Marionette Feedback and Congratulations TC!
Have tried the event 3 times on TC and always put into overflow which ends up failing, a couple of times there were only 2 people on platform and when 1 goes down there is no way to revive.
I’m sorry you got put into the overflow! That really sucks. I have a few suggestions:
1) If try entering after the last Marionette fight. People usually leave due to the 2 hour wait.
2) If it’s a computer issue (ex: constant DCs), try turning your graphics to the lowest setting.
I, personally, didn’t experience any lag on my computer — however I’m also running on a gaming computer. We didn’t get too many reports in mapchat about constant DCs, so I can’t tell you if it’s a server cap issue.
All I can say is keep trying! It’s a really fun fight when you’re able to truly participate.
No problems with lag or DC’s, it’s just that if you want to be on the main server and not overflow you have to wait on the main for 2hrs at the event place and if you WP to event you auto get put on overflow.
And there have been a few complaints where only 2 people get ported to a platform instead of 5.
Just wanted to pop in and say that I absolutely love the Marionette fight. Sure, it can be frustrating that a single weak link can spell failure for the entire event, especially when the actual Champion fights aren’t terribly challenging, but overall I really don’t mind. There’s something really exciting about defending your lane, wondering if the people fighting the marionette are going to be able to sever the chain or not. And when you’re up, it’s extra exciting knowing so much is riding on your shoulders.
You guys did a fantastic job with this content. While I do think as a whole, the possibility of one individual bringing down the entire team should be relegated to instanced content, it makes for a very interesting living world encounter this time around. It’s a really fun fight, and it’s a shame it’ll be temporary. I would love seeing an instanced version of this showing up someday, possibly as a fractal boss and rebuilt in such a way that it’s designed for one party.
I personally didn’t mind waiting the two hours. The guys I was with in mumble were pleasant and map chat / say were fun to hang out in. -shrugs!-
I agree with the OP. The fight felt really balanced. There is a good amount of coordination needed, yet simple enough where you don’t have to have everything exactly perfect. I was there when TC made that first kill and it felt GREAT. I was on the mumble as well which just made the experience better, but I know there were tons of folks who were satisfied with the fight without it. Granted, folks will learn this boss and make it a bit easier to do, but it still depends on that teamwork. I’ve been on the final lane to go in twice and it’s such a rush haha.
Keep up the good work and I look forward in seeing what is coming up in the final chapter of the LS (got into scarlet’s lair and I am intrigued… )
Over in a Teq forum post, someone had asked for the ability to use WvW siege equipment in the Teq battle. Since the marionette fight is WvW scale in PvE, it really makes sense to have siege weapons and golems and adds to the epic feel. Thanks, devs, for adding that.
