Guild Wars 2 was just hit with another bug fixing patch, and I’m glad to see they fixed the issue with players luring the Great Jungle Wurm heads outside of their event areas. However, the lack of information on this ‘Balance Tweak’ they mentioned on the Wurm due to this fix is a little disconcerting. In general, the bug fixes that Anet release usually don’t give a lot of information about the actual fix put in place. With the amount of effort put into this Wurm boss, I, along with many others, do not want to have to test the event to find out what the fix was. If an Anet official could please elaborate on the Balance Tweak, that’d be fantastic.

Also, take it as a suggestion that I would like more detail put into these bug fixing notes in the future.

I would assume that it is tied to the exploit, and as such they will not discussed what they did to fix it. That is a common policy when it comes to fixing exploits.

I’m not sure about that. “Balance tweak” implies they did something to the fight itself. If that’s the case, I would like to know more details on what they tweaked.

The HP of the wurm heads must have been nerfed a bit considering that most kills so far was with some kind of luck with one head getting out of the area and hence the scaling issues.. Will let you know more when we get to phase 2 today.

A “balance tweak” means that they have tried to further “balance” the fight.
If that means that they have made it harder or easier can’t be said.
However it would be logical if they had made it easier since it seems that no team has killed it “legitimately” so far.

Edit: However I agree that ANet should say what’s happening. Now basically we’re at square one. The “balance fix” could mean that no tactic work anymore as far as we know. However that’s hopefully not the case.

We just did an attempt on Wurm. It seems like the HP has been reduced slightly in phase 2 (about 10%?). Still need uber DPS but it’s not as high ceiling as pre patch.

If this is true, we’ll see a lot more kills. Now If I can get my computer to stop randomly crashing I’ll be able to get in there and kill it again.

nah head hp is exactly the same.. we had one wurm head go invulnerable for like 15 seconds mid fight in Deso as well… I think the wurm will be deserted even in Deso pretty soon… The 2nd phase is annoying beyond description and these bugs don’t help.

Well we escaped today to overflow (to avoid the achievement lovers, free riders etc.) with our Deso team and got a super legit kill (our 4th) on the wurm. But everyone was on TS, there was 0 afk, etc. It went like a dream and was fun. But to set up these conditions in indeed hard.

I was there for the midnight run. Unfortunately I got disconnected the second the escort started and wasn’t able to get back in. Congrats on the kill though.

My day on Desolation:
Noon: couldn’t get into main. Missed it.
2pm: couldn’t get into main. Missed it.
4pm: couldn’t get into main. Missed it.
6pm: couldn’t get into main. Missed it.
8pm: couldn’t get into main. Missed it.
10pm: GOT INTO MAIN! Main moved to overflow. Couldn’t get into overflow. Missed it.
Midnight: Got into overflow! Got disconnected 2 seconds into the escort phase, and couldn’t get back in. Missed it.

That was a great saturday. Good night.

Content wasn’t nerfed, they merely fixed the exploit of the event w/o using the phrase “exploit”.

Based on my own personal observations having killed the Wurm both pre and post patch, I would say the HP is definitely lower.

Balance tweak and “exploit” fix are stated as two different things:

Fixed a bug that allowed each decapitated Great Jungle Wurm Head to be pulled out of its event radius. A small balance tweak has been made to account for this fix.

It’s effective health is at least 10% lower than it was before. I’m not sure what they did to fix the exploit, but I think they gave him a leash like any other creature.

doesn’t leash, if it moves out of range it goes invul
