Look, I understand, Henge of Denravi wants to feel kitten but I am going to give you tough love. It’s ’cause I care.

“Slowed down?” More like tucked tail and hid under the rug. NSP tried to do the same but got called out on it, and their roaming guilds that don’t normally care about PPT actually rose up to carry their server to silver. I still like my pals on HoD and SF, but as whole servers, you’re still a bunch of cowards for tanking to dodge silver league.

Ahh we never had a chance at silver, we were rank 20 before the leagues started and hadn’t been above rank 18 since august. Not sure why you threw our name in there. Complaining about HoD not going to silver will get you nowhere anyway since only a set number of servers could be in silver at one time. So either you would have got NSP or IOJ or HoD but you would have been complaining either way.

My apologies, there were three servers accused of tanking at the time and I think I got SF mixed up with KN (who ended up just being hit with massive population drops instead of actually tanking).

Either way, I’m definitely not complaining. Most of our matches will be against tougher opponents anyways and I much prefer that than roflstomping servers below us. I do, however, question the testicular fortitude of players who would rather dip than play. Why play a game if there’s no challenge to it? To each their own, I guess. I can’t see any fun in buying a game, then immediately setting it to Easy and feeling good about succeeding at it.

Check out the opponents that beat HOD during those “tanking” weeks. I was there every single reset and HOD gave it the ol’ college try but still ended up getting “roflstomped” due to the matchup. Yaks, Ebay and CD made life difficult, to say the least. Even so HOD still gained rank every week. Had AR beaten HOD, you’d have more of a point.

So there can’t be posts about Henge of Denravi bravado, ’cause WvW is about fights you guys made sure to avoid fights for all of the league.

Maybe after this league you will come out stronger and that would be nice to see but for now when tested did you show unyielding courage? No. Unrelenting bloodlust? No. Willingness to stack the odds so high as to show your quality? No. =(

Sounds like someone is mad because they are losing. Look, someone is going to win Bronze league and the best bet is, it’s going to be the server with the most or near the most amount of players with the most coverage. That happens to be HoD (according to current score). Someone has to take first place and it happens to HoD (currently). If you are saying that we should have moved up in leagues then why should SF be bumped up to silver as well? The scores are almost equal and this is just the first of a two week matchup with them. Does this mean that several silver league teams should be in Bronze? NSP was supposed to be better than HoD, would you rather fight them instead?
And don’t forget that all three servers that were on the brink of moving up to silver league “slowed down” the week or two prior to leagues. This is not an isolated case of “HoD is tanking they are kitten” because everyone did it that had a chance of moving up but in the end it was NSP that moved up (and probably rightly so). It’s not a question of the server but of human nature.

As far as the open field tactics and fighting goes: [EXCLUDE EB ENTIRELY, we’re talking about guild groups not pug groups] SF has been the leader in point tick during prime time, they have more people during prime time so this makes sense, but it is not a question of points when we’re talking about open fighting. In the Open field, HoD is number one in Bronze. Plain and simple. If you’d like to test this statement, we have quite a number of guilds that would jump at the chance of a GvG. SF does have really coordinated groups (I don’t know how you get them all to stack so tight) but HoD has the tactics.

This isn’t about losing. Why would I be angry at Henge of Denravi? I love you guys! You and Northern Shiverpeaks are my favourite non-Gate of Madness servers. I wish you guys the best but in the tale of two servers, one showed spirit and courage and one did not.

I hope to shame your spirited heart of war into action for season 2!

Edit: Northern Shiverpeaks didn’t tank. They did for the first couple days (+100 PPT at prime time) but they quickly changed their minds (over +300 PPT at prime time rest of the week). Kaineng didn’t tank either, turns out they are just a much weaker server. It’s all on you, Henge of Denravi. Don’t be pointing fingers at other servers.

Edit 2: Maybe this is old news to you but I didn’t wanna say anything in match up threads that didn’t involve me. Plus you made a choice that lasted for 7 weeks, so fair game for 7 weeks I believe.

I personally could give a rats kitten about winning bronze league. But from what Im getting out of it is you are saying there isnt any decent fights in Bronze league. Many fights revolve around guild fights… Please clear this up for me since there are fights in Bronze. We have wiped, and we have done the wiping.

On a side note, HoD didnt change a single rank during our “tank” we did not fight weaker servers. We fought servers 5 ranks above us. Yes, some of our WvW guilds didnt play the week. We still do that. Either cause we are bored of being camped / lack of fights / we are tired. The week before we had a match with KN that went down to the last day.

Call it whatever you want. Slowed down, tanked, whatever, but every server that was about to move up did it. It’s not our servers, it’s human nature. Don’t act like your server would do anything different in the same situation because they wouldn’t. Even if your personal position would be to move up (I was of the same opinion in terms of HoD) would the rest of your server feel the same way?

Going into this week, we warned our newer wvwers that we were going up against two larger servers, and we should not expect to get first, or even second. But, we also pointed out that more people = more loot/badges, and made the goal of this week to learn more, grow stronger, and mostly have a lot of fun with all the awesome fight opportunities. I think it’s all a matter of perspective – if you go in thinking, “Oh, we’re going to get crushed, why even bother?” you’ve pretty much decided it’ll suck right from the beginning, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I also think people forget that everyone on the bottom of bronze didn’t have a choice to tank into a more comfortable position, and that does force you to grow and work at becoming a stronger community, or your only other real option is to transfer or find a new game, because this one won’t be fun anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that NSP is a stronger server at the end of leagues. I know GoM is, and speaking for myself, I’m having WAY more fun in wvw than I’ve had in a long time!

I was of a similar opinion, but again, how do you convince your server to go along with this if you’re in a position to come in first if everything remains steady or potentially move into last place if the other servers you’re close to loses rank? There was this calm before leagues started when people just didn’t want to play so as not to ruin the community they built leading up to the league. Some of the best fights I’ve had were outnumbered against the silver league teams and some of the most boring weeks have been the weeks when we were number one. There was nothing left to take and no enemy resistance to fight against, I hated it.
I just don’t like that people think that this (tanking/slow-down/ect.) is something only “that” server would do, because it’s something (as I’m sure will be revealed when next league rolls around) that all those in a position to move up in leagues will end up doing. Even if half your server wants to move up and the other half wants to stay where they are, there is a ripple effect (snowballing, ect..) that happens when your friends don’t play and the coordination is broken. The fairweathers stop coming out due to low numbers and the servers you’re fighting against get a bit of a “rally” in terms of lower enemy resistance.
In the extreme cases (as NSP saw, though I’m sure was exaggerated) there was lots of yelling and hurt feelings and the possibility that some of your more prominent guilds would transfer if you did move up, putting the other guilds in a position to choose either to move up to better competition and hurt the community or slow down to avoid the community fallout and have less fun overall to keep everyone together and move up the next tier in the following league.

EDIT: NSP did tank, and the matchup thread is still active if you’d like to see the yelling. The point spread alone in those weeks said it all. Yes by the end of the week there was no hope of staying where they were and they accepted the position (as they were number one in Bronze at the time). They tanked, but Kain lost their guilds and losing ranks faster than the people on NSP who wanted to tank, could tank. And don’t think that HoD was completely hell bent on tanking. We were facing very high ranked servers leading up the leagues and still managed to put on a show and have those higher servers praise us in the forums for our fighting spirit (again, still an active thread). It was believed at the time that Kain was trying to tank, not by all, but certainly by most on HoD and NSP who wanted to stay where they were. This only strengthened the argument for them to tank.

It’s not important if you didn’t change ranks, it’s only important you tried to not gain rating on purpose to avoid silver league. A server should always fight, no matter the odds. That’s courage, that’s purpose, that’s valour.

When asked hypothetically what you thought of having hard fights, Henge of Denravi said “No, we’d like something easy for 7 weeks please” and that’s the crutch of it. It’s what you said that I hold against you for those 7 weeks. The server that only wants easy fights.

When Tossed Fish said somethin to the effect that you were on PvE vacation for that week, I thought “No, what you’re choosing is a 7 week long PvE vacation over WvW”. So heart broken. =(

I think this game fits into a weird sort of place due to how it encourages communities to grow and come together on each server. Yes, it’s “just a game,” but the people playing the game, the communities of people that have been built up and nurtured, are something more than “just a game.” Each of our words and actions affects all the other people in these communities, and it’s good to be mindful of that.

I see a lot of people complaining about how modern technology makes us too insulated from one another and destroys communities… I’d argue that it’s giving us more tools to build some very unique communities that were never possible before (I mean, I hang out with people in other countries on a fairly regular basis – when in the past were you able to do that??). The "actual world "you’re talking about – you’re talking about a collection of people, the same people who are sitting on their butts and playing this game with you.

If you don’t play during NA Primetime, I don’t doubt it. A lot of people didn’t even go to bed in the hopes to match HoD’s numbers on Friday. Since Saturday, when they couldnt take it and went to bed, we’ve had the outnumbered buff too much outside EBG.

Yeah I am stuck with an odd schedule but it’s still wild, the fights are great regardless.

I will simplify it, Write it in Crayon

1. If you’re roaming you shouldn’t run into 20+ man groups

2. If you’re SF and in a group there is no way in hell that you have been outnumbered at anytime most likely in this match up maybe 10% of the time.

3. SF clearly outnumbers HOD number wise, skill wise that may vary

1. I roamed in and engaged groups of less than 5.

2. Every single engagement today has been severely outnumbered by hod(while in zerg, so you don’t confuse roaming and zerg again).

Jereme is actually correct on number 3. I have faced both of your servers, and unless Darkhaven outnumbers SF (which is a laughable thought), then HoD is certainly outnumbered by you. HoD wins on coordination and their zergs being high quality.

You should find it odd that two GoM people have came in and said that your post is funny :P.

You all would be right if it weren’t for a little thing called: variation. The HoD you faced may or may not be the same ones “server _” faces.

Populations are not static, so saying as a generalized statement that: “Server A has more people than Server B” is not really accurate. Because you always have to take into account outside variables: PVE, fairweathers, snowballing, etc.

You are all arguing about my own experiences with zergs vs HoD, and you don’t find it the least bit odd. I specifically said we were out numbered 90% of the fights I have been in. I really don’t know how to make it any clearer than that.

I agree that a server should always fight, no matter what, and that’s precisely what myself and large part of our community was doing those past few weeks before the leagues. Fighting and learning from the higher tiers. That improvement in tactics certainly did not come overnight. Sure, some people decided to tank so as not to get into silver, but casting an entire server with a blanket statement is as good as labeling an entire server as hooligans just after one guy dances on your corpse. Many fought, regardless of being outmanned by a higher tier server, and there was even a guild set up on HoD, dedicated in pushing us to silver.

If you ask me, NSP deserves that spot in silver more than us. The few times we’ve gone up against them in the past always ended up in losses. We weren’t sure of our strength vs SF and DH too. That’s where HoD really hovers in terms of population and overall skill.

O god [MU] how much more do u wanna brag?? u guys come from T1 come down to bronze where its quite obvious most of the servers/guilds down here don’t have the knowledge or experience of BG/JQ or w.e other top tier servers u guys have played in but then transfer and do all this “amazing stuff” and then rub it in.. but i mean how good are you really if you had to transfer down to bronze and pick your fights where u know work is needed in most of the servers down here big time.. not to mention its a whole guild of you guys that made the move. thinking about the givin situation im really not so impressed anymore… but i guess keep trolling the forums to boost your own ego.

I’m sorry that you got frustrated with our posts on these forums but the main reason to do them was to get SF to come out and fight and they did. We were not here to brag or “thump our chests” as some people say.

We did not transferred the whole guild down here, only 5 MU came down to HoD to help the server in training in all aspects of WvW. The rest of MU members now have come from HoD and never have fought in the “top tiers”. We were sick of the tier 1 ques and tactics and wanted to move down to help a server.

So next time you make a troll post about your frustration do the research before making false accusations and also my account name is here and I’m more than welcome to talk in whispers.

I hope SF as a whole is having as much fun as we are and take this as a way to improve your tactics. We are also more than welcome to talk and help out as much as we can.

Actually I learned tremendously of how zergs should function intelligently. I think most of SF is having a lot of fun here. The soul fact that our zergs have stopped being zombies(the ones I’m apart of) is awesome. Granted, that isn’t to say that HoD is better in any way, but it seems as though HoD came in strong with numbers and tactics while we being complacent had unorganized numbers and limited use of tactics. I think the battles will get better because of the tightening up, and I was promised cake at one of your keeps. Or assumed there was cake there… Probably promised.

So I can attest to what Laorian is saying he moved down to Bronze league one to reform and two to help HoD improve. It seems everything is working as intended. We miss [MU] up in gold league but I see they are still making guilds rage quit.

no one rage quit bro im out there in wvw day in and day out regardless of the outcome im no fairweather homie.. and ya boy that your confiding in so much cant seem to keep it clean w.o posting a “million” pics of what happened through the night.. must of pinched a nerve somewhere for some 1 from BG to put his 2 cents in..

At least you guys arent complaining about our FARM people, its our “newbie” training tag that we do every so often, so you know if you see them, expect them to be what they are.

Some guys in our last match were so hard up on our little FARM we run about once or twice a week it was pathetic. They were so raging, and on top of that they were supposed to be serious WvW guilds

SF has gotten some individual person transfers from upper tiers for the largely same reasons, but we have never had any large guild hop down to us and stay. Only guild that did was VS, they were cool, they said upfront they werent staying, just goin to hang out and do some WvW for a month or 2. So they said what they were going to do, and did what they said which is all right.

It’d be nice to get an off-peak time transfer, but on the other hand, we dont want temps or fairweathers or rather “lagweathers” sorta speak.

I thought VS came down to FC, not to SF…

Shout out to all those people within the last hour or two that were /laugh spamming, then either ran or died when you got caught 1v1. Special notice to those of you who were /sitting on that uplevel, must feel good to have finally killed someone.
