I hate to rely on other people.
Ahm, I don’t know if you are being sarcastic or what? This is an MMO. An a cooperative one, at that (as oppossed to other mmos where you are constantly alert in case another player jumps and ganks you). If you don’t like to cooperate with other players, well….
I like the part where he proclaims nobody is as good as he is.
Dakka Warforge- Level 80 Charr Engineer

terribad forum thread is terribad ._.
I am really not liking achievements where I have to rely on other players, because they never do as good a job as I do myself on my own(which is why I hated Tequatl cheevos and TA new path cheevos, but LOVE, absolutely LOVED Queen’s Gauntlet Liadri achievements and Super Adventure Funbox achievements)
I wouldn’t care about how terribad other players are at playing this game, if it did not affect. But see, when their lack of ’’skill’’ for a game as easy as this one starts to affect my Übermensch pro-skillz and 1337 awesomeness, it bothers me.
No more of this in the future Arena. Stahp it.
There is no " i " in “team”. If group events are not your thing, Lion’s Arch has some nice solo Jumping Puzzles without any enemies to hinder you.

The part about this that I agree with is when the steam runs out on the event and anyone who hasn’t completed it within the first rush is left out in the cold.
I like how they do ‘most’ of the Living World group content.
You rely on other people, but you don’t have to form little 5-man teams with one tank and one healer and 3 dps and all the dps yells at the tank or healer when things go bad, and the healer blames the tank, and the tank blames the healer, and dps1 blames dps3 because they were 0.00001% off on the ‘Chippington McVonTestosterone (of the Connecticut McVonTestosterones) ICANHAZUGUILDRAIDPLZ’ meter.
And the way this was implemented is kinda nice, because it’s not entirely zerging. Sure, that’s basically defending, but once you get in your circles, there’s a bit more team work that needs to happen. And when I won (my 2nd time in an overflow), we weren’t all needing to wear Jonny Rocket Space Commander Helmits to succeed. We just listened to the commander’s talking about how it was going to work about 30 minutes before hand, followed directions (presumably, we won?), and had a good time.
So it was ‘sorta’ social. Demented and sad, but social.
I mostly agree with you OP. Really frustrating to finish your platform bit with almost a minute to spare, dodge all attacks and have to sit there and watch some other people fail their part of the event.
The problem isn’t teamwork in a multiplayer game, it’s a given that we have to do that. The problem is that watching another group die while twiddling your thumbs is most definitely not teamwork, yet it’s what this event forces you to do.
You guys are missing the point OP is making. The problem isn’t teamwork or coordination with other people, the problem is having to rely ENTIRELY on other people. The fact that people who kill their champions and finish their part can do nothing to help the other areas that haven’t. A single person could cause the entire lane to fail. This isn’t good design.
Killing your champion should help the other people with theirs in some way.

My point exactly.
What, you mean the dev team would’ve never thought that there would be people at an event that once they die never waypoint, or if they get rezzed they go afk? Maybe they are too optimistic?
