Tyria changed?
I also have this sneaky suspicion that this can’t be over. I mean, nothing is explained. What are the karka, and where do they come from? Are they somehow connected to the Dragons? Where did the Consortium come from, exactly? Why haven’t we ever heard of them?
So many unresolved questions.
Perhaps the change is that so many people were dissappointed with the bugs, resets, untested content and new build when people were still trying to take down the ancient karka for their first time that each server will lose half of its population via people not logging in anymore.
It was not a physical change, but one of mentality. We changed from heroes with a just cause, to villains who provoke a species, and then exterminate them. Genocide is all we are good for now.
The promotional materials also referred to the karka as nearly indestructible, and we would have to solve an “epic mystery” to even figure out how to damage them. Nope, and nope. I’m guessing the quests of Phase One that a small percentage of the population were able to complete (not for lack of trying) were supposed to be the epic mystery. The karka are just typical monsters. Marginally tougher, maybe, but you don’t need to be a mystic to even damage them.
Technically Tyria changed since Lion’s Arch now houses a portal to the Fractals of the Mists, but much of the content of the promotional page turned out to be indulgent, attention-grabbing falsehood.

we have new zone …. maybe they add something there or at least some part of lore
Maybe they were referring to everyone getting pissed off.
So Consortium invades Karka land and upsets them, then they attack LA in retailiation, then Lion Gaurd and friends experiment on them in terribly inhumane ways, then we push them out, then we attack their home land and slaughter them wholesale including their mom. Oddly enough we all profited off this. Convenient!
Imperialism and war profiting for the win!
But part of me really feels bad for the Karka…
Lastly, nothings really changed. Sure we have a new lvl 80 zone but no one is really going to go there ever again since there really isn’t anything to do there that can’t be done elsewhere easier. Not many events, no real items to go after, low mob diversity, and all the mobs are super hard for little payout. Only real reason to go back is the JP and get the few Ori nodes there. Back to cursed shore I guess.

Guys. The lighthouse in Lion’s Arch was destroyed. Am I the only one shaken to my very core by this?
Oh yeah, Tyria changed forever. It’s now filled with so many angry heroes.
Didnt we got a new zone? thats pretty changed from not having a zone there
yup it changed forever, precursor weapons are cheaper now. xD

wat? “just cause”? Dragons were on Tyria loooong before even our Gods.
We are the villains, and very efficient at it.
light house destoryed, asura krew finds way to get to stabilize parts of the mists giving us access to the fractals of the mist. New enemy assaults lion’s arch. We discover a new island, we establish travel routes between lion’s arch and this new island. We get to know about the consortium! We investigate and discover they’re willing to do nasty things for self profit. We go about and kill an ancient karka which in itself is a big deal!
Isnt all that change in the world? A world changing event doesnt always need to be of Cataclysmic proportions! Considering this was just a “little” monthly update not a full on expansion I think that was quite a lot of change personally!
Where is the hoiday destination the consortium were so loud about. “Coming soon” “Unique holiday destination” “brought to you by the consortium”. Also consortium NPC’s suggest being in competition with BLTC, but the Consortium trader on the island represents BLTC.

The destination is Southsun Cove, more specifically Pearl Islet, on the south-east. If you go there, you will see merchants from the Consortium (drinks, souvenirs and stuff) and tourists in swimsuit.

Not really, It always ruined my view. Looks better now. Thank you Ancient Frisbee, eh Karka.
Honestly, I don’t see anything changed. I was hoping to see more Karka in other coastal zones (they are fleeing or preparing for another attack), and more things to do in the new zone. Everything is the same for now, just one new tiny zone with 6 events has been added.
Sorry, but I’m not thrilled with that.
Changes that occurred:
1) Lighthouse in LA is destroyed
2) Rockslide on Southsun Cove…
3) Volcanic hole in the ground with an ever-reminding statue of the Ancient Karka.
That didn’t change the world forever. It’s like saying that Mad King changed world forever because the Lion statue was destroyed. I admit, it’s changed, but it’s not a drastic change that most of us were hoping to see.
Tyria will never be the same because of all the people that are gonna ragequit the game and go back to pandaland rofl
We got a new dungeon and zone, along with some pvp maps. That’s a pretty big change. What more we you expecting?
Haven’t tried the dungeon yet, but the PvP map is pretty good. IMO the new zone is too small, with too few events. Personally, I hope that they’ll work on this zone in the future and add more stuff to it.

Everything you mentioned were additions to the world, not changes. Adding things to Tyria certainly doesn’t mean that the world of Tyria is changed, it just means that along with everything that already existed in Tyria, now there are some extra things, but what was already there is still unchanged.
Do you understand where I’m coming from?
