ANet has implied certain specific changes on multiple occasions without going into detail. We also have some official info to go on.

Hence I wanted to hear what you’re expecting from the “Lost Shore” patch due for November 15th.

#Content
-A level 80 zone, filled with new events and loot.
-A new Dungeon. Probably harder and better designed than current ones.

#Game changes
-A “fix” to the Precursor issue. Either an alternative way to receive or increased drop-rates. Anyhow, they should become a lot more abundant.
-Something to discourage people from farming Plinx non-stop. Maybe by making the “Lost Shore” more attractive or directly nerfing the Plinx chain.
-Possibly a new WvW scoring algorithm, but unlikely.
-Minor UI enhancements.
-Ability to salvage Karma gear.
-Adjustments to mob-respawn rate.

#Balance
-A Nerf to Thief Burst builds. Probably by nerfing Mug.
-A Nerf to Guardian Bunker builds.
-Various profession changes.
-Buffs to Rangers.
-Revised Underwater Combat.

In a few more words, perhaps something about the DSD. The content they’re teasing seems to imply that and anything that enhances the world’s lore is what’s most attractive to me.

I watched the ‘New Content’ interview with one of the devs- The Lost Shore will be an instanced Island map like that of the Halloween Labyrinth. Events, puzzles and stories will take place on the island over the course of the weekend and it will culminate in existing maps being changed in some way. There was nothing mentioned of permanent new map so im not expecting one to be introduced (although a new 80 zone would be great!).

Also confirmed is a ‘super-dungeon’ (my words not theirs!)- its a brand new dungeon that is designed to be a lot longer than regular dungeons. The difficulty starts off easy and ramps up harder and harder the closer to the end you get. The final boss/chest/whatever will drop loot that is either not available anywhere else or not readily available outside of the dungeon. Im thinking gem store items such as the Mad King’s Dungeon chest had but im hoping for something more.

These are my ideas on what might become available for Lost Shores:

  • A crazy dungeon that’s going to reward a legendary precursor upon completion
  • New unique craftable weapons and armor (as well as new weapons and armor in general)
  • A new level 80 zone that’s going to be great for everyone
  • New enemy mobs not yet seen before
  • Improved chest rewards
  • Improved drop rates on certain materials
  • 1 or 2 new jumping puzzles

One can only hope I can’t wait!

I would like (In no order)

1, Necro skills Fixed
2, More skins (especially for Medium armour)
3, Maybe a change to how bleed works (Having more than 2 condition damage players in a group/Party is currently pointless as the cap is easily reached at 25)
4. People moan about BS Thief, so maybe increase init cost for backstab skills but balance this with giving thieves better Condition damage/poison abilities (so not making them totally useless)
5. New Tames/Pets
6. 2 Handed axes

Theif class have been already nerfed. Assasin signet is decreased from +150% cd on next skill to +15% dmg on next five attack.

A class with no def no hp if you remove the dmg too what thief become…
It like tell an assasin to murder someone with a not sharped knife.
Btw from your post i bet you are a Ranger and want all your counter nerfed.

Don’t be ridiculous with nerfing thief and guardian.
They’re not imbalanced at all.

If they ever nerf them further, many people include me, are going to rage very badly. Have you even tried playing them in PVE at all? Thief are very weak in PVE. Guardian has very low HP. Bunker build isn’t “bunker” at all. You just don’t know the strategy to counter their retaliations/aegis. Retaliation and aegis are vital for guardians to survive in PVE and dungeons. Without them, they’re not “guardians”.

I guess your main is a ranger, which is why you want a buff to your own class.

I’m really sick of people demanding to nerf thieves and guardians because they don’t know how to play their own class in pvp. They don’t care about players who have their main as guardian or thief.

I am having the same dream as well, I really hope they fix the pet AI as I have always been a fan of pet classes. Wish the elemental pets where not on a timer and if rangers had more to offer those would be the 3 classes I would play non stop.

Re-adding the armor sets and missing armor pieces that were removed from PvE that are available in PvP, as karma rewards or dungeon rewards, and makeover kits
It doesn’t make sense to add brand new armor sets when there’s already a bunch (arguably some of the best) that have already been made that we can’t even get as it is.

I, too, can dream: whale mounts… that fly!

I expect it will be more nightmarish, though. Some crazy Asura will open a dimensional portal into a realm of water and all of Tyria will be flooded and every zone in the game will forevermore be underwater. Hence the ‘lost’ shores thing: “We had shores, once, but they were lost when some crazy Asura…”

Anyway, I do hope there’s something more about the whales, whether they fly or not.

If I understood this interview with Johanson correctly, that new uber dungeon won´t be on the isle. But that´s irrelevant anyway.

What I´m most curious about is actually what mobs it will have, maybe even introduce.
When I look at all these teasers it seems to be something “spiderish”.

I expect an event with a lot of bugs and a couple of boring champions with too much hp. Oh yeah and a new dungeon with ugly light armor as usual and boring mechanics.

To me Lost Shores is gonna be the last chance I give to Anet. I’m so tired of this I feel like I played 150-200 hours of beta where I reported every bug and sent a lot of reports for nothing as the game is more buggy than it was back then and major issues are still not addressed.

I really hope the new zone is designed a lot lot better than Orr. That the designers think of fun game play, rather than how to make people freakin hate Orr.

I’d like it to be gameplay-challenging. I think most all of us, when we suffer Orr, we do it in kitten magic-find gear.

But the z-axis shennanigans coupled with the worst camera in MMO history… I just hope there’s a place to get 400 mats, orichalcum, ancient wood, etc. that’s not un-fun.

1) Instance that bots can get moved to, forever allowing them to run their paths without annoying anyone
2) more armor choices/styles
3) more choices with swimwear and town clothes
4) more friends
5) monthly multiples! like, 2x karma week, or 1.5x gold day (similar to double faction/xp days)

i think a lot of you guys are expecting miracles..game has been out for two months. I think some classes will get some overhauls, there will be a new dungeon and the island will be a small place within a zone that we can travel to..nothing huge, just imo.

That was a buff.

And if you actually played a thief you’d understand they do need changes.

Personally I’m hoping for some fixes for necro, anything really.

And something about this broken tagging system, broken condition system, and hopefully a reason to go back to older zones so they don’t become completely obsolete. Along with many events.

My guess is 2-4 maps in the Lost Shore area. Probably one opening up more of that map with the island that we access through storyline.

I also expect some kind of Meta Event to feature either a giant turtle, kraken or whale. I am assuming this from the pics on the posters. :P

More than likely it will be just more Risen…..

What I really want sometime in the future is MORE dinosaur type creatures. No RPG ever goes down that road……heck or even mammoths, sabertooths, anything prehistoric is good.

are two different things.

i expect more fluff content
mainly
platforming stuff

an dunsubstantiative other stuff that doesn’t really help with what people have been asking for since beta, or what has been promised in teh years since 2007.

basicallly what we saw in the halloween event that served to drive so many people away, with alot of balance changes that people are pinning their hopes on now, but will be raging about once they drop.

also expect major game breaking bugs.

what i hope for?

i hope we will see fun and good and useful content. i hope we will see changes to cotnent flow in existing areas to ease alts and new players alike. i hope we will see the orbs back in wvw. i hoep we see a change to teh halloween books that allows me to put an orb in it instead of realizign i have to still grind out the personal story yet again to get the same stats on a back slot item that i can orb up.

the biggest thing on my wishlist is standard basic raid group ui functionality. i am so sick and tired of spending so much time and effort on juggling and organizing groups in wvw guild sessions i just don’t want to do wvw at all anymore.

Nothing, except what they’ve officially announced. Modest balance adjustments. Lots of bug fixes. A new area. A new PVE mode. Better incentives for hitting dungeons and world bosses. Some changes to PVP. Maybe a few QoL adjustments.

I try not to expect any more than what’s officially confirmed. That way, I’m never disappointed, and if they do give me more, I’m pleasantly surprised.

Just 1 thing i wanna see, a simple fix to the capping system in WvWvW and sPvP (as explained here). Doing that alone would fix the supposed “bunker” issue and make the pvp a lot better.

I’m expecting a very small island, a very hastily thrown together dungeon, and some events of a similar scale and quality to Halloween (which I thought overall was a pleasingly ambitious and entertaining event, even if some bits didn’t quite click).

I think that’s an achievable expectation and I’m unlikely to be disappointed in it.

Anything over and above that will be delicious candy.

The kitten broken events to be sorted out (hopefully permanently because it’s getting ridicules) and other bug fixes and balancing, changing loot drops for champs to make killing them worthwhile, possibly the introduction of the deep sea dragon (who as far as I’m aware isn’t even named yet), some new weapons and armour to go with the dungeon, hopefully a new area that is not full of bloody undead, lots and lots of lag, being disconnected constantly and the event becoming one giant cluster…bomb where you can barely see what going on.
I’m hoping some one will reduced the horrible clipping issues with Charr armour but I doubt it.

my expectation for the event:

1. as soon as the event pops up in lions arch my client will crash (and probably the clients of thousands of other players too)

2. as a result of (1.) the loginservers will probably go down

3. after everybody has logged back in, the instance server will die because everybody wants to do the new stuff.

summary: the same as halloween, a huge hype about an at best mediocre event

Only a few general points I really look forward to.

- A new high end zone to finally give an alternative to high level farming.

- A lot of class changes/fixes to make the PvP experience much more fulfilling.

- About >9000 threads on the forum about how disapointing everything is due to biased and unreasonable expectations.

1) A jumping puzzle that makes baddies QQ on the forum.
2) A chest or Cash shop item that contains Event-themed items.
3) People QQ about spending tons of gold on the item but not getting anything.
4) A new dungeon with good chance of getting a LOTS of exotics at the beginning of the event.
5) drop-rate nerf of (4)
6) More people QQing on the forum about not having to chance to farm those exotics
7) A one-time-only cut scene that makes people QQ
8) random guys in game and forum : " what is the point of this event? why do you spent time on doing event instead of fixing xyz?"
so yeah, I expect that this event is going to generate lot of QQs on the forum, just like the Halloween.

If you actually played thief in “PVE”, you’d understand they need buffs , not nerfs.

My expectations this November 16th:

- Revamp of end-game content. Orr is a terrible place. It’s not difficult, but it’s a very annoying place. Please learn from previously-made MMOs. They should know that players tend to avoid maps with monsters who keep knock-backing and cast conditions onto them. Orr is the only place for level 80s and it’s the worse place to be at. End-game is suppose to be fun, not punishing.

- Make grinding fun instead of a drag and camping events. Let’s face the fact you need to farm gold in order to get better-looking gears in endgame. Grinding is inevitable and you can never remove it. The best place to grind for gold is camping for Dynamic Events in Straits of Devastation. You have to camp for them. Camping = Bad. I rather continously grind mobs than camp for the events to spawn. At least in previous MMOs, you actively grind the mobs. In gw2, you have to wait for the DE to spawn and it just makes you sleepy while waiting for the intervals. It doesn’t makes you feel like playing. A good mmo must make players login and game and feel “like doing X/Y/Z today”.

- Make dungeon more rewarding. You only get tokens after finishing a dungeon give a bitter taste. In skyrim, every dungeons give you a piece of unique equipment or item. You get rewarded for everything you do. There must be constant rewards and randomness in dungeons. Don’t make them more challenging, it’s a bad shortcut that will turn off players. It’ll gain negative results if it was nerfed to be more challenging. Please make it do-able yet fun/surprising.

- Create more alternative ways to earn a legendary equipment. Do not make it easy. Make it reachable and not having to spend $1000 to get one.

Characters balancing: -Important-
- Do not nerf down characters you perceived as over-powered just because of pvp complainers. Instead, buff the classes you perceived as under-powered. In any MMO, no players like their favourite main being nerfed down which affect their playstyle and efforts in picking up skills for their combos. Especially this game is action-based.

- Buff thieves in PVE. I hardly play thief in PVE these days because it’s the most weakest class in PVE. Thieves kills mobs like snail. Thieves has low life. Thieves ended up stealthing in Orr 95% of the time because they can’t kill 3 monsters at the same time with all the constant knockbacks and snare. It’s the most undodgable place, which is why it’s the worst place for thieves.

- If they nerf down any classes, people are going to rage unlike other mmos. In other MMO, players raged if their main class was nerfed but it’s temporary because they have stats progression to distract them to think negatively. They can simply wear better gears to “think and feel” the nerf won’t affect them that much. It’s psychology.

However in GW2, there’s no such medicine. Players will feel further into negative emotions that will take away their motivations. In this game where there’s no individual progression, it will impact more than any traditional mmo. This is why they mustn’t nerf classes so inconsiderately. It will not be like other mmo where the negative emotions are temporary. Please pick up knowledge of psychology and human nature in mmo. It’ll communicate with the players. (Advice: Human nature in mmo, is just like in reality. You must know how to play around it.)

- The best solution:
Make a different set between PVE and PVP like what many people had suggested.
PVE should be left alone from any nerfs.

I’m kinda expecting to see either guesting implemented or server sizes increased, since they’re allowing the free trial. Kinda defeats the purpose if there’s no way for the guests to actually play with whoever invited them.

I’m very excited about this event, so this is what I expect:

My real life suddenly being so hectic that I am forced to miss the event, just like Halloween.
Thousands of free players roaming about with names like diarhea and suicidia- tolling and generally making the game miserable for everyone else, just like the last beta.
Lion’s Arch being such chaos, that the time I can log on, I flee for calmer shores- pretty much anywhere else.

But seriously, I expect some class changes, bug fixes, more bot bans, a new area that I might or might not ever play, depending if there is anything on it apart from the new dungeon.
Some changes to the world that might be significant or not and lastly some additions to the story/lore.
Oh and lots and lots of rage on the forums regardless of what the content actually turns out to be

  • Warrior trait/skill fixes
  • Elementalist (out of combat) weapon swap

  • More events in level 20-50 areas
  • Events reset if no progress has been made for specific amount of time

  • Costumes wearable in combat
  • New costumes
  • Lower costs for Mystic Forge recipes (fewer 250-ecto/250-orichalcum-parts recipes)
  • Most RNG removed from the game (most importantly Mystic Forge randoms)
  • Complete crafting material storage (rare components, stuff like dowels/insignias, Mystic Forge crystals/wine/etc)
  • Soulbound removed from game, most items now account-bound instead (seriously, make this game more alt-friendly!)
  • Lower BL chest drop rate (by 90% or so)
  • Either lower BL key price or make chest drops better (no bad tonics)
  • Karma vendors with meaningful stock (No I’m not a Chef, no I don’t need Bell Peppers!)
  • Account wide karma
  • Better way to LFG (GW1-style, not a dungeon finder)
  • Disable mailing items/gold. Force people to use the TP
  • Lower Waypoint costs.
  • Lower tax on TP from 15% to 10%
  • Sorting by armor type on TP
  • Better rewards from Dungeons (6-7 First-of-the-day runs for 1 weapon is silly, 23 First-of-the-day runs for a full armor set is ridiculous)
  • More stat options for Dungeon sets/weapons
  • Better voice-acting
  • Polished cutscenes
  • Silly/ugly cutscenes removed from the game (Lighthouse and boat scenes from Battle of Claw Island, most notably)
  • New max-level areas with a variety of new monsters
  • Less junk, more useful items as drops
  • (Hard-/High-end-, dungeon-, dragon-)Chests rewarding 1-2 rares/exotics rather than 6-8 trash items.
  • Magic Find removed from game

It appears I expect quite a lot.
