Long time AR hater here, first time AR respecter.

Seriously, I know a lot of us on SF appreciate the kind words that the majority of you are saying on this thread in regards to our server. (Yes we understand there will always be bad apples, as long as you understand we will always be here to troll/pvf them)

I know I have given you guys a hard time in the past, but it is nice to see a server fight so hard and then (the majority) be civil in a matchup thread, and beyond that even call your own people out for going overboard.

The best advice I can give you during your climb out of the lower ranks:

-Be humble (because you will lose again, everyone does and people will be waiting to rub your faces in it), but don’t let people disrespect you for one second.
-Believe, believe, believe in continuous improvement, just because you think you have something mastered never stop trying to be innovative and/or stop trying to improve.
-Understand your limits (the downfall of SF), you are not a Silver league server, but you can be one of the top Bronze. Building your WvW/Server with small goals in mind will yield better rewards, thinking you can go from worst-first (T8-T1) someday is a fools errand.

Anyhow, I doubt most people care, but just figured if you take some of this advice it might help you along the way.

Agree %100. All of us….even the people who are not bad apples, are holding back our excitement as it is still a short wining streak as well as we wouldnt want to jinx it.

Personally I dont care what league rank we are each week, as long as we actually have the cooperation and communication we have now. Previously we just simply got beat down while having a somewhat hostile community. Everyone is now starting to work as a unit so as long as that continue’s I will enjoy WvW as much as we all are now.

I appreciate the advice and hope others do too, and hey…maybe after investing that advice you might wanna see what it looks like from the other side of the rock. lol

Lol Anvil Rock PLS keep spawn camping us in EB everyday your bags are delicious and I don’t even have to go anywhere to find them.

And hey to the AR people that aren’t like this, I hope you stop having to deal with the bad apples, they’re no fun to have in a server that is trying.

Your next target is DH or FC, I hope you win and GL in that match up.

Lol yes there were about 15-20 SF at the keeps, not to mention the assaults we held off. with 5 people mind you. Who would be proud of taking empty keeps and towers? Not I for one, maybe since that’s the first conclusion you jumped to… you do it a lot? See you on the battlefield and good luck.

I have been on Anvil Rock since the commercial launch of the game. Never have left, never will. I have been with us through thick and thin, and although I am appalled at a few of the threads on here and their misrepresentation of our excellent community, I am happy to see that most people were humble about our recent climb.

Well, 2 days left and it seems the numbers are starting to settle and the matchup is drawing to a close. I usually am on Anvil Rock commanding at least 3 or 4 late nights per week, however I regretfully was not able to make it over the weekend or on reset night due to my University finals week. This was especially disappointing, because I have never had a chance to really play against SF on somewhat even terms since our servers’ free fall.

That being said, I was able to get on to command a good amount monday and tuesday night against you guys (SF and Kaineng), and it has been a pleasure more so than most other tier 7-8 servers I have faced recently. I see that kaineng has taken their class with them from the higher tiers in their current state of falling ranks, and SF is classy as always. You guys havn’t done any of the cheap shenanigans (bugging etc.) I have seen from other servers in bronze league, and have been fun to play against overall.

Kaineng, I wish you guys luck. We were in your position for a long time over the past 4-5 months. It sucks to fall so far, but as long as a few good players remain faithful to your server and don’t all abandon ship you will bounce back eventually as we are. Don’t give up.

SF, as I said I didn’t get a chance to play much against you this round, but I hope we see you again soon. I hope you manage to climb back up the ladder with us.

I feel like this thread is a SF eulogy… At the beginning of the season, we were a favorite for first or second, and now… well, when I went into our BL at around 4pm yesterday (which is when we usually have some decent numbers starting to get on before primetime) and KN had 2 waypoints on our map, it was just a “WTF guys” moment. It’s like no one gives a kitten anymore, and for the guilds that DO go out there and try, it’s starting to wear on us a bit, b/c we’ll go out there, paper some keeps/towers, etc, and when we get off, we HOPE that others will keep flipping, and it just doesnt happen. All the keeps we flipped are right back to t3 2 hrs later, and thats how they stay until the next day. It wasn’t like that even a month ago.

It seems like a combination of things has really kind of destroyed a lot of our WvW situation… the 2week beating that HOD gave us, losing to DH for second place in the league when we THOUGHT we could win, the ending of the WvW season achievements (which means the PvEers have nothing left to do in WvW), etc… Idk.

I’m in no way trying to diminish anything the other servers are doing right now b/c it seems like AR in particular has stepped up tremendously (as well as some of the other servers), so I have nothing but respect for AR and wish them the best in their rise. It feels like as other servers make progress, SF is doing the opposite. So we really have some things to work on as a server, at least from my perspective.

If this post came off as me trying to make excuses or whining, that’s not what I intended. I’m simply making an observation from inside of SF.

I think that you have the right attitude, and it would be near impossible to view your post as making excuses or whining. The fact that you are looking at things that you can improve as well as actively working to do so shows that you are on the right track. I wish only the best for those like you in SF who put in the hard work. Hopefully you get to see the fruits of your labor.

I have to say I’ve been fairly absent from this week of play. Been a good matchup this week for the most part. I’m beginning to regain some respect for SF, as they have always been the server that consists of predominantly kittens.

I have enjoyed this week, people come on here and QQ about PPT but other than that its pretty fun…go to T1 if you wanna PPT gaze, you will never have stable/normalized populations week-week here.

That only occurs on T1 cause everything is queued during NA prime, so it seems more normalized.

GG AR/Kain had fun, look forward to next week.

Lol honestly I have a bunch of friends in SF including my old guild who transferred over, so I just wanted to say something nice especially to you guys since we hadn’t played you in so long.

I also just finished writing a 5000 word persuasive research paper as my final for one of my classes before I wrote that, so that is probably why it seemed preachy haha. Was kinda still in essay mode.

Seeing SF absolutely fall flat on their faces has kept me going during this terrible week of finals. It truly warms my heart seeing you guys getting stomped beneath the mighty boot of Anvil Rock. The garbage that is CoSA and the surprisingly mediocre STaR getting what you deserve keeps me studying. My only wish for Christmas is that HoD follows suite shortly after.
And then we got these AR guys that think that anything but an influx of number (or the other teams lack of numbers) changes a server LOL. Even worse than these guys though are people like this Ganking riding tall on their high horse. Watch out guys he’s a “WvW Mesmer commander”!!! Son don’t try to preach to me or Kaineng about not giving up. You think Tier 8 is your home. But AR merely adopted T8; Kaineng was born in it, molded by it. We didn’t see Tier 7 until we were already men, and by then it was nothing to us but blinding! So please get off the horse and stop your preaching

To the folks that are trying to put controversy into this thread. Every server here has had it’s ups and downs, every server here has been in T8. Letting a kitten sit in a toilet the longest doesn’t turn it into a gold bar. It’s just a wet kitten . Every server in this match up has really great, positive things going for it, and lots of room for improvement as well. We all have days we play better than others, the days where everything goes flawlessly. Those are not the days we learn how to get better. I know players come here, sometimes in the heat of the moment, and post all kinds of silliness(that goes for all servers).

During the season, nearly my entire friends list was in WvW almost exclusively. Now that the season is over, I’m seeing those same friends (friends who are avid WvWers and are not the giving up type) all over the game…WvW, dungeons, fractals, open world PvE, Wintersday, sPvP, etc, etc. It was many of the same faces who were carrying us through the season. Just speculating (not making excuses), but I suspect what we’re seeing right now is some of those people stepping back a little from doing WvW 100% of the time and taking a little time to catch-up on enjoying other aspects of the game. I’m sure our WvW will perk back up once folks feel rested and a little less burnt out.

Oh snap this is crazy lol. Is AR ready to play with FC/Dh? Time will tell!

SF, hope you guys recover from this. I’m sure you guys are getting hit really hard by leagues ending/general lack of moral.

Honestly, from an AR standpoint, not to diminish all that has been accomplished by the server, the answer is no, but we are getting better. Regardless of the lead AR holds right now, many players are “done for the week”. To compete at a higher level, AR as a server can’t have this level of complacency. Maybe that will change in the next few weeks, but what AR needs right now is a solid loss to get a few players heads on straight. As always, great fights, see you folks on the battlefield.

if anyone can’t tell, to some degree we’re a server full of brand new puppy dogs (general pug population anyway)… antsy and ready to snap at anything that moves. distracted by every squirrel, fire hydrant, or telephone pole that we pass (regardless of if we say “skip this…”), and ready to chase our tail down at the drop of a hat, and when we don’t catch it, we wander off and wonder what happened to that car we were chasing just a minute ago…

we love the fight when its competitive, but when we’re either down a heftazillion pts or up by that same amount the fights become few and far between, and the pugs (get it…) get distracted and wonder off.

I think when we figure out we don’t have to blow out a billion point lead every week we’ll do better at keeping the doggy’s attention through the week. keeping it focused on the task at hand may still be… well… one thing at a time.

IMO if matchups split midway through the week (between monday and tuesday night for instance) i think it would be like a constant 4 day reset… might make things a bit more interesting for those of us not in t1/2

Whatever SF woke up last night and took nearly every map SO I don’t want to hear anyone saying SF died blah blah. Kaineng woke up a little too and brought out da Police :P

Do I love AR yes, Is AR ready to keep moving up no, Our major issue is that the PuGs only follow certain Commanders >_> Those 4ish Commanders cant do it all Im hoping AR gets a rough matchup next week and comes away with 2nd it will give us a good idea of who is in it to stay and who are the fair-weathers Ultimately we have grown as guilds are starting to Pop up and run organized events that alone is major growth from when we first started

Not really. It’s just pointless to have people on for 6 hours and the rest of the time getting eaten up, we’ll recover when people play in our off hours. If you see the PPT in the prime-time, with a lot of people not really playing we still beat them without much effort. In fact, we have a lot of people who played extra during the leagues who are resting I suppose.

Perhaps we should just tank to last since its how you get transfers it seems.

AR is more than ready to take on HoD, go get ’em!
