Ebay moved up to rank 12 wvw leader board list which makes us a t4 server.

since Anet royally kittened us with this random match we are paired with a t5 server again. by doing so we at ebay where very disappointed because we worked very hard to finally get away from this boring match.

now due to this disappointment many (and I mean Many) stopped playing wvw until we get the match we worked hard to get.

now why is AR getting points. simple they are technically doing better than the glicko system thought it would do against a rank 12 (T4) server.

Considering the current rating for EBay is dropping DOWN 24 points and showing a 19 point rating INCREASE for AR, enlighten us. (Glicko ranks based on predicted performance, all AR had to do was as well as last week to MAINTAIN to it’s current ranking and not lose points. However I would love to hear your interpretation of how the system works and why MOS and ANet are incorrect with the current stats).

And going hard against AR while ignoring the 2nd place server only causes you to lose rating. So we want to know where the logic is behind the previous statement. Ebay needs rating points, and AR doesn’t have any points to give them. So the only logical conclusion is that EBay is afraid to go up against BP.

I was the necro at the 30 second mark using grasping dead. Search the forums. These complaints have been around awhile.

I’ve seen it from all teams. Also, I never report it using the report system because that is not the right way to try to get it fixed. Notice how there is no category for it. I won’t do things like this myself, but it is a grey area. It is just one of the many broken things, like ressing through the pipe at bay.

Let me try and simplify. Due to the RNG the 2 servers above EBay are showing a massive point gain, the 2 servers below AR are showing a massive point loss. If Ebay continues to avoid fighting BP during the NA Prime, they will have widened the gap even more than the 60 points it’s sitting at right now. The gap below AR is now nearly 90 rank points. You have forum trolls that like to try and spread the we fight BP and they are bad, but the facts through MOS don’t seem to work with that theory. In fact, leaving BP to do it’s thing is costing EBay more than they were gaining over the past several weeks. The only conclusion I can come up with is that either BP and EBay have come to an agreement to focus on AR, or that EBay is afraid to match up to BP. If the former is the case, it is clearly only benefiting BP, if it’s the latter, then it’s a good thing the server stayed where it is, because it was clearly not ready to advance.

we did advance but yet we are still stuck here because anet wanted to “mix” up the matches.

what you fail to understand is that many ebay wvw players took this week off because they said kitten this we worked to get out of here and what do we get a big kitten slap in the face.

I do realize that. There is no failure to understand that EBay put a lot of work into getting out of the tier, however, it’s players are currently working hard to reverse everything those players on EBay have done in the past 2-3 weeks. That’s all I am trying to get across. If the current EBay player base(those playing WvW this week) is what it has to throw at the tier above, then they are in for a rude and painful awakening when they meet up with servers that aren’t outmanned most of the time.

I love when AR and BP try to give us advice on T4.

The Glicko-2 math isn’t that hard, it’s just tedious. But I see a lot of people still don’t understand how it works. So, here’s the story with EB and AR’s ratings:

At the beginning of the match, EB had a rating of 1550.0354 and a deviation of 182.2718, and AR had a rating of 1287.0150 and a deviation of 178.1011. When you convert these numbers to the Glicko-2 rating scale you get:
EB mu=0.2880 phi=1.0492
AR mu=-1.2260 phi=1.0252
(mu = (rating – 1500) / 173.7178, phi = (deviation) / 173.7178)

The next step is to calculate the value of the Glicko-2 g function for EB and AR:
EB g=0.8656
AR g=0.8706
(g = 1 / sqrt( 1 + 3 * phi^2 / (pi^2) ) )

Then, you calculate the value of the Glicko-2 E function for EB versus AR, and AR versus EB (unlike g which depends on one server only, E must be calculated for each pair of servers, and in both directions — A versus B, and B versus A):
EBvsAR E=0.7889
ARvsEB E=0.2124
(E = 1 / ( 1 + exp( g2 * (mu1 – mu2 ) ) ), where mu1=server rating, mu2=opponent rating, g2=opponent g value)

The final step is to figure out how big your own score has to be in order to beat the Glicko-2 expected score E (this part is based on the particular way ArenaNet has implemented Glicko-2, but is not actually part of Glicko-2 itself):
EB: m=2.2901
AR: m=0.4387
(m = ( 0.5 + arcsin( 2 * E – 1 ) / pi ) / ( 0.5 – arcsin( 2 * E – 1 ) / pi ) )

So, in order for EB to not lose any rating against AR, EB’s score needs to be 2.2901 times as big as AR’s score. And in order for AR to not lose any rating against EB, AR’s score needs to be 0.4387 times as big as BP’s score. Note that these values depend solely on the previous week’s ratings and deviations. The previous week’s scores are not involved.

Right now EB has 238,160 points compared to AR’s 134,980.
EB 238160 / 134980 = 1.7644
AR 134980 / 238160 = 0.5668

Since 1.7644 is lower than 2.2901, EB is losing rating points. and since 0.5668 is higher than 0.4387, AR is gaining rating points. That’s all there is to it.

It has nothing to do with last week’s scores. If this week’s match were to end with the exact same score as last week’s (EB=336728, AR=119306), the ratings wouldn’t stay the same, EB would gain points again and AR would lose points again:
EB 336728/119306 = 2.8224, which is higher than 2.2901
AR 119306/336728 = 0.3543, which is lower than 0.4387

See? The math isn’t hard, it’s just tiresome.

If all you want to know is whether your rating will go up or down, the math above is all you need).

If i had more then 20ppl and we were not all going to call it night i might wander over but /shrug weeks over even if i’m sure the new system will tie us together again -.-.

If it’s true that Ebay focusing more on Anvil and less on Borlis will improve their standing in the long run I think ANet needs to change something. Such a situation results in a pretty skewed matchup.
Maybe I’m crazy, but in my head the ideal situation would be the two lower tiers working mostly against the winner until the balance of power tips.

Because F and K together is regarded as short hand typing for a derogatory word starting with F, followed by a letter between but not including T and V, repeat the previous process for a letter between B and D, finally ended with the K.
