Since it looks like SBI is going to be tumbling down to Silver, I figured I would start the discussion of what this crapfest of a league will look like. I honestly feel bad for the other servers in Silver league, and also hope that nobody transfers to SBI for an easy win in Silver. Please look to mid-tier silver league servers so we can get some better competition.

With that said, here is my analysis of the servers.

The lineup as of 10/16:

7. Stormbluff Isle My home server. Currently stacked (by silver league standards) with transfers, and probably the favorite to win the Silver League but lacks reliable guilds for off hour coverage. Exceptionally weak EU coverage. Stormbluff Isle will undoubtedly suffer from PvE players and fairweathers packing into the server at all hours of the day, most of whom will not be interested in being team players or getting on teamspeak. This should result in an extremely volatile level of skill from SBI, but the sheer numbers will likely discourage opposition.

8. Fort Aspenwood Former T2 server that lost some guilds. It remains to be seen whether or not they can steady the ship. The recent SBI-Mag-FA matchup showed remnants of well rounded coverage, but with visible holes left from the guilds who transferred off. Some easy match-ups could bring out their fairweathers and rejuvenate their base.

9. Dragonbrand Another former T2 server that lost many guilds to T1 recruiters. From what I understand, they maintain a reasonably strong OCX/SEA coverage base, but many of their NA guilds have left the server. Some more reasonable match-ups for seven weeks straight could allow them to re-build their base and possibly even attract badly needed NA transfers to compete for the top of the league.

10. Ehmry Bay From what I understand Ehrmy Bay has very strong NA, but almost non-existent off hour coverage. It is also rumored they lost a few guilds to T1, but someone would need to verify this for me. They could be strong competitors in NA prime and with a bit of support from their PvE off hour community may contend for the top of the league.

11. Borlis Pass From what I understand they lost some guilds, but also picked up a badly needed Oceanic guild as well as a few other NA guilds. The attitude on their server forums seems upbeat with many of their community leaders believing they can compete for the top spot in the silver league. It remains to be seen just how strong BP has gotten from their transfers and how much their PvE community comes out to support them during the season.

12. Yak’s Bend Stable community that hasn’t really seen any guilds come or go (from my understanding). They have pretty reasonable coverage for this tier at all hours, but not enough in any one area to be serious competitors for the top spots in the league. With some transfer love they may be able to make a push late, but as they stand now they don’t have the firepower to compete with the upper echelon of the silver league.

13. Crystal Desert Kind of a Wild Card. From what I understand they have a fairly robust OCX/SEA coverage base, but many members on their server are disgruntled with the server community. If their PvE and fairweather crowd show up to supplement their NA coverage and their off hour coverage is strong they could probably compete with anybody in this league. An added bonus for them is having many months experience fighting T2 and T3 opponents.

14. Isle of Janthir The server was rivaling SBI in quantity of guild transfers for a while, but the wheels seem to be coming off with major guilds such as [SE] and [SIC] leaving the server for greener pastures. This will inevitably drive a stake into an already fragile community that was largely built up on transfers. They do supposedly have a strong Oceanic presence, but I believe that this OCX presence is composed primarily of fairweather players who won’t come out in tough matches.

15. Northern Shiverpeaks Man, I just feel bad this server is even lumped into this tier. They have some excellent roamers like [XOXO], but have no business fighting in Silver League. Their off hour-coverage is non-existent, and any NA presence lives and dies with the [Os] guild who can only be on one map at any given time. They need much more firepower to compete in this league, and being at the bottom of Silver League makes it unlikely their PvE players will be very interested in stepping their toes into WvW.

With regards to NSP, I feel bad for the majority of the people on the server. Whoever ends up getting 15th place by the end of the current matchup is going to have a long 2 months of getting spawncamped.

That said, I would very much enjoy if rumors of a particular person being on NSP were true, because one would assume if it was, it might show them firsthand exactly why these leagues don’t really make matches more competitive.

Devon did state he will be on NSP and will be getting the meta achievement.

However it is suspect whether NSP will capture SMC 5 times in the entire season, let alone a single player present all 5 times. The meta is still probably achievable due to I’m guessing recapping your own keeps and towers counts, and dolyaks and sentries and BL points are always possible…. and then of course 4 puzzles >.<

Northern Shiverpeaks definitely has a challenge ahead of them but we will fight.
Weapons are being sharpened.
Clones are being spawned.
Thieves are hiding.

Operation: Season 1 Upset has begun.

Any players/guilds looking for a real challenge this season are going to be joining Northern Shiverpeaks before it is too late.

I’m on NSP and it’s going to suck. It’s NOT going to be a challenge…..a challenge would imply that you have a chance of succeeding, we have no chance. Once again, anyone who thinks we do have a chance is simply being delusional. It has nothing to do with having a negative attitude or what not, it simply is the cold hard facts. Completely outnumbered and absolute lack of coverage is going to equal 2 months of crapfest. We have an artificially high ranking after a pretty long stretch of fighting opponents much higher ranked than us…..we have no business in Silver. Hell, our population and coverage wouldn’t even be the highest in Bronze.

Don’t pity NSP. Bronze league is a snorefest, and our dedicated wvw player base doesn’t want easy wins.

We’re going to silver league, and were proud of it. Personally, as a solo roamer, I can’t wait to outplay you guys in outnumbered fights. NSP is going to wreck your kitten. Be afraid.

This tier would have been the best one going if they had split it at 1-3, then 4-9, and then 10-15. Both Silver and Bronze would then be quite good.

As it stands, I think most of the matches will still be fairly competitive, with poor NSP the only really lowbie server dragged in here.

SBI seems somewhat an underserving winner if they do, due to the all recent stacking and seeming fair weather play to end up here. Not sure that Mag’s oblivious narcissism would have been a better top dog but at least they fought it out for gold.

DB seems to be waning and I don’t think will stomp the lower servers as bad as they used to. Even if they do, most their strength is off peak so that NA servers can still compete with them in prime time, making them not so bad to play.

10-14 in any match together should be good.

Don’t know what to make of the slightly lagging FA, maybe they will recover their strength as a Silver server and end up winning.

I hadn’t heard that PPK left.

SE went Euro, rumor has it BG bought CORE.

It will be fun facing SBI again with their new numbers, also looking forward to see FA in action since we’ve never drawn them. Old faces, new faces…should be a good time.

Lame, CORE was a native guild too, if I recall. Heh, seems like leagues was the single worst thing to happen to server population since end of free transfers.

I hate leagues. We’ll tell our story more later though.

CORE has not decided. I can say pretty confidently it won’t be gold and won’t be bronze. We’ll have a decision by tonight.

Oh the joys of a stupid system.

Hmm, transfering for a dolyak makes no kitten sense. Transfering a guild to t1, is even more kittened. Not fun if you can’t get your guild together on the same map, or even if some of the members can’t even get in.

Transfering to t2, or below makes more sense, but again, WHY? Stay with you community, have fun, and some match ups will be good and some bad during the leagues.

Remember, 7vs8vs9 will happen only once the whole 7 weeks. 1vs2vs3, will happen, at the most, 2 times during the season.

So, transferring for fights that will not materialize, is also rather stupid.

Think before you leap.

Of course, you could spend all that money to transfer to a server that has a chance to win, log in for the week, then transfer back to your server and still get the dolyak at the end of the season. Waste of money if you ask me, but I am sure some people will do it.

Whoever is moving hopefully will try and not imbalance more.

I’ve always been a big proponent of play where you’re happy. Before the leagues no one really cared where folks transferred to but now that its for a reward its a huge issue.

If you aren’t enjoying a game you paid for, find a way to enjoy it. If you still can’t then you are kittened.

I’m going to miss the random matchups we’ve had over the last weeks. SoS has played against servers we never had seen previously.

1 – SBI
2 – FA
3/4 – DB/BP
5 – CD
6 – YB
7 – EB
8 – IoJ
9 – NSP

Epic battle for 1st between SBI and FA. FA has picked up FTF from Ebay and their oceanic force is still around. SBI beat Mag/FA due to their NA guilds (Abys/BAEST/TE) playing well into oceanic prime time. They’ll get tired eventually. The question is, when? Does FA have enough to take them on?

3rd/4th will be a battle between BP and DB. Right now BP is looking stronger but DB has its enormous pve population that it can rely on. NNK, TFV and GA are still there as well and they are much better at capping keeps and open field fighting than DPS. Participation by pve/x guilds will determine who gets 3rd.

CD has asians, YB has weekend warriors. CD wins overall.

I’ve heard IoJ is losing several guilds. Well, I hope they don’t transfer to T1 servers. They’ll still have enough of an oceanic presence to beat NSP.

I hope NSP is up for the challenge.

YB doesn’t have weekend warriors anymore. We tend to be stable throughout the week in terms of coverage. Ebay pushes kitten weekends, then wanes during the week. DB will be a wildcard imo. Really gonna be interesting to see how their SEA forces keeps the ppt up.

im on FA and we are looking forward to great fights during the leagues. we love fun fights and are not afraid of challenges. this past 2 weeks have been way more fun than the all the matchups we had with t1 as it is less zergy and we face lots of skilled players. we are not a ppt hunting server and never were. we’d rather find an awesome fight than mindless zerg a keep.

Your opinion of Yak’s Bend is a bit off. We finished ahead of Ehmry Bay by 130,000 points just last week.

Update for those of you wondering.

I don’t share the rest of the people from NSP in this thread’s optimism. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised, but I doubt it. Previous similar match ups mere weeks ago already demonstrated how this is probably going to pan out.

BTW, I think it was pretty unwise to announce the leagues and give people kitten near a month to stack servers, manipulate their ranks, and kill server communities because most people don’t want to be on the losing team. A lot of servers have been crippled before they even get a chance to compete, and thanks to the wonky ranking system apparently NSP gained rank somehow by getting our kittens kicked for almost 2 months against the very servers we’re now supposed to compete against in a league? Makes sense.

Hardly that little. Not to mention their commanders have rallied pugs together into organized guilds the last week. The BP you all knew is way more deadly now then It has been. This isnt even including the PvE population that will be coming in.

Dootmaster, I share your outlook on things regarding NSP. To be quite honest I’m not going to go through 7 more weeks of crap. I’ve been on NSP since launch….I only play GW2 for the WvW…..I’m just frustrated at this point. Most weeks we go out and face off against numerically superior opponents, and that’s ok within reason. Like I have said before, I’m ok with not “winning”, but I want to at least have decent fights. We won’t be getting those for the next 7 weeks…..

I’m just burned out on the massive overwhelming odds…..maybe if I enjoyed PVE it wouldn’t bother me as much but I don’t. The guys that were pushing for us to be in silver rather than do what Kain and HoD have been doing….well good luck. Somehow I doubt all those blowhards will be around after the first week or two. My buddies and me have decided to bid our home goodbye and plan on picking somewhere…..anywhere…..where we can at least have even remotely even odds.

yup fa is fine we are reorganizing a lot and having a ton of fun lately. fighting t1 servers sure wasnt fun for many of us. i think all the fairweathers will come out and play when the leagues start.plus we just got more transfers of some pretty fun people so we will be fine.

count CD out. we only have SEA force to cover our butt. the rest of the day we’re dead meat. the other strong guilds, INC and EK left for FA i think.

Should be an interesting 7 weeks to say the least.

FA definitely cares about the fights more than the ppt. At least down at the havoc level I play at. Can’t wait to battle it out with SBI.

I came here from CD, and I can tell you INC went to mag, and EK went to BG. That leaves CD short Zerg busting guilds, though last I heard TIME was trying to fill that gap. Maybe someone from cd can chime in.

Watch for bad guilds to start moving from the bottom of that list to near the top real soon.

If you don’t know what’s going on then chances you don’t play WvW that much to begin with, and you aren’t involved at all. If you really care, there is a forums to get caught up: http://www.fort-aspenwood.com

FA’s been in a hard spot between the T1 Servers and the Silver servers. Its not an ideal position for us or anyone at all and we don’t envy the servers that we know aren’t going to do well against us. Many of us wanted desperately to stay in Gold, but the past matchups have drained our smaller guilds, militia commanders, and our off hour guilds who constantly fought while it wasn’t fun.

None of us want to see FA do that to you guys in silver, and while we are going to silver, our intention is absolutely to build back up and return to gold and our solid ranking as a “T2” server. I don’t envy the position the silver servers are in, cause its probably going to be similar to the one we’ve been in the better part of the RNG matches the past few months.

We DO hope for as many competitive fights as possible, and you members of competitive guilds should be ready to set up GvGs with our guilds whenever we get matched up.

HOPE will be looking for 20v20 matches throughout the league.

The only reason NSP is in silver is because we have more players (than HoD/Kain) that place their pride over their enjoyment of the game. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Our only serious WvW guild (Os), knew that bronze was where we belonged, even though they wanted to be in silver for the competition. Some ignorant people flamed Os for this decision (which was a completely selfless one), so Os took us to silver to prove themselves to said people.

I’d say it’s some consolation to know that the NPS’ers that wanted us in silver are going to be getting their faces beaten in, but it’s really not. I won’t be able to enjoy my favourite aspect of the game for 7 weeks unless I leave my home server, which I have gotten very attached to.

This entire “WvW season” thing was a horrible idea, and is only rivaled in horribleness by the fact that Anet gave people so much time to destroy their own servers via transfers, stacking, throwing, and the results of differing opinions on those topics. I for one know that NSP was split between people who wanted bronze vs silver, and we risked losing multiple guilds and guild leaders over the whole thing.

As someone said earlier, those who see this as a challenge for NSP to overcome are delusional. The word “challenge” implies a chance of success. What’s even more ridiculous is how many NSP’ers think we fought hard and earned a rightful place in silver league. They don’t seem to understand that we are here because of illegitimate action taken by other servers who purposely lowered their WvW score to take what should have been our position in bronze.

What’s really funny is that Devon thinks he’s going to finish the Season 1 meta on NSP. The only way we are getting Stonemist Castle is if the other servers pity us and give it to us freely.

The leagues haven’t even started yet. Don’t get discouraged. You won’t be fighting the stronger servers every week. You guys are probably on par with IoJ now and during NA prime you’ll probably be on par with CD.
