Anyone else feels like the worm wouldnt get similiar damage as each try?

we got on trys with similiar groups same tactic where damagestop is said @50% and it gets killed cause of dots and fireele and sometimes everything out and it drops to 60% in one phase.

On the last try, we were around 90 on cobalt. Down it easily in two bursts.

I have a theory about why this happens.

What we know:
First, it happens most often at Crimson for us. Crimson is also the one where people spread out over the largest area.
Second, there have been reports by people that the HP fluctuates due to some scaling thing. Regardless of sketchy meters or anything, we can empirically see that the HP definately DOES scale with number of people in some way, as 15 people have out-dpsed much larger zergs somehow.
Third, presence of Husks and Vet wurms don’t really affect whether its a super-burn or not (they don’t help, but we have had super-burns while bombarded)
Fourth, there is some 2x damage spots, but this doesn’t explain the great disparity in dps.

Looking at the results, my theory:
There is some interval between which the wurm periodically checks for # of people in some area, and then scales the HP/Toughness at that time. You get super-burns when there is a scaling set just prior to a “collapse and burn” phase such that you have, for example, 80 people doing damage when the wurm only counted 20 people in its area.

If this is true, perhaps portal-bombing to game the system would be a viable strat. It would rely on having only a few people in the direct vicinity of the wurm and hoping you get lucky that the scaling-check happens. Directly afterwards, drop a portal and burn it down with numbers its not expecting.

….Or it could just be a random bug. Who knows.

Hmm, makes sense. I kinda noticed a wild mix of mobs at that event when i went there for the achievement and curiosity.

Some were at or near the area level, others were enough levels above to get a red level number. And all were showing up within a short distance of one of the fans.
