Giant Clockwork
I’m not so sure about that. There’s a few interesting ‘theories’ running around, however I agree with what someone else said in another thread after looking over the video again and again, it looks like she’s ‘stepping’ on the ‘plates’ that are aligned in a semi-circle. The 5 pinkish “discs” seem to “resonate” when the marionette steps on them.
My personal theory, at least for the marionette, is that its not necessarily a ‘weapon’, but another form of giant ‘drum’, fashioned from the technology that she’s already played around with. She’s a madwoman, I think its kooky enough and suits her.
From what I gathered from the interview with massively about this first patch, the Jungle Wyrm in Bloodtide brought about was a ‘byproduct’ of these thumpers, not the true intention. I think Scarlet doesn’t really give a kitten about what she brings up with it, until she finally hits the ‘spot’.
They also mention in the interview that AFTER participating in the Jungle Wyrm event, you THEN head to where she’s at in Lornar’s Pass.
My personal theory is because the thumpers are beginning to bring things up (aka the Jungle Wyrm) she realizes to herself that she might need more juice, hence the Marionette.
What that SOMETHING is, aka the ‘secret down below’ (if its all inter-connected, which I think it is), who knows. But that’s my theory on the Marionette and where this is all leading.
As to WHY she’s doing this, what her end-game is, and just what in the kitten she’s searching for, I haven’t a clue, but I’m starting to lean on a few theories. I’m going to reserve them for another thread and for when we get closer to the patch (or into the patch to see what pans out storyline wise).
Sorry for the Rant beyond the Marionette, this has been playing in my mind all day.
Of course, now that I go back and read it, they do say its a super-weapon that she’s testing, and we need to disrupt its testing ’cycle’s’, however seeing as there are ‘thumpers’ still there on the pads, I’m leaning towards that all being interconnected, though I need to think more about the whole of her army being there and testing this weapon.
And just wth is holding it up. Obvious airship is obvious, but who and what is powering and holding it up.
Argh. Back to leveling and thinking.
The whole concept looks… weird. You have a giant piece of animated metal puppet with gods know what mass that is needed to be held up and balanced… I wont go into the high heels arguement but…
You basicly have a HUGE hunk of metal floating above the other giant metal monster, helping to balance and hold itself up… hanging from massive chains…
The power that keeps that thing floating with that additional baggage, it could easily escape Tyria’s gravity on its own… Instead it is anchored by that thing that steps on things…with high heels…
And i have no idea how we are to take it down. Hope its not just directly hitting it. Otherwise ANet just gone way over the top with the “Hit the dragon’s toe until its dead” concept…
I’m not an expert in lore… But Scarlett withdrawing into the Shiverpeaks mountains, building something giant to stomp the ground and obviously awaken something… someone… in the depths. A deep dark and pretty ominous male voice in the trailer… Sounds like Primordius to me.
As speculated above, the worm is either just a sideffect of the stompers or a dragon champion.
I wonder if we’ll see Ogden take part in the story.
I am not sure, but somehow it looks like that giant Clockwork “woman” is in
a) fractails
b) dungeon
c) Place like Queen’s Gauntlet was.
There was too little players on those plates where she stepped and there were quite few players around of those other clockworks too. (I think there were 5 players on that plate). I didn’t see same zerg around those clockworks as there were with that wurm. There might be NPC’s in there with those players fighting with those clockworks.
I notice that there were 5 plates and 5 chains on that clockwork woman. Or is it just a coincidence? But somehow it feels like those plates are somehow same kind of like Queen’s Gauntlet had.
That wurm is in open world. There was more players around of it.
Well, this is only a grazy idea what I got when I watch that video.

So, a giant game of Dance Dance Revolution?
That’s exactly what I thought. Just the kind of thing to raise the ancient evils from their slumber.

My guild is called “Dragon Toe Smashers” and it is made since the first day of the game. I guess those guys who made it had a premonition

Maybe the smart players knew not to stand on the plates when the boss is stomping. Any speculation now might be pointless latter.
…throwing my 2 (maybe a bit weird) cents in. Maybe this is going to be a freaky version of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). Yup.. it does sound as stupid as it did in my head XD
