Another bro-duo matchup (kitten you Arena Net for the lack of the Bro-Trio one)… Aparently Eredon Terrace is revitalized from 2 crushing defeats, after regaining 2nd in a matchup that was almost lost. So I’d say we’ll be fighting for 1st (and might actually get it), unless mid-bro says: “NO, kitten-off”.
Also, we have Anvil Rock here with us, which also is suffering from 3 consecutive defeats… However, they may be the factor that will decide which bro will win.
NOW, ON WITH THE SHOW!
A:
<3 FC (especially Yarr) for the fun duels last night.
AR, please send some people behind AR windmill for duels. It’s been a very regular event (including reset!)
It’s happening on the same time as the usual fight night?
It is somewhat spontaneous so people just congregate there. Last night there were duelers from about 6-12pm server time. It might have started earlier but I’m not sure exactly when.
Lol good luck guys
Also I would like to say: Sorry AR, i couldn’t find a better joke…
Fergs have the lead (as expected), but I’m surprised AR is in front of ET (even if it’s just 700pts)… If fergs gain a much larger lead on both servers it will quickly become another “fight for second” week.
I will take bribes from the server that wants second place. I guarantee a second place finish or Micbobo’s money back. Any takers?
Well, judging by the map right now, the race for second started early this week… ET on ARBL and AR on ET side of EB. While Fergs run free…
If you guys didn’t know, Yarr hacks supposedly. lol
Yarr is totally full of hacks at fight club.
It’s Manvil Rock!
you yarr people disgust me

does that poi haunt you at night?
does that poi haunt you at night?
Oh no, it’s on the new event on the kessex hills. Haven’t bothered to go in there yet.
But I have 100% for a long time already…
Finally a fun matchup!
[PPK] is looking for 5v5s, 10v10s, or 15v15s.
mail me in game or on forums to set em up
You didn’t have to take the portal from the mes that glitched in IOM… TY for that.

Uh .. congrats on killing someone!
Commanders, regardless of class, are a target to any organized group for obvious reasons, and any decent 4 man should be able to drop one with a target assist regardless of what class he/she plays. It’s an expected hazard of choosing to tag up.

if it’s an expected hazard then why handicap yourself by playing one of the squishiest classes? Commanders should either be warrior or guardian…
Great duels tonight with the guild KRCO and other ET players who were there. Was super fun
Thanks [Yarr] for the 2v2s tonight, It was fun! Our planned setup was 3 but our mate had to bail (yes I’m looking at you Ken). Good news is the week’s just started so we can reconvene later.
We need to work on our team chemistry so the more practice the better.

An interesting take on what a commander should be. You do realize built/played correctly that most classes can be just as solid/tanky as a guardian or warrior, right? I have also seen both the before mentioned classes melt under focus fire just as fast as a thief. Although an interesting perspective as to what class a commander “should” be. Heck, a heavily bunkered necro is a far tankier choice than either guardian or warrior due to a huge base health pool and DS. You also need to take into account commanding style into whichever class you choose for commanding. Any player, regardless of the class they play, can be effective as a commander. Coming to the forums declaring that only 2 classes should command is absurd and uneducated.

That was not why i mentioned it – fact is a whole 30-40 manvil rock zerg is passing infront of ogrewatch… then we just come from a slope and nuke the leader of this zerg with ranged attacks and a guardian wall, and the best part was to have to kite all of them till Umberglade while the original direction you all were headed was SM

There a no classes more tanky than a warrior or guardian. Necrosis don’t have access to high armor or protection or stability. DS doesn’t mean anything if you are stunned/knocked back and it is burst down. You can build a tough Necro but he won’t be as tough as a bunker war or guard ever.
i command on my mesmer and ele sometimes. i dont find it particularly difficult to stay alive. however i have to be more mobile in battle which can confuse my zerg. it really depends on the size of the group you are leading and what your objective is.

I would submit that a bunker Engineer can be as tanky as a Warrior or Guardian. They are used to much success at current, and can be preferred over the Warrior and Guardian bunkers. However, the original point stands that a commander taken by surprise can be focused down regardless of class, and calling any person out who decides to submit to the torture of Commanding in WvW is wrong. That person deserves praise, not ridicule, regardless of class or server affiliation due to the harshness and difficulty of the job, not to mention that Commanders are needed by all servers.

I’m going to say my ranger is just as tanky as if not tankier than most guards. 7 evades with one weapon set, over 3k armor, and 27khp he’s a kitten to bring down. I play guardian too so I’m not biased. It really all matter’s on your build anyways. That being said I don’t think anything can touch a warrior on tankiness.

Necrosis don’t have access to high armor or protection or stability.
Actually wrong on all 3 counts…
Spectral Wall = Protection
Spectral Armor = Protection
Lich Form = Stability
Plague = Stability
Reasonably high armor and one of the best condition removal sets in the game.
Traited Stability on DS as well, and two massive health bars.
But like I said, uneducated about different classes.

I have a Necro I am aware of the fact that they have high and a second health bar of 15k hp. We have a commander that is a Necro and does well. I’m not saying Necro is a terrible class to command with or that it’s impossible to do so in a Necro. What I’m saying is there is no better bunker than a bunker Guard or Warrior and no other class has the survailability of those two.
Reasonabiliy high armor compared to what exactly?
I also like how you ignored the rest of what I said just so you could attack one line.

My point as I have repeatedly pointed it out is the fact that there are no other classes that can bunker as well as a guard or warrior. Now you have avoided responding to that point and tried to focus on other things but you and everyone else know that I’m right. If you think I’m wrong then I challenge you to point out that class that can do it better.
Yes other classes can bunker and be effective at it, yes other classes can command and do it well. Necro is a viable class for commanding, all I was pointing out was the reason people like the guy from the above post say that Guardians and Warriors are the best commanders is because their class mechanics make them the best at staying alive. Any class can command, it comes down to player skill at the end of the day but certain classes are better.
Also I belong on any thread I chose post in seeing how these are public forums. I can see if I went your server website and slid in there causing a ruckus but I didn’t. If you don’t have a counter argument besides the fact that I’m not in your current match up then just stop.
I dislike that we have attracted a troll and have derailed this thread. I’m very happy with the matchup this week, and I haven’t been able to play much but have had some awesome fights so far. I’m looking forward to the rest of the week!
Lets just ignore the SF troll (I know, I bit too, but I was trying to educate about commanding) and go have some fun in WvW!
Funny match up so far, quite enjoyable to hit the tail of the zerg and kite them around ! Just missing other small groups like ours roaming around so we can fight each other.
I’m really surprised at the amount of AR’s and Ferg’s I’ve seen in the field during this matchup. I was wholly unprepared for what I’ve seen so far.
I’m even MORE surprised by our lack of forces. Where is everyone this week?
I’m even MORE surprised by our lack of forces. Where is everyone this week?
Yes, we seem to have had a big drop-off in players since the start of the season and the few weeks before it started. I’m curious what happened to everyone, too. It’s been a while since there were so few people on both our Borderlands and the Eternal Battleground maps.
And before anyone from FC or AR interprets this as simply whining about numbers, I think both have really stepped up their game since the last time we played them and FC’s coordination, beyond just their numbers, has been pretty impressive. You aren’t giving us a lot of opportunities to relax and are making us work for the points we have. We’ve improved our coordination, too, which is why we were rising in the ranks before the Leagues started, but we need to get our numbers back up.
you took our hills… no more Mr.Nice-Ferg AR.

I don’t think stability on a 3 minute cooldown can be counted as reliable and no good necro build uses that stability in DS trait…I also don’t think a class with 0 mobility should be commanding.
also plz tell me how necro’s can heal better then guards with AH or warriors with healing signet?
the problem is that tankiness isn’t the only trait a commander needs it also needs:
mobility (this is not 25% movement bonus this refers to leaps and shadowsteps…)
self sustain (lots of heals)
and group support for those pushes in choke holds
and some light CC is good too
^ find a class that can do that better then a guardian or warrior and then you’ll have an argument.
certain classes can do things better then others and that’s just something you have to accept if you wanna get better at the game…you gotta learn to play your role according to your class.

Heck, a heavily bunkered necro is a far tankier choice than either guardian or warrior due to a huge base health pool and DS. You also need to take into account commanding style into whichever class you choose for commanding. Any player, regardless of the class they play, can be effective as a commander. Coming to the forums declaring that only 2 classes should command is absurd and uneducated.
good luck commanding from the ground
Player skill > Class.
I won’t deny that but again why handicap yourself when you can play a class (guard or warrior) that can lead better and easier then other classes?
Blahblahblah, can we stop complaining about who is the best commander and focus on our super-awesome-matchup…
Erm ok, i think it’s not a good trade…
I am the best commander NA.

Nah, you ‘QQ’ too much…
@Anvil Rock zerg in EB, don’t take a squishy thief as your commander, else our 4 man will drop him infront of your whole zerg :P
Why would anyone feel the need to post this?
Uh .. congrats on killing someone!

Necrosis don’t have access to high armor or protection or stability.
Actually wrong on all 3 counts…
Spectral Wall = Protection
Spectral Armor = Protection
Lich Form = Stability
Plague = StabilityReasonably high armor and one of the best condition removal sets in the game.
Traited Stability on DS as well, and two massive health bars. But like I said, uneducated about different classes.
I don’t think stability on a 3 minute cooldown can be counted as reliable and no good necro build uses that stability in DS trait…I also don’t think a class with 0 mobility should be commanding.
Two things wrong with this paragraph.
Individual stability uptime doesnt matter AT ALL when commanding a zerg. Its a ZERG, everyone and their mother is a guardian running shouts.
Second, guardians have no mobility, either.
I am the best commander NA.
tru
thanks to the ET asuran warrior w/tier 3 gear from QQ who helped me stomp some AR earlier (nothing personal AR, just fun times)
