Veterans and Champions
Weird. Were people supposed to be getting drops from them?
It’s possible that “maybe” we werent supposed to get drops from them during the event. But I guess that we should be getting some now. Is anyone getting drops from them?
I am not getting them from the large ones but the veteran young karkas seem to have the best drop rates.
I got nothing from the Vets and Champions, but I expect this is because my contribution ratio of damage was so tiny compared to the massive zerg swarm attacking them that I just didn’t qualify. Instead, I focused on cleaning up the smaller enemies around them.
I got drop from Veterans and Champions but only in small groups (not in world events – almost impossible to get enough dmg to get exp and drop).
Same. I was solo though. Not sure whether partying is better.
Partying IS better because the game seems to take the total amount of damage contributed by all party members on a single foe when calculating qualification for XP/rewards, but again, the health of Vets/Champs is still so high that it may not be enough when there’s a zerg involved.
Yeah it seems with a massive zerg, and you’re not a party, you most likely will not get credit or drops. I noticed as soon as I joined a party, I got drops from everything. I don’t know if anet is aware of this or not.
The thing is, the mobs are so hard they routinely require many people to down them in a timely fashion. Apparently this is screwing people because they can’t do enough damage. 90% of all the vets and champions I have taken down have given neither experience nor loot.

Even with a five person group we only got either shells or clam meat from any of the Champion or Veteran Karka we fought.
I think they just have a very, very bad drop rate. Which is weird and makes people want to avoid champs like the plague instead of getting excited to kill them.
I don’t understand why these vets and champs should have such bad drop rates. Karka vets are far more challenging than regular vets.
But the biggest problem is obviously people not getting any credit for the kills. If this was fixed, I’m sure the problem would be mostly solved.
Well that’s the issue.
The ANet devs said they had addressed the issue of bad (i.e. low) drop rates on champs and vets. It seems to have worked on regular champs and vents but not these two.
I think the issue is that these mobs essentially die twice, but what do I know. Would be nice to get that looked at.
I made off with two whites from vets and largely no experience from killing anything (vets or champs).
Of the hundreds of Karka out there, I only got kill credit for 50 of them. I was able to keep track of this using my daily kill tracker since I hadn’t played since it reset.
I don’t understand how this could happen. It baffles the mind.
