Thanks for all the fights at SFR borderlands today. We had few close calls in Hills keep until SFR finally took it and those fights were really intensive.

Don’t be too disappointed on Desolation if you have hard time finding guild groups roaming around. Most of our pure WvW guilds are not here anymore(we still have some) and the ones that are left are mostly PvX. Most likely you will find “Deso blob” running around in borderlands, but maybe at times you might be positively surprised to find individual guilds moving as groups.

Situation(in my eyes) currently is so that we have to organize our wvw groups from multiple guilds with maybe a backbone of 10-15 from one guild at a time.

I do have to commend SFR guilds already for their fighting ability. Today in SFR borderlands we had to cover what we lacked in skill/build/organisation with tenacity and siege weapons.

Thanks to all the new Desolation people who joined us in our community teamspeak! It’s really nice to see more and more new people willing to join us and listen!

Also not going to pull allnighters anymore, i’ll just leave it for today. Our server seems to suffer from identity crisis atm, since we had to paint stuff green, i’m sure it will sort itself out as we go along.

It’s been a refreshing reset night so far. Having a blast again for the first time in very, very long. Hopefully we can have a good, even matchup. Having charged my batteries over so many weeks, it’s finally time to pull some allnighters again. It will sure be interesting. Good luck everyone.

I was rather shocked after last nights reset hammering to 3rd place from Kodash and SFR to awaken to a complete role reversal with Deso in the lead and stomping around EB at 8-9am GMT.

Im guessing people were on the Red Bull all night should have drank the stuff myself as after a hard days work and 5 tins of Guinness i fell asleep after 2-3hrs lol now go have a well deserved lie down and conserve your energy for the fights to come

Looks like Deso ain’t doing to bad, no doubt we’ll have fair weathers flocking back into wvw which isn’t a bad thing as we may be able to field more than EB and Deso BL.

Welcome Desolation, happy to cross swords with you again! Couldn’t play much at reset, still had fun. Impressive trying to kill one of your dolyaks and crashing into 20 of your players escorting it! I wish we gave to escorting/defending camps has much importance as you do!

Also notice how nice the thread is, it must be because everyone has finally gotten rid of boring as skritt Vizunah and Jade blobs.

SFR on Deso borderlands, are you guys all guardians and necros? So many of them lol!

What a difference from T1, you really need player skill in T2! In T1 it was just numbers pressing 1 and 24/7 full coverage.

Good players on SFR side, didn’t had the pleasure to meet Kodash yet!

Actually T2 is also just 24/7 coverage but there are smaller groups out. Last week I also noticed some SFR groups stacked full with Retaliation … No chance for pure AoE damage at all when you get 13-15k damage just by Retaliation, heh.

We get rofl-stomped by a huge SFR blob whenever we try to hold our spawn tower or get a go at Hills – you might have seen them as you ran away from them some hours ago west of our tower

I really liked fighting SFR guilds last week! (confession: we did not blob intentionally in the situations mentioned in the previous’ week’s thread, but had many random sandwich situations cause of lack of open map space… you, too, caught us with 2x 30+ guys many times )

But today it is just kinda “frustrating” (like in: I’d have more fun if I wasn’t just capturing objectives for karma and then throw it away) to have the outmanned buff for hours and get karma-trained by blobs of both Desolation and Seafarers. I’d really like to see some smaller groups as it would be much more fun fighting (for us) than getting run over, over and over, or just wait for the lord’s buff to vanish to recapture some camps, our tower and hills with PvDoor.

Reset night on Kodash Borderlands was pretty relaxed, though. Home border is 2 factions pushing north, most of the time. It seemed as if both Deso and SFR didn’t really care about that paradigm, but instead there were orange swords in the ruins most of the time.
Gives me a warm, fuzzy glimpse of hope that we’ll have much small- and mid-scale raid-fun in the open fields between all three servers during the week

Apart from the 1 biggish SFR group, T2 has been Great fun… actually is a refreshing feeling NOT having skill lag during the day and NOT having my Charr face run over by mass VS/Elona groups :P

Had some nice fights with SFR and Kodash today.. hopefully it stays like this for a good while

I would like to welcome Desolation to T2 on behalf of Seafarer’s Rest Alliance. We’re glad that you are alive. I really hope that this tier will be a breath of fresh air for your server and you will be able to re-organise everything like we did. No one can understand your situation better. We wish you luck !

We’ve got the unique opportunity to Unblob this tier completely. Kudos to all roaming groups. Very nice fights so far guys.

Nice rampage in EB today, IDDQ seriously put up some good fights and got the better of us for 2 hours till we got more people organised. Logged off with around 7 walls down in SM it was nonstop defense and offence all day bloody loved it!

The tower sieges are more revolved around wiping attackers / defenders without sitting inside on siege all the time which is refreshing, you guys nearly got alot of towers so many times haha lead in EB for like 8 hours I’m shattered after none stop action.

So overall loving T2, actually disappointed the matchup system changing and this may only last a week

SFR is playing more and more Visunah style (mega blobs and similar routes to move on the map, 5+ man teams chasing one player for 5 minutes, as if there wouldn’t be better things to do ;-) ).

It is too early to predict the winner, but I think SFR will win slightly this week due their better coverage and daytime numbers. Kodash will be #3.

Well, of course my opinion is biased, because I can only see my screen. ;-)

But calm down. My comment wasn’t mean as an insult, but more like an analysis. Big part of commanding is trying to anticipate what the enemy does next. A good commander knows when and where to strike and when to change direction.

Visunah Square of course has been using solid tactics to be in tier #1 from the beginning. Players who say VS is only about numbers are either angry from defeat (I can also do that) or don’t understand how VS plays.

I have just noticed that the SFR style of playing has become more similar to VS. Good servers should copy the best from others, so nothing bad in it. Kodash on the other hand doesn’t follow the same patterns. I cannot yet read their game so easily.

This might anger some Desolation players as well, but big part of VS success has been their PuGs and I want to copy that to Desolation. I want that in Desolation every single player feels welcome. No matter what is their nationality, their native language or experience. Even if he is upleveled, under geared or plays a bad build. I want that everybody at Desolation side to enjoy the game and win.

I would just like to chime in and say “Thank the gods we’re out of T1!”

I’ve spent quite a bit of time on BL’s and EB today and I really enjoy the change of scenery and playstyle from both Kodash and Seafarer’s Rest. Fighting against Vizunah was so incredibly boring.

So after months and months of torment, we finally managed to get down. I am so happy and hope we’ll stay in T2 for a very long time!

(although this new ‘rotation system’ will probably mess everything up and next week we’ll be seeing Vizunah running away to their arrowcarts again)

There was some good action on Borderlands even till past midnight unlike last nights reset although where I went the numbers were uneven at times until late cause so many people was stacked on EB, we were caught by surprised by Kodash’s numbers late at night you almost managed to capture our whole Borderlands but I hope you learned from that moment you were inside our Garrison Lord room to contest the waypoint no matter what.
It is pretty strange to find it pretty dead at night without zergs running around and seeing orange swords, we’ve been night capping this weekend with a couple of people on Borderlands afaik but I don’t think it will continue during the week after one all nighter it’s not that fun without resistance, tbh after being night capped for weeks in T1 I think the amount of points you can gain from just PvD is crazy and I myself wake up so tired in the afternoon!

Now you understand while most of SFR went to rest/pubbing/enjoying the weekend after 23:00 . Points are meaningless, PvD is meaningless.

Dear Desolation,

Just because we are in Tier 2 now, does not mean we have to turn into Vizunah. We as a server did nothing but complain about night cap PVD for 3 months straight. There is no excuse for us to have a 500+ point tick as soon as night hits now that we have weaker competition.

Instead, enjoy yourselves with the fights still. Day fights are awesome in t2, having tons of fun. But it wasn’t fun waking up with a t1 keep in EB, it won’t be fun for Kodash and SFR tomorrow.

Let’s let everyone have fun! We aren’t in t1 any more, we don’t have to counter night blobbing with night blobbing! We can relax! Come on people!

After that, we have been fighting a completely hopeless battle for 16 weeks straight, entering WvW maps knowing before the match had even started we’d have been massively outmanned by Vizunah, then SFR, then Vizunah again, then Elona.

During that period we also lost practically all of the so called “hardcore” WvW guilds whose only hardcore achievement is the speed at which they run away from hard fights.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand why the few who are left on Deso are hungry for a win, after such a long time. In any case, don’t worry, what happened these past 2 days is mostly due to an extremely small number of people pulling all nighters to bring Deso ahead. I don’t know if it will be sustainable during the week, and SFR afternoons are much stronger than Deso.

I don’t think the guilds who left Desolation were good at running away from hard fights. E.g. I highly respect the players of Vengeange of the Fallen [VotF]. Those guys were tough and I wish they would someday come back to Desolation. Same for many other great guilds we lost e.g. Golden Horde [GH], BULL and so on (sorry not to mention you all).

The lag issues are mostly gone. There is usually no queue, except to EB on popular hours. Well, our own borderlands might have queue in evenings, especially at reset night.

I fully agree with MagnusL with the rest of his post. Deso players have been overrun by greater enemy forces for many months now. We have usually won evenly numbered fights and that is still true. After the mass exodus we are mostly left with PuGs and pvx guilds, who do WvWvW, but mainly pve or other stuff. But our PuGs are now hungry for the win and getting 100% map completion. SFR has bigger numbers on afternoons for sure. But during the evenings we can also put up a good fight.

Our fighting style is pretty aggressive. We don’t just sit inside our keeps and towers. I hope some of our enemies will enjoy the open fights.

All I’m saying is remember how demotivating it was for you when you woke up with all t2/t3 keeps had been reset by night capping Vizunah, it’s probably what killed t1 and now your doing the same to t2.

You have elitism in EB? We have random “beta weekend” zerging in EB. Sometimes some guild go there sake of trolling and steamroll couple towers and leave.

I was just pointing out the irony on you guys comparing us to VS while nightcapping the kitten out of everyone ;-)
