So if you haven’t figured it out by now there is a Destinys Edge 2.0 forming. Here is who we have right now:

Braham (Norn Male) – Replaces Eir
Rox (Charr Female) – Replaces Rytlock
Marjory Delaqua (Human Female) – Replaces Logan
Lady Kasmeer (Human Female) – Replaces Snaff

As you can see the genders are the opposite of Destinys Edge 1.0 so currently we are missing:

Male Asura (coming next patch)
Male Sylvari

Now to continue further speculation. The original destinys edge had 6 members. 2 Asuras and one died. This time there is 2 humans and if we follow their opposites it means Marjory is going to die. However since everything is reversed it is more likely that Lady Kasmeer will be the one to die from the group once it is complete. Anet also set something up to kill her already : She got pricked by a thorn in the tower of nightmares by the tower itself which is deadly poisonous.

Now that that is out of the way the male asura coming is a brand new character so no speculation on who he is.

However for the male sylvari I think Canach will be joining the group!

Why do you ask? Canach isn’t really evil. He did bad things for a good cause – to help the refuges of Flame and Frost against the consortium. But who created these refuges? Scarlet of course. Canach definitely has a motive against scarlet so he would no doubt help since she started this mess.

What does he have to offer to the group? He is strangely very brilliant. To the point if he pursued his intellect we would be seeing a male version of Scarlet! He has got a knack for explosives and machinery and some biological knowledge under his belt that turned southsun cove inside out. Sounds just like Scarlet? If anyone can fight fire with fire against Scarlet it would be Canach.

Crossing my fingers for Canach most bad kitten npc in game when commando soloed molten facilities which is most likely where he got his scorched appearance. His fight in southsun was underwhelming though.

Canach is a personality to other sylvari main npcs. Caithe is jaded and morose, Trahearne is timid/considerate, Scarlet is meglomaniacal/chaotic, Faolain is cruel/manipulative and Sieran is cheerful and curious. Canach is i guess more vengeful and stubborn than other ‘regular’ sylvari. All sylvari npcs are very clever it seems, no dim ones at all, though perhaps not that wise.

Reckon the Asura will be a male engineer from Scarlets past activities (fellow student of colleges or inquest or some lab technician turncoat of hers) with some chip on his shoulder so perhaps world weary or just scarlet weary (to contast with zojja) i’d bet on a geeky male engineer lost in his own muddled ideas and designs much of the time with moments of practical inspiration + brillance, an introverted personality to counter the strong egos in the potential team.

I like this. As i’ve read the book, this is going to be good if it’s true.
It seems like the Living Story so far isn’t one story, there are smaller things coming together. There are sub stories and a lot of things going on in the background. If they could get all these sub stories into the game, so we could be a part of it that would be the best thing.

Kasmeer dies and I quit the game.

She’ll most likely die (in self sacrifice gesture after being doomed from the thorn) in part 2 or 3 to invest emotional gravitas to defeating Scarlet (atleast for Marjory if not player) She is the most likely candidate as there are 2 humans, Marjory has shown affection toward kasmeer, so her loss would impact on Marjorys self confidence and ego and rage too. Kasmeer is eye candy (so a loss to players who like her looks) with no character flaws or background story. Thus no reason to dislike her due to her portrayal, making her perfect to kill off for impact purposes. There is also a bit of a glut of powerful human mesmer (queen+ countess) npcs.

Why do the races have to be chosen from the playable 5? Why can’t a main npc character be a Largos, a Kodan or a Tengu?

So the team can fulfil same role as racial representative/link to player for future expansion, in same wasy original edge npcs did for player in the personal story. A new player race if with an expansion would add a character to this group, in a role similar to trahearne.

If Kas dies, that will make me really sad. However, it would be worse if they killed Braham, Rox or Canach, for me. Especially Braham. I surely wouldn’t want to tell Eir that I let her son get killed, possibly making her depression get even worse. I know they are not close, but Eir is trying to get closer to him and I believe that she does love him. She is his mother, after all.
I think the worst part would be Jory’s reaction. It would break my heart.

About Canach joining the group, not many things would make me happier than seeing it happen. If Kiel had to let Canach go, that would be awesome

Why do the races have to be chosen from the playable 5? Why can’t a main npc character be a Largos, a Kodan or a Tengu?

I believe it is, right now, to make the players feel affinity for the character.
But it would be cool to delve deeper into the lore of the Largos. I love that neon butterflies of the sea.

I have to agree with the predictions laid forth, however I’m not sold on the “new Destiny’s edge” idea. The original cast of Destiny’s edge, from a story perspective, is open ended and necessary for the elder dragons and the continuation of the main plot. From a business stand point the voice actors are all but impossible to get together for releases every two weeks….which is why we see these filler characters.

Marjory and Canach have no role hunting down elder dragons. Rox and Braham…perhaps, but are entirely Scarlett related from Flame and Frost.

The entire L’S season 1 cast is Scarlet oriented. It would take a large leap for them to go from the current line of revenge/meddling in Mary Sue’s plans to ridding the world of dragons.

It surely would. However, Eir is his mother, so I’m sure she would mourn anyway. She would be proud of having such a honorable, heroic son, but seeing how Eir is, she would probably also blame herself for not being there to save his life or to die with him.

Just curious, why is Faren not on this list?

Also, is it possible that if Kasmeer dies, there will be Faren, Marjory, Braham, Rox, New Asura, and, I guess , a Sylvari? I’d laugh if the sylvari is Trahearne, but I bet it will either be a reformed Scarlet or a brand new one.

I feel they did Canach a big disservice in the Southsun arch, completely destroying the mystery as the reveal was parallel with the assault, as if we were to read the first and last chapters of a book, no doubt the worst LS segment. However, it would be completely pointless to introduce him and then cast him aside, so I feel it would benefit development to bring him back, otherwise, why was he featured in the first place?

I couldn’t agree more. I find it funny how the one update that I really disliked actually featured my favourite character.
Don’t forget how stupid the final fight was.

I agree that they must have something planned for Canach. Otherwise, they could have just killed him. It doesn’t really make sense for Kiel not to kill him, if you think about what happened. I mean, the guy is dangerous and escaped prison before, it would be wise to kill him instead of arresting him again. Since he was not killed, I believe that we will see him again.

I think that Rox and Braham are reasonably well accepted by players. They are relatively capable, don’t make big claims about their status and get on with the job as best they can with the occasional “hulk smash” moment. They are very much like the average adventurer.

As to Kasmeer and Marjorie, they are interesting enough with their strange relationship and the fact that one is clever and the other a bit clueless. They make a fun enough pairing.

When talking about it, they said Canach is a minor character (as is Kiel) while the new team are major characters. This implies that Canach won’t join the team. There is a male asura in the coming update who could be a new member, and we still haven’t met E yet. It’s possible that E is a sylvari (even an asura, although that’s a stretch).

Truth be told, I’m “equally worried” about Kasmeer’s wellbeing (or Kasi as she’s affectionally called around some of the people I play with).
She just the obvious choice since all signs seem to indicate that the group currently formed ist going to be the LS’s destiny’s edge equivalent.
