Q:
Brackets for Season 2?
Possibly the same way? It’s been implied that season two (if it happens) won’t happen until next year at earliest. That’s at least a month’s worth of matches (possibly longer) to readjust rating again.
That said, I really hope they revert to the old system of matchups when we come out of the leagues. The RNG, while interesting to test out, had so many detractors, I think most would be happier with the old system, even if it means the same opponents and traditional ladder.
Keep the color rng thought being the same on is extremely boring
Being placed in Gold may not be all you expected it to be

Interesting, I had not heard that before. Do you by chance have a source for that information? Personally I’m really enjoying the current system. To have the competition between the different servers in each bracket as well as the long-term goal of winning your bracket really increases the excitement of the matches, at least in my opinion. I feel like they really mean something now, whereas before, while they were fun, I did not ACTUALLY care much about whether we won or lost. Just my personal opinion though.
Hello everyone, I play on Fort Aspenwood, and was a bit disappointed to see that we were placed in the silver bracket for season 1.
Well that’s bound to happen when you tank the pre-season matches
Malzerius – Thief
Dark Covenant (SBI)

Why do you say that? haha. Of course I realize that my server might not (or probably won’t) be successful in gold, and that it might actually be less fun to be in the bottom of gold than the top of silver. But despite all that, my competitive instinct makes me want to be as close to the top as possible, and more challenging opponents would be nice as well. No offense to BP and NS, but last night we controlled EVERY objective in the battlegrounds, and I stopped playing because there was nothing left to do. If our server stays as active as it has been lately, then we need to be matched against other similarly active servers in order to have good, competitive matches.

Did we do that? I actually had put down Guild Wars for several months before the season started, and the season and the Halloween content brought me back, so I don’t really know what was going on before the matches started…

Oh gosh it was something I read a while ago back in September I believe. Do a search on Devon’s posts, but it’s quite possible I read it on an MMO zine. Sorry
Would make sense either way though, considering the first season ends leading up to the Christmas holidays.
Edited to add: prior to the leagues there was an RNG matchup since June (?) where T3 servers would sometimes face T1 servers, and sometimes T6 would face T2, etc. It was interesting, but there was a lot of angst over population disparities. Those disparities still exist, but at least with a rating-ranked match, you have a closer population than say T1 vs T4.

You are correct but I don’t know where it is either. There will be a break between seasons while they collect and analyze s1 data.

Season 2 will be sometime in 2014, assuming they do it again.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Very interesting. Thanks everyone!
The league was really exciting and promising in the first 1 to 2 weeks. It has since died down, alot.
The problem is that RNG is actually now a better choice. If RNG is better, that means this league system has failed because RNG was meant to be a solution to stagnant matchups.
The only way now is to ditch the league.
My suggestion would be to let nature take its course, so loser goes down one rank in the rank rank of 24 and the winner goes up. That way losing would mean something and winning would mean you are either top in t1 or going down one tier. Not hard to implement.
I sincerely hope that there is not a season 2, unless drastic steps are taken to create greater parity among servers in the same brackets.
SoS hasn’t gotten a break from the top 4 in nearly 2 months now. We want some quality time with SBI and FA.
If its not glaringly obvious that JQ/BG/SoR belong in their own league then there’s no hope.
