So….you aren’t going to play until Friday, you’re going to spawn camp us ’till Friday, what?

Friday hoping that we get a better roll, you guys put up a good fight, but we can’t get better fighting the same people/outmanned people every week.

It breeds bad habits on our side…people think WvW is just run to a tower, throw 2 rams, cap it, move to the next.

Then we move up and it gets harder, they quit. So we need to keep getting better, not PVgate all week.

Just a random suggestion but why don’t you try to split your forces when the 2 other servers are outmanned ? this way you would have more challenging fights on different sides of the map instead of moving in a giant ball that run through everything because you have 3 times more people. There are a few hours in the day when we (ET) can put a fight against your zerg but most of the time it’s just like this. Honestly over the last 2 weeks I really had the feeling that sf was enjoying rolling over people who can’t do anything more than fighting fights that are a little challenging.

We like to not really have more than 2 commanders on a map at once, which usually ends up as being 1 commander.

We do try to split the zerg, because I really hate trying to finish off Blue keep, and have people crying out for Anzalas being attacked…

I favor the “zone-approach”, having a commander at each 1/3 zoning it off, with a 3rd havoc group roaming to support either. Just always dont have the people for that.

Well in this matchup you do have the people for it but you just don’t do it. So to us it looks like the majority of sf only want to roll over smaller armies rather than to have a fair fight. I say the majority because I’ve often seen VS fighting on their own apart from the main zerg, and they are not afraid to fight with equal numbers or even with a number disadvantage.
The rest of sf however won’t fight if they don’t have at least twice the numbers. It’s ridiculous how many times we took Anz and Mendon totally undefended while sf was busy attacking blue keep with 50 people against 10 defenders.

The only difference I see in this match is the level of spawn camping from SF. I’ve never seen so much of it from the other servers that did it.

I think there may have been one person “talking smack”. I’m not sure that constitutes all of AR, but at the rate our WvW population is declining, by Friday it might…….

point being, one person, or a few, shot their mouth off… and, rational or not, someone else decided an attitude adjustment was in order.

i’m mostly trying to be nice, but honestly, the few AR i’ve seen posting… most of them are rubbing me the wrong way with the attitude of their posting. you guys aren’t the big dogs in the park anymore, but you still bark like you are. makes me agree with any attitude adjustment anyone on ET or SF wants to mete out to AR… maybe it’ll stick before you guys fall into the black pit of despair ET almost found itself in not so long ago.

@Sioux, 3 days of being spawn camped has gotten a few of us a bit “cranky”. While we generally remain polite and courteous on the field, if you happen to have been one of the SF that spawn camped us and got spiked, then, well, you likely got danced on.

I’ve seen at least one post that claims spawn-camping is a valid tactic. If PPT is all that matters to you, then absolutely it is! Don’t even let the other team on the field of battle! We don’t do that, even when we were in T5 and playing down-level servers, because we feel it’s cheap, but if that’s your thing, then have at it.

We won’t stop fighting, and we WILL keep coming at you, regardless of how hard you try to get us to do otherwise. We’re Anvil Rock.

Yea haha, we don’t follow around any zergs unless it’s defending something. But we don’t follow them even then, we go straight for the enemies and they may choose to follow us. And we’ll fight any size numbers, hell even if we had ten and there was 50, we’d still run in there and try to kill a few trying to learn a few techniques. Been fun this week especially against some guilds! Oh btw, I don’t let my guys spawn camp either, so if you ever see a couple of them there, it’s not with my permission.

Good fights with VS! That final one when you took us from behind at AR Garrison, we were actually coming to help you guys. LoL But fun times for sure.

On a different note, I really don’t understand spawn camping. I can’t imagine it is “fun” for the campers, and it totally ruins the fun for the afflicted, since they can’t do anything they go into WvW for. If it’s purely a “win at all costs” rationale — this is T8, and a game to boot, and there aren’t any substantial rewards for winning a matchup anyway. So why? Who is this tactic good for?

Finally, have to love anyone whose signature includes “Slayer of HoD”. Hope you get matched up with them next time. Kick their arses for me, wouldya? ;-)

hey, none of that, now. when i did manage to get online the other night, we left AR’s border about 5 minutes after to go defend ET BL… when we finished doing that, we went to SF BL and started taking stuff there. a weaker target is frequently a smarter target, but that doesn’t mean we don’t hit SF at all!

If it weren’t for you, we’d have our 1/3rd back (EB), so good on ya for being tough fighters. We managed to chase you back into Brav a few times, but for the most part you blew up our mob/blob (but in our defense we were still fighting Outnumbered).

Yeah we were doing rather good with the lower numbers of [VS] we had. Sorry cant really help the outnumbered :/ cant make people stop following us. We do try to stay ahead of the group so we can do as much of the work as possible. When we do find a fight they have all been very fun! Whoever it was in Rogue’s Quarry that we fought about an hour or 2 ago .. good work you guys just kept coming in haha we lasted awhile though!

I have to agree w/ thorson. we were trying to take back bravost tonight and vs happened to be there. we fought for a good while until the rest of sf started capping the other side of the map and i had to pull off and try to salvage it (would have rather stayed and continued the fight though). gg, cant wait for more of that. it was good to be able to show some of our new folks running with us what they should be doing in wvw live action style.

“Having the people” does not always mean “having the numbers”. Sometimes I am the only commander, sometimes other commanders are the only commander.

You have rarely taken anything without us knowing, We usually try to keep scouts at Anz/Speld/Mend/Dredge (the “ET side”) while we are pushing Blue. Couple of times we have let Anz go because it was paper and we were flipping a T3 blue tower/keep etc. A few times you guys were able to get Mendons from us before we could get there….

In the end, while I like the above posted strategy, I also want our people to get used to zerging up, because when we face the DH/IoJ/DR/NSP/HoD’s of the world we will need our 50 man zergs again.

Eventually…Hopefully…We kind find some middle ground and get the “best of both worlds”.

Calm down toots, like I said at the time of the posting, you had legitimately 8-10 on EB trying to defend. Yep that’s how it went down (@sioux I remember seeing you on the ar/eBay threads).

I know one of our commanders (and possibly small guild) came to ET. I hoped they kept their guild name but if you happen to see davitlee online say hey from AR and tell em to get online so we can collect their badges

We’re JAWA now… unfortunately, we have not had much of a chance to play since transferring due to RL stuff for most of the guild (Davitlee’s cries and makes stinky diapers). I’ve probably been the one that’s played the most since we moved to ET.

Even before ALS and others transferred, we were talking about moving to the lowest tier to get more skirmish fights rather than 24/7 zerg-fest… (although SF has numbers that seem to match mid servers that we used to fight with AR). Then, when things started to fall apart at AR, we figured it was a good time to pull the trigger. I’m surprised how fast AR dropped down to tier 8, though… I knew things would be rough when our main guilds left, but I thought it would be months, if ever, before ET would be matched up with you.

We really liked a lot of you all, and I’ve been only focusing on SF this week (haven’t stepped foot into ARBL). I think we’re going to have a really good matchup when it’s us, AR and FC… I’m looking forward to that.

As far as you collecting our badges, when all 5 of us JAWA guys are on, I’d like to see you try… just make sure you bring everyone left on the AR server with you.

I do have to ask, where did all those folks come from ET? Last night, your keep and surrounding areas in EB. You were fielding some awesome numbers, havnt seen you guys do that in a long time. Especially those long Golanta and Lowland fights, had a great time dying a lot!

In my sincerest attempt at getting you guys more acclimated to your situation, I thought I would unashamedly steal (added a bit of editing) this from another internet site in hopes that it may help you to come to terms with your current situation.

THE SEVEN STAGES OF GRIEF DEALING WITH YOUR PLUMMET TO T8

1. SHOCK & DENIAL-
You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks.

2. PAIN & GUILT-
As the shock wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable pain. Although excruciating and almost unbearable, it is important that you experience the pain fully, and not hide it, avoid it or escape from it with alcohol or drugs.

You may have guilty feelings or remorse over things you did or didn’t do with your server. WvW feels chaotic and scary during this phase.

3. ANGER & BARGAINING-
Frustration gives way to anger, and you may lash out and lay unwarranted blame for losses on the field. Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your reputation may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion. Try going outside. Whatever you do, please refrain from forum warrior-ing as it does no one any good.

You may rail against fate, questioning “Why me?” You may also try to bargain in vain with Anet for a way out of your despair

4. “DEPRESSION”, REFLECTION, LONELINESS-
Just when every other server may think you should be getting on with your life, a long period of sad reflection will likely overtake you. This is a normal stage of grief, so do not be “talked out of it” by well-meaning outsiders. Encouragement from others is not helpful to you during this stage of grieving.

During this time, you finally realize the true magnitude of your loss, and it depresses you. You may isolate yourself on purpose, reflect on things you did or didn’t do to keep those guilds at AR, and focus on memories of the past. You may sense feelings of emptiness or despair.

5. THE UPWARD TURN-
As you start to adjust to life without those lost guilds, your life becomes a little calmer and more organized. Your physical symptoms lessen, and your “depression” begins to lift slightly.

6. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH-
As you become more functional, your mind starts working again, and you will find yourself seeking realistic solutions to problems posed by life without your former server-mates that jumped ship. You will start to work on practical problems and reconstructing your WvW presence without them.

7. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE-
During this, the last of the seven stages in this grief model, you learn to accept and deal with the reality of your situation. Acceptance does not necessarily mean instant happiness. Given the pain and turmoil you have experienced, you can never return to the carefree, untroubled YOU that existed before this tragedy. But you will find a way forward.

You will start to look forward and actually plan things for the future. Eventually, you will be able to think about those guilds that left; sadness, yes, but the wrenching pain will be gone. You will once again anticipate some good times to come, and yes, even find joy again in the experience of living.

We are a high population, #1 ranked pvp server who had all our wvw guilds leave. we’re a bit puggy in wvw at the moment training a lot of new folks how to play the game (trying to stay positive while being camped at spawn a lot). we’ll recover but thanks for thinking of us

trust me man… AR has done MUCH worse on our way up… we kept their keep, built a waypoint there and camped there for days on end, never moved on. most of these people who are raging about what’s going on now weren’t around then and are just upset because they’re new and want to actually just play. Looking back now, its not a very nice thing to do and if I had a do-over i wouldn’t do it again (different times, different scoring system, you know…).

from what i’ve seen SF eventually does move on. its not like you have numbers to keep people everywhere at once (not a dig, just battlefield logistics). I wouldn’t worry about people raging on the forums. next week will be a new week, and there will still be a wvw. Hopefully AR has given you guys something fun to play against, even if it’s been at our spawn, you’ve given us some exciting fights (I know personally its been pretty exciting trying to keep stuff from getting capped at night when i play, we’ve won some we’ve lost some, but that is what it is all about).

I honestly don’t mind if they camp our spawn, because let’s face it. They can only get so close. Sure I’m irritated we don’t own squat, can gather our numbers to push back. But sadly the world camping our spawn always have people who get greedy with a kill and walk just a little to close. I always manage to collect badges when out front.

I agree, which is why I do not spawn camp at all. I know when we have run up against server that boast more WvW population that we do, we get spawn camped. I just happen to know there are more than one exit so I go left or right instead of straight ahead.

I have been having fun, I always do. If something is frustrating me, I just go do something else. Take yesterday for example. We were holding ETs keep for a while and they started making a major push to re-capture it. Most of our EB forces were dedicated to that so you guys started taking your side back after we had capped it all. You ended up taking all of your side of EB back while we were hanging onto ETs keep. Seemed like a lose-lose situation to me, an enemy keep is just not worth losing 1/3 of the map you already had taken.

So I went and killed Destroyer Harpies/Trolls/Crabs. And those mean harpies at the Ogres.

I love how people point and say “your ZERG this” and Because your HUGE ZERG that" blah blah blah.

For people who have been in huge zergs, have you actually seen the zerg sit and spam “Hey come join our zerg so we can roll over everything all night”?
I know the ones I end up in just have more and more people roll up in it. Mass gathers more mass like there was a gravitational pull.
Anybody ever tried to get a zerg to split when it isn’t consisting of organized guilds?
Which pugger is going to say “okay, i’ll leave this happy fun ball and break out on my own hoping others will follow me so that I don’t become bag bait for that small but oh so noble 5 man group running around stomping solos”

When you are a server consisting of not many organized WVW guilds, zergs happen. People group up because they don’t generally have small groups to run with. Running solo is tantamount to suicide on the most part.

In SFs case, they have so many WVWrs that the zergs you see running around ARE their “small” groups.
I never cease to be amazed when people complain about how unfair things get in games with WAR situations.

Sorry Asia, we here in Australia cannot possibly contend with all the troops you can throw at us so we’re going to have to ask you to only use 1/50th of your available resources and only in 5 map groups because we really don’t want to be conquered easily.

Ya, I Spent the better part of the day running around that area to make sure we were upgrading again and taking out any forces trying to snipe things. I must have done the dredge friendship thing half a dozen times solo.

Took forever to get the WP back up in SM too, you guys and AR kept taking those camps I was upgrading constantly. ARG!!!!

Just like when you got point-blank catas on a keep wall, soon as that first wall goes down: people go apekitten and start running through the breach like its time to cap the keep, and there I stand with my 3-4 cata operators looking like an kitten….Drives me crazy every time lol….

Hopefully you mentioned something about the placement too, I have seen lots of SF failapults built in that tunnel way to close to WC. In range of AC/bali/counter cata fire range or suicide dive bombable. I hear on TS that SF building catas in Dredge and my response is always, is it kitten placement again? LOL

Not that we don’t do lots of stupid kitten ourselves, especially me, I do lots of stupid kitten.

I hope we gave SF some fun today. We lost due to numbers which AR just doesn’t have. We did however keep you out of durios for 45 min and are at least doing our best with what we have available. Well played today. As long as WAR is here though, we are going to fight to the bitter end.

@Alissa, that was my first reaction when i read it too, but I think it was more just trying to be funny. laugh a little ET was a t1 server at one point but took a dive (free transfers maybe? i’m no ET historian just looking at the server history it was pretty early on) and ended up here so i think it was just a little bit of “been there brother” humor.

Today was the first time I’ve had a chance to go out & roam for a decent while. Hope the people that ran into me had a fun time, I’m the black & gold asuran engineer with the tiger finisher. Was mostly in ET/SF BL.

Had a few decent fights, but for the most part it was either running into 1-2 every once in a great while or a zerg. Was hoping the lower tiers had more roaming, but I guess it’s just less overall players. Everyone should start roaming more, at this low of a tier (and with the current matchup victor basically decided), you might as well! You can only get better as a player.

Aye thursday is fight club lots of duels to be had and sometimes small scale GvG 2s -5s is typical.

I know the usual SF folks will be there, but I’m looking forward to seeing the new AR folks and all their mesmers and guards.
