I’ve had to work a lot this weekend, specifically when these events started, and thus I’m a little out of the loop with what exactly has happened in my beloved Tyria. I was able to do phase 1 until I ran into some bugs, phase 2 wasn’t all that direct for me, and I completely missed phase 3 due to it being a multi-hour event and I had to work—no big deal though. You win some, you lose some.

  • What was suppose to have changed Tyria forever? To my knowledge, aside from a new level 80 map, our activities are the same as they were before.
  • I remember reading something about Precursors being easier to obtain, and maybe even in a scavenger hunt form. What is this?
  • I’ve explored the new map a bit—not a lot due to sleep and work. Seems awfully empty with just, what, four events? On the plus side, I enjoy the difficulty of the enemies and the scenery—I admire it. Will this map eventually become more populated?

I think the map being new to Tyria is what has changed.

I’m also a little confused on their statements: if you read the patch notes here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-November-15-2012/first#post775407

you’ll see that they did patch (or not patch) a bunch of things, in terms of “changing things forever” I really only noticed these things, yet they all seem to just be slightly better drop rates (below trimmed their quotes to try to be brief).

1) New dungeon rewards have been added to all dungeons.
2) slightly increased the drop rate on Legendary precursor weapons from the Mystic Forge from both Rares and Exotics.
3) The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot.
—- though I don’t think the new content was included in this at all considering the amount of Vets and Champs killed during the weekend event and the little to no loot that people received.
4) The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.
5) The Shatterer encounter in Blazeridge Steppes has been updated.
— He takes a bit longer to kill, spawns a lot more branded enemies, and hits players with the crystal prism move more. He went from a 5min fight to maybe a 15 min fight.
6) All the items found in the Consortium Chest can also be obtained as rare drops from any creature from the new Lost Shores event.
--- Not saying this isn’t true, and I’m not saying that I need to get those items, I’m just curious if anyone got one of these drops. I’m fine with it being rare, but for me I was lucky if I got crab meat from a Young Karka or Veteran Young Karka. Also, is this still the case, or was this for the weekend only?

But you’re right, so far I haven’t noticed anything other than a new area.

There are 2 I can think of off the top of my head. First, a whole new species that hate us and we no longer have a lighthouse.

Oh I forgot a couple of things,

There’s a new food item: Passion fruit
A new armor item: the Karka shell
(both of which don’t have a collectable slot, and the Karka shell did not appear in the discovery tab for armorsmithing, despite saying it was a 300? lvl item)
A new dungeon: Fractals of the Mist
A new type of item: Ascended. But you only get a chance as this new rarity by running the new dungeon at lvl 10+. They have slightly better stats than exotics and have a new type of slot: infusion. Also starting at lvl 11-12 or so in the new dungeon you need to have this new gear to survive because of the new condition, Agony. I’m speaking this from hearsay as I haven’t gotten that deep myself yet.

But your point still stands. I still find all the new content fun, but they hyped it up more than they should have.
