Is the marionette (/the archievements) staying for the next two weeks? Or for a whole month? Is there an easy in-game way to find this out? Why not?

Generally, the first update of a month lasts the whole month (4 weeks) while the 2nd update of the month also lasts until the end of the month (2 weeks). What throws off this living story update is the fact that there was a long break between updates so we don’t really know if this is the start of a new cycle (4 weeks) or, since it started in the middle of the month, will only last 2 weeks.

I’d wager, but this is completely speculation on my part, that the next 4 updates, which the developers have stated are the “finale” updates to the living story thus far, will all be available for 2 weeks each. This puts the final living story update sometime in March, which the devs have said is when this story arc will end.

It should be far more easy to find out how long time gated Conent is going to stay….
ArenaNet obvously knows and people obvously want to know…
So why are they not telling us ingame? Is there a strategy behind this madness?

Yeah I wonder why we don’t have an in game calendar, breaks Immersion but would be super helpful

They should have timers on the event meta like they do for dailies to tell you how long is left.

If it breaks immersion how about in the patch notes(they’ve done it for some) or the individual release pages like https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/january-21-2014/ (also included for some …)

The Marionette will stay until story reasons say that it shouldn’t be there. So it might go away in a week and a half if Scarlet brings it to attack Lion’s Arch and a new event happens there, or it might go away in a month when Scarlet is killed by the being she’s probing underground for, or it might go away in a month and a half when the players capture Scarlet and bring her to justice.

If they tell us now exactly how long the encounter will be there, that’s spoiling the timeline on Scarlet’s plans and/or her life expectancy.

I don’t see how this is too much of a story-spoiler.

The Event could end because the Marionette is attacking Lions Arch.
The Event could end because the Marionette is “destroyed”.
The Event could stay because there is a second Marionette attacking Lions Arch.
The Event could stay because the Marionette is just a weapons test for something much bigger.
Whatever timeline they give us, we do not know much…

This sort of uncertainty makes me dissatisfied and keeps me from using money, instead of gold, to get the gems for my next 3 character slots.
