Skipping Stones <3
I’ll pass that along to the artists/designers that worked on it. I love it too
if you keep going there’s a champ guarding a chest
Can’t seem to find it.
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
Is that zone – and hence the puzzle – permanent, or can we only do it during the event?
Finally another challenging jumping puzzle. It’s great!
its awesome, just completed it with my mate. Kudos to Anet for that one! i got zap off the champ at the end aswel OMG THANKYOU!
love the whole idea behind it, seriously great idea for this one !!
Looks like I’m gonna spend an hour or two jumping again. I love how frustrated the JP makes me feel lol.
The puzzle was awesome! (but rewards were kinda meh as usual)
Yeah, fantastic job. I’m still wondering how those boats managed to get so high up, though. Haha
We just killed the champ and opened the chest. All blues -.-
Haven’t completed it yet. I must say, contrary to what some people are saying, that the puzzle is quite annoying, because of the strict timing component. I am all for difficult, tricky, long puzzles. But when the difference between success and DIAS is determined by the fraction of a second you are too slow with a particular jump, well, it gets quickly frustrating.
Mad king’s clocktower was a masterpiece, but this one is just straight up disgusting.
I cant make it if I have to constantly guess if im running on combat speed or normal speed. Your speed is constantly switched around which is very, very annoying and just plain dumb.
I enjoyed it after I figured out what to do with the geysers. I am now searching for the other puzzle.
Edit: Found the other puzzle, it’s at Pearl Islet. Much shorter and simpler then Skipping Stones.

Can anyone be so kind to tell me where the puzzle is with a waypoint possibly?
I really like the quality of the maps, but this one is causing me so much pain XD Not to mention the players randomly cast speed buffs in the middle of the floating platforms, causing me to mistime my jumps.
This is brutally hard. I feel that, while making it challenging is good, ANet might want to look at catering for the general public. Mere 20% of skilled players among the whole Tyria population definitely do not represent the ‘general public’.
2 inherent problems with this.
1. Other people and terrain screw with your view so hard during this.
2. Swiftness, and the fact people love using it around you..
SE of map is the other
I liked it =) very nice and unique puzzle
I liked it, not nearly as hard as the clock tower was with the laggy last portal jump. This one still required good timing and thought as well as a couple tries to “figure” out a few jumps.
The extra Champ chest at the end was a great touch!
K nailed it. I must say the ‘journey’ is pretty cool on this one. It’s just the combat speed (bug?) that randomizes your chances of success.
Love jumping puzzles but hate doing it on my asura when I have 8 charr and norn standing on me blocking my view =/
It’s bloody difficult… Or I’m doing something wrong…
Problem with this I found. You can dodge forward twice so the steam misses. So basically jump halfway through, dodge steam, and then jump on rock platform. Basically skips the need to jump on those rocks till you reach the second half of the steam powered platforms lol.
How about telling the rest of us where you found it?

Skipping Stones Puzzle – Southeast of the Lion Point Waypoint. Go around the the rock wall to the south and head for the Geysers.
Under New Management Puzzle – Pearl Islet Waypoint. Climb to the top of the building the Consortium NPC’s are in.

Ok so 35 minutes ago I was saying it is ‘brutally hard’, I tried a few more times, this time there are less players around me, and they don’t randomly cast speed buffs anymore. I made it fairly quickly. So I think the main problem lies in the speed buffs, because an unexpected one will mess up all your rhythm. Probably something that ANet should look at (ie. disable all skills like the MK Tower)
Feels so good having completed that Skipping Stones!

Finally, a decent human being. Thank You!

I’m having the same trouble with this JP as with clock tower (other players). I’d be happy to wait until there are fewer people but I’m worried about the champ at the end. Is he solo-able?
There is short cut to pretty much cut out doing the lava rock thingie part all together.
After that, its not too hard.

The champ at the end is after the jumping puzzle, on the island across the way. You can get there by jumping across the wooden planks on the other side of the boat.
You don’t have to ever encounter that mob if you choose not to. It’s just guarding a second regular chest.

Loved the jumping puzzle!
Some hints for people having trouble –
If you have stability the geysers wont knock you around.
If you don’t make a section fast enough you can run along the geysers themselves.
For the first section if you stand on the last geyser and pop stability you can jump up onto the floating rocks (of the second last geyser) then onto the rocks of the last one and up to the second section.
The second section is only 3 rocks long but speed buffs still help with it.
The third section you can do the whole thing without using the floating rocks at all and still get onto the safe platform in the middle.
Once you get up on top of the cliffs it can be unclear where to go, keep following the coast to the southwest ,after a longish jump down you will see some more obvious ledges again.
After you get the achievement and splendid chest run down though the boat to the bottom and you will see some planks of wood leading over to the island. There is a champion guarded chest on the very top of the island.
Hope that helps!

I finally got some sweet redemption from not finishing the clock tower. The skipping stones were epic, and every time I thought I made it to the end, there was plenty more to go lol.
did u guys notice that right after the puzzle u can jump above the wrecked ship
and cross to the opposite hill? there is a small chest on the top of the hill !!
and also a champ spawn right after i claim the chest

That’s not making sense to me. How do you dodge from little rock platform to little rock platform? I’m not getting past the first 4 floating rocks at the very bottom, mind you. But dodge just droppeed me in a cauldron, so clearly I misunderstood something.
Took me maybe 30-min to get the hang of this one. Clock Tower took much longer to master. But yep, waiting on more folks to come fight this champion.
I didn’t really get much out of today’s big event, but this puzzle cheered me right up. Real sense of accomplishment.
Jumping puzzle was entertaining, but lacked R&D. Mid way through the puzzle if you fall off you can get back onto the geysers, and at that point you dont even need to jump on the rocks to get to the boat, simply jump across the geysers before they blow the rocks up and jump up to the boat. Not even a challenge, very disappointed. The idea was great, i’ll give the developer that much.
This puzzle is much easier then people give it credit for, just keep trying and think outside the box if you can’t make the rock jumps perfectly.
Any vid of it yet?, i’m terrible at these and just like to see how they go.
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
Is this able to be passed by entirely? Some of us don’t have perfect reflexes anymore, and after almost an hour, I’m done with it. Not all of us are 17 anymore here, this is just ridiculous. Glad if you liked it, but me, it’s borderline game breaking. I’m seriously regretting my purchase right now.

You regret buying this game over a jumping puzzle that has no effect on this event or the overall game? I’m in my thirties and did the puzzle..
Could have used better rewards from the chest though.
You know… some challenge/reward balance. It’s disappointing going through a moderately hard puzzle just to get what you can get easily from a common monster.
Did Anet learn nothing from the clocktower? This puzzle is twice as hard for Asura with all of the charrs and norns blocking the view, warriors giving swiftness to everyone and making peoples jump (skills weren’t available at the clocktower) + there is a mist that makes it harder to see.
Seriously?
P.S. I did complete the clocktower multiple times, but this one is just ridiculous.
I don’t know what reflexes have to do with age? I’m 30 and i easily crossed these stones (without abusing the fact you can cross geysers in part 2 of the puzzle). If you don’t have the reflexes for jumping puzzles, then don’t do them! They can’t be ground breaking for your purchase, cause all these puzzles are, are 10 achievement points, cause the rewards are ALWAYS utter crap.
And besides, this jumping puzzle is more a memory test in my eyes rather than a reflex test. Just memorize the stuff up to the point you’re getting, and just progress that way. That’s how most people did CT as well.
Thank you for an awesome puzzle. I enjoyed every step of it.
Do you also pass along to the designer when users say it makes them want to jump off a cliff in real life?
Feels more like a chore or a punishment than a leisure activity.
