt should account for something. Staring at these useless items in my inventory is just rubbing salt in the wound.

I participated during the lag fest on Friday (don’t recall one on Saturday), but what does that have to do with today?

Maybe Anet should just put an NPC in LA that gives out Karka hats for the people who didn’t participate for whatever reason like during Halloween. I mean they already have the baby karkas getting attached to your head, just turn it into a hat. That sounds fair to me.

Didn’t say that. I think each part should have given rewards. But part 1 and 2 were very short and easy compared to part 3.
I missed part 2, so wouldn’t have expected a reward for that.

You could do explorable dungeons (getting the daily path bonuses) and buy 4 exotics in about 3 hours.

It’s a simple matter that a number of people had no opportunity to even participate in the event… some of us would gladly put in the work that others did if we were able to.

I understand that this event was of limited duration because it is primarily focused on the new content added to the game, so it’s not as desirable to have it run for as long as a holiday event, but I feel that its duration was too short. It went from the start of Phase 1 to the end of Phase 3 in a bit over 48 hours.

I sympathise with you mate. If you were unable to attend, that is unfortunate. Hopefully you will be able to make the next one-time event.

However, even your argument is why I am saying what I am. No one cared to do the event, and people are less bothered about missing it, than missing on the loot. Why should ‘you’ get something if you didn’t earn it. 4 exotics isn’t even that big a deal. — On a side note. If you’ve been playing since beta and only have 4 exotics, you are doing something wrong.

Having the chest stick around is the least ANET could do for making such a shotty event. It was laggy and it was buggy. We’ve all seen the threads about this.

The Lost Shores pales in comparison to the Mad King events.

1) MK could be enjoyed throughout the week at the player’s leisure.

2) The One-Time event during MK was only a cut scene. It was not something that alienated people through tangible rewards.

The Lost Shores just seemed rushed and uncalled for. It was a huge let down right after the epicness that MK offered.

I was in the event for 2 hours before getting a d/c and not being able to log in again for several hours,i am seriously upset about not getting anything but a 20 silver repair bill and 2 hours of mind boggling lag.

Then repeat the event. It IS absurd. And considering how bugged the NPC’s were, and how laggy and disappointing both Friday and Saturday’s “invasions” were, ya they are worth the reward. Either that or enjoying yourself through a 2.5 hour super fun event is NOT worth the exotic gear received. Honestly that last event was less painful than Friday OR Saturday.

Even so, I would like to see the event repeated if it was so much more enjoyable that the other stuff.

Why should there be one time events in a global game?

ask yourself that.

WoW has been doing phased content for years. Events that change the world can easily be phased events and participated in by everyone in any time zone and at any time.

Problem is they seem to like 12 sunday for every event which is 9am monday here
part1 gold reward part 2 gold reward part 3 gold reward would work formost people

part 1 one copper part 2, 1 copper part 3, 4 gold and 1/4 of your legendary is what has people grinding thier teeth.

Anet should look into the effect of one time events. Ppl who did not make it for the event should have some consolation. maybe a 10 slot bag or some RNG yellow and below equipment.

Make an NPC in LA that gives out karka hats. That’s fair consolation, it’s what they did during Halloween.

I think you’re missing the points.

People aren’t asking for “YAY FREE GIFTS” necessarily, but for a fair chance to gain them too. I started the finale: Was killed 15 times by invisible Karkas, had 12 silver of repair bill and had to disconnect at part 2 (where we had to lead the ancient Karka to his nest) because :
1. It was unplayable, invisible ennemies, lag fest, my computer was having a really hard time
2. I had to do real life obligations too
3. Was taking forever.

So in other words, this 1 hour and a half is wasted? Just wasted 12 silver on repair bill for nothing in return because of things that were out of my control? I did phase 1 on Friday. Fought the lag and couldn’t complete the scavenger hunts because of the bugged NPCs on my server. Attended the Phase 2 on Saturday, it didn’t even start lol.
Got nothing for taking the time to go through the lags of phase 1 & 2 and the one phase I can’t finish is the one with the full rewards?
I tried to do phase 3, but like I said, unplayable. Got far through it, but not to the end. I get punched in the face for that then?

What about oceanic players for whom the events occured in the middle of the night? Their fault? Too bad your mothers got pregnant in this part of the world?

Give me a chance to fight the Ancien Karka again and I will happily do it (make it a fractal?). I’m all for having to fight this thing in order to have a loot. But don’t spit on other players just asking to have the same chance of the others. The fact the loot GUARANTEED exotic/rare weapons make it even more problematic.

And PLEASE, don’t tell me it was hard. It was just a zerg fest which required you to dodge a bit and press your skill buttons. Was far from hard. Was long, yes, but hard? No. The fractals were harder than that.

This whole event disappointed me. I logged on 20 min ago only to close the game after 5 min…

i actually just wanna partake in the event.
i did mention in various other threads before regarding the timing, and i in the end, contrary to what i had thought i’d do, i chose to sleep instead (getting up at 4am for a 2 hour event, leaving only another hour to prep for work was not as desirable).

don’t get me wrong, love the game. this event was great as well. perhaps some excution issues? definitely looking forward to seeing ANet learning from this and plan for future events!

If you were in lost shores you should get a chance at a chest.

Managed to sneak into an overflow that was still doing it. Epic event.

Though I noticed something I didn’t before. There is a vendor at the camp just south from the cave which offers the [Ancient Karka Shell] for 1000 x [Karka Shell].

So while many may miss out on a couple of exotics, rares, a 20-slot bag and the chance of a precursor, it’s nice to know nobody is permanently denied the most unique item to arise from this event.

The only valid reason you should get rewards should be network disconnection at final phase. The rest are selfishly and utterly opening a can of worms for the small minority asking to be catered.

Instead of asking to be catered, here are some positive news for all of you:
1. Reddit highly rumors anet will implement a precursor scavenger hunt soon
2. dungeon / island is permanent so you can hunt shells
3. if you trade in a couple of shells you can exchange them for accessory replicas you would have otherwise dropped from the chest.
