I don’t think I’ve logged in and out of game so much in one day. Shame on me for doing that. Had I not dc’d at the last moment in my first attempt after 3hrs of fight I think my complusive demons would have stayed locked down.
After hours of searching, got into one only to have the client crash. Seems I wasn’t the only one. Then get into another and bamm, new build. My luck sucks.
Horrible event planning, screwing the Asians out of participation. No communication at all with the Elementalist community. Anet is really starting to lose touch with its community.

I feel pretty bad for the developer team. I’ve seen idiotic kitten like this get pulled and it’s usually not the developers or designers that instigate it. ArenaNet has some really talented artists working for them, so it’s a shame that they’ll probably be looking for new jobs in half a year.
I think I haven’t even give the middle finger to bloops 2 yet.

I’m from SG too, I sent in a ticket during the Halloween Event and was told to post my feedback and suggestions in the forums. I guess its obvious now that whoever plans these events do not check the forums at all considering how much negative feedback was present at the time – even if it was only a cinematic then. This time round, they made the same mistake and going by the map chat on the various overflow servers, lots of people missed out on the chest too due to legit family and work issues, not just us Asians.
Was a close call, but i got the chest along with a bunch of others right before the server went down. Other i guess didn’t make it in time in this overflow.
I have to LOL really. It takes most good MMO creators about 3-4 years before they start taking down their own game with serious mistakes. Even so, there wasn’t much competition for those companies and people still stuck through it until they just couldn’t take it anymore or new competition came along.
For Arenanet it only took a couple of months to start taking themselves down with terrible mistakes that slap their customers square in the face. And there is a ton of competition out there these days.

EXACTLY, this is upsetting! Anet cannot made it out for their OWN MISTAKES! Bugged even well people got it running, 80% of the people didn’t know it is bugged and you simply broke their hearts and waste their time because it was a bug on overflow.
Worst event i’ve ever had the displeasure of missing (because of my timezone) terrible terrible implementation.
Would it have killed Anet to run the kitten thing all day so others could attempt, once done no more attempts, but no they’d rather incite a riot and kill the player base even more great work, time to get some smarter people working for Anet i think….

I spent my whole afternoon+evening with this crap and I sampled all the different flavors: severe lag, creature bugs, DCs, login server falling off the face of the earth, finding out the event was still live in some overflows and then getting DC or hit with new builds half way through. This is the last time I ever participate in a GW2 one-shot event, that’s for sure.

Seriously? Reset just as we were chasing boss to bottom of volcano? I was impressed by community,helping each other to find event still going on,for us that did not have chance to complete it,and disgusted by Anet slashing it in half step.Got disconected once,in middle of fight,got prompt to send report,which i did. But still, lame to get so close to end, only to get kicked in teeth. Honestly,would Anet have to declare bankruptcy if they let event ride out to end? I am pretty sure some GM could log in into overflows,and see which one has final event complited,and which one has not,instead just slashing it like this. Lame,lame from game i waited 2 years to come out,if it was not sad,would be funny

I have never seen in any MMO this level of player cooperation on a whole and I thank YOU the players for being down right awsome. Helping people get to see the event and generally playing as one giant family; truely amazing to see. Thank you.
Anyways, I really hope all the people who suffered D/Cs and other bugs get a fair re-imbursement but I would not expect them to even bother.

It was this thread that connected me to the event, and I was happy to ferry others in as well. Final stretch of the event: [Group Event] Defeat the ancient karka, and then this happens?
So after defending Lion’s Arch at 6am on Saturday morning, assaulting the karka on the island at 6am on Sunday morning, apparently I am not worthy to experience the last event of the Lost Shores because I had to be at work at 6am this morning.
Put up with lag, bugged quests and for what? A kick in the pants.
Like it or not this had to be done. Not because of the people trying to do it for the first time, but the people exploiting it repeatedly for the rewards. Don’t be mad at Arena Net, be mad at them.
ANet have already said, a few hours ago that they will be compensating players that took part in the event, but were unable to get the final chest rewards. But that it might take a little while to get everything sorted, so please be patient.
So yes, there was a problem, yes, they have admitted it, and yes, they are doing something for all the players who lost out because of it. So, as one of the people who DC’d at the last minute, ease up on the whining, please. Give them a chance to get everything sorted, and hopefully they’ll have a better idea on how things will run so we don’t have this issue next time they do an event.

Then the fix would have been to make it so that the ACCOUNT can only open the chest at the very end, only one time. Once a char on the account opens it, it remains opened for all other characters.
Very simple, very easy, and fair.
But at least give players who never got to finish the event an opportunity to do so. I was disconnected twice near the end of the event, after putting in 3+ hours. First the overflows crashed, then a new build became available. This is what has so many players RIGHTFULLY mad.

I did finally get to see and participate in the event. The server maintenance ended our attempt prematurely, much as it did a bunch of the others posting, but you guys were awesome to offer help to us like that.

I am sure a few managed to do this a few times on multiple characters but you have to realize that it takes like 3+ hours to do. So like maybe…maybe you coulda done it 4x and that’s if you didn’t D/C which happened frequently for many people. Then you have to consider the RNG involved in actually getting a pre-cursor which was what…10% or less?
Prices on pre-cursors have droped for sure but I am betting the lucky people who won the GW2 lottery are just dumping them to make fast cash. Prices will go back up to absurb amounts in a short while I bet, maybe.
If you really want to be fair, go through logs of which people who exploited this and punish them imo.

I tried to do the event this morning then realized I wouldn’t be able to complete it before I had to go to work. This is after being disconnected/crashing 3-4 times and ending up on a different overflow each time during an earlier stage of the event. I am disappointed but there is nothing I can do about it. I do hope they plan better in the future. I’m not spending another dime in this game until things like this stop happening. I am definitely not a satisfied customer.
Yes, as many other members have already expressed…. the community in this large one-time event was overwhelmingly helpful. I enjoyed the notion of everyone trying to help one another until ANet decided to screw us all over.
I didn’t try for 10 hours like someone did but I did try for about 4 hours.
In the beginning I was the first one to attack the monster and then everyone else came. I then started lagging to over 1 minute of delay! Then the server D/C’d me and kicked me from it. I then later tried at a different time because I wouldn’t be able to get any kills, hits, money because of the extreme latency issue.
Key issues which irk me:
Timing of the ‘one-time’ event. Maybe consider doing a “two-time” event where they are spread out by 6 hours or so? This would allow some flexibility for players. Also plan the event on a Saturday Midday/Afternoon for PST. That way, its Sunday in Australia and maybe Friday evening in other areas?
Latency. Says it all? Fix it. There was even a point where we all rushed in and died. The entire zerg died because the vets and champions didn’t load on our screen and rolled us.
Overflow bug(?). If you’re going to patch the bug, do it as soon as the events are over. Not after a huge time gap where we can continue to try and get to the end… only to be disconnected after your “unchanged content” new build update. Don’t lie.

ok then genius, you see this thread? i may have started it to let people know the situation, im definitely not the only one who hopped into the overflows to ferry people in…. but then why do we have to give our names to you? what could you possibly do with them? you can assume all you want but i did each event on the same character, no extra rewards, just extra help >_>
also …. seeing how the thread has turned from people seeking and granting help to immaturity as some posters have shown…. id like to request this thread be closed if any forum mods are looking
