There seems to be a great many people who think getting a precursor means a legendary weapon or that a precursor is a legendary weapon. Ummm…no!! Precursors are special exotics that can be used to create legendary weapons and have stats not much better than a common exotic which only costs a few gold (Typically between 2 and 5). Even if you have the precursor, it will still cost hundreds of gold, over 1,000,000 karma points, over 400 skill points and untold amounts of time at the mystic forge to craft the legendary. For straight-up stats, legendaries only have a fancy skin, and only support a single type of character build so personally, I can’t see ever pursuing this. 100 or 200G one might make selling a precursor on the TP is no small chunk of change, but it’s not a huge amount either. A level 80 character can burn through this rather quickly with traveling, upgrades and repairs.
As for legendaries…I wish there were more legendaries that could better support a wider range of character builds…perhaps 3-4 per weapon class (Exception…There are 3 legendary greatswords, but you have to build the first two and use them to make the third). Also legendaries should, well, be legendary in every way, including stats (At least 15-20% better than exotic). Currently legendaries (Comparing the legendary staff The Bifrost to the exotic Carrion Pearl Quarterstaff) only add about 8% to base damage/stats, which does not even come close to justifying the enormous cost and time required.
So will a legendary weapon make a difference in a fight, perhaps, but at that level…rarely, it’s a marginal gain. Does the gain justify the cost? You tell me…
