Marionetta is AWESOME.
I thought it was an excellent fight. Good balance of challenging and fun and not the steep learning curve of Tequatl.

Yep, it truly is epic. The difficulty is too high, but it is enjoyable, and that music is amazing. The mechanics are also solid.
But I keep stressing this, the difficulty is too high for most servers. We were promised a more casual challenge for the Living Story, but casual this is not.

Yeah, even I have to agree that the fight it’s self is mechanically sound. It just belongs in a Raid Instance not in the Open World where everyone’s experience can be ruined by a handful of low levels in terrible gear.
I really didn’t find it hard – we got to 2/5 and most people had no clue what to do. Now, that argument I have for Teq and the Wurm, but that’s for another thread.

I completely agree… This fight is a perfect example of why these bosses should be instanced. On our last attempt, each lane had just one circle that failed to kill the 2nd champion. Even though we clearly explained the mechanic in chat, some pugs choose to ignore chat and just do whatever they want.
I find it quite boring except the platforms and even those are ill designed. The tower defense part just gets extremely long and boring, especially if you have to wait until it gets back to your lane to break a chain. The platform part needs to allow the other people in your lane to assist after they defeat their champion. Perhaps a little walkway to the platforms on either side of you? Last but not least the 2 hour wait is very excessive.
And then, two people who are new to the event get teleported to one platform, all by themselves, and are brutally killed by the champion, failing the event for all the server.
Yay.
What makes this AWESOME? I find it long and boring
Yeah, it is really well designed. I enjoyed thisit alot.
If they add more bosses like the ones we see currently they would need to add more increments to visit those bosses again.
I know it’s not a breaking point, I for one enjoy WvW and PvP alot more then casual PvE but boss fights like marionette would be amazingly fun to do besides that.
I know this one is temporary where as the great wurms is permanent.
But, the marionette has mechanics that could fit well together into a permanent boss.
I’m not saying the design as is currently should go into a permanent package.
But it could definitly be done another time.
I don’t mind tequatl, but seriously once you beat it it’s not as much fun anymore to do again and again.
Same would probably go for the 3 wurms.
The mechanics are a lot of fun, but it requires way too much coordination sometimes.
Which, is fine. Especially for guilds that want to do them and they should stay.
But, we should really see more boss fights like marionette pop up where server groups that are a little bit less organized could still manage to beat it if they pull it together.
WHILST at the same time having a bit more hardcore ones like the 3 wurms for organized large guild groups.
