Hahaha, the vitriol in these types of threads has only gotten worse since I last poked my head in on one. No wonder they’re potentially shutting down the sub-forum.

It’s surprising how people seem like they don’t know how to lose, which is a bummer since they also don’t know how to win.

The real tragedy though, is when everyone forgot how to have fun.

Or maybe they like some competitive rivalry and do not take what is said here personally or all that seriously. Perhaps it is just some folks like yourself that forgot how to have fun?

I’d like to believe that, but such a gross lack of sportsmanship and respect speaks to something else. You don’t end a basketball game in high school, then walk over to the other bench and yell “AHHAHAHAHHAA OWNED” after the game if you win. You don’t say “Lol you guys are bad, we just didn’t have our starters” back if you lost. You clap hands and say “good game”.

And like most online feedback tools, the number of people who take the time to post something positive is intensely outweighed by those who come searching for somewhere to vent in the heat of an emotional moment.

So no, I don’t believe you. And I’m having the time of my life in WvW. I’m the Necro in white who laughs as zergs swarm over him, then comes back to charge/divert again immediately.

Also, if you’ve ever GvG’d a guild on Mag, this does happen. There’s smack talk all over the forums about other guilds, then they GvG, win or lose Mag says good fights and drops it.

So it really is all this sensitive, lets be nice to everyone because feelings, that these forums are being closed.

I am not even sure how you would follow him. I had no idea what he was saying most of the time.

Ya if your guild GvGs it almost guarantees instant respect from Mag. It’s only the “open field” guilds that run to siege and refuse to GvG that we have zero respect for.

That’s hilarious, so your idea of a big win is killing my zerg when we have half our guys in golems which = limited use and the other half inside your keep when you have AC/Cannon/Mortar coverage.. LOL if you call that a win buddy then sure, I got your supply down and you’ve been suppressed in EB since I took over last night, unfortunately I had to go, RL called but sure if you consider winning inside of VK a sweet victory then congrats. At least I am going for the big fish, its not hard to win battles with siege.

My response could have been perceived as rude, and I get the angle you’re taking. “Mmmmmm, the guy talking about sportsmanship was rude, oooo baby I’m going to jump on this chance to prove his hypocrisy! Mom, can you bring the lotion down? My hands are dry.”

However, it was the perfect word for the occasion, since two posts with arguments seemingly went unread, or were simply used as a soapbox to preach the same repetitive gospel about how bads and sensitives ruin everyone’s fun. I also wanted to let him know that I wasn’t going to respond to any more of his posts, since the conversation was already vacuous after 2.

@Tricare: A few things

1. Tyrion’s style of commanding is the reason why I absolutely refuse to ever join the FA Teamspeak. I acknowledge it is the best idea to effectively run with a zerg, but I only use zergs as means to find fights, really. I’ve heard a similar sentiment expressed from others. We can’t keep people from tagging up and finding a following, regardless of their methods. Just know that not all of us think it’s…. good.

2. No, I’m not suggesting that professionals don’t smack talk. I specifically mentioned high-school, but that isn’t even the point, really. After a professional game, often the players walk across the field and congratulate one another, hug, pat cheeks, etc. I see the forums as the “after-party”, where you come when the game is over. How many times do you see a post-game interview where the player was like “Yeah, their defensive line kept cheating, but the refs wouldn’t call it. I’m going to send them video footage so hopefully they do something about it”, or “Yeah they are a really bad team, we owned them”, or “They aren’t good, we’d beat them for sure if it wasn’t for <insert excuse here>”. You don’t.

The smack talk happens on the field. The appropriate analogy to this situation is in-game when you’re lining up for a fight. If I could, I’d yell choice bits over to people standing on walls or hiding in guards. I’d taunt zergs to see if I could pull a few over to me. I’d try to pull them off of their game and into a disadvantageous situation to help my server/me win a fight/cap a location/etc. Professionals try to get under each other’s skin to gain an emotional advantage that they can use to win the game. But from what I can tell, they leave it in-game.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the opportunity to chat with each other in-game, so I guess people just have to use this subforum to vent their frustration. And that IS what it often is.

I’d even probably be more OK with it if many of the posts had any hint of respect at any point. Or if they were clever at all. The “we owned you” “no we owned you” “you’re exploiting” “no you’re exploiting” has been literally going on for over a year. Is that not insane to you? The Code of Conduct violations notwithstanding, I’d close this subforum for a lack of originality.

Ugh, this post is too long. I went to run errands halfway through, and it’s too long for even me to go back and read. Oh well.

TL;DR – I’m having fun fighting you folks, please stop dodging for no real reason and unintentionally ruining my Corrupt Boons, if you see me bow to you it’s because I respect something I saw you do, if you see me laugh it’s because I think what’s happening is funny (not because I’m mocking you).

If it’s any consolation to the offense I’ve apparently given your TS community, it would take a lot for me to get onto a TS in the first place because I’d rather crank music while roaming than talk to people. When the need arises, I can follow a blue symbol around well enough.

This is why GvG’s happen or even 5v5’s and such. We’ll say GG then and give props for coming out to fight.

That DfA was extraordinary. I’m sorry it hasn’t gotten the attention it has deserved yet partly on account of people “responding” to my long post.

Speaking of those, let me try again and maybe this will fit in better:

TC/Mag only ever hide/glitch in towers, always skill-zerging around until they see half their numbers then running scared. FA’d be winning if it wasn’t for the holidays. Remember that time where we killed both servers outside of SMC? FA’s never lost a fight like that. Not once. Get on our level. Am I cool enough to play more GW2 with yet? Please let me know when you love to hate me. Then I’ll know we the beginnings of a really good rivalry, and maybe I’ll sob a little bit more quietly as I fall asleep tonight.

Oh, and please don’t make fun of my weight. I have a hard time taking it lightly.

Clearly you don’t see the difference between a rivalry and poor conduct. Since it is just a game, and these forums will be gone soon, I’ll just say good game see you on the battlefield.
