I am pretty sure leagues were introduced for $$$ from gem transfers. You’d have to be pretty cray cray not to realise Gold League is going to be a joke as far as 1st, 2nd & 3rd place are concerned.
The only reason NSP is in silver is because we have more players (than HoD/Kain) that place their pride over their enjoyment of the game. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Our only serious WvW guild (Os), knew that bronze was where we belonged, even though they wanted to be in silver for the competition. Some ignorant people flamed Os for this decision (which was a completely selfless one), so Os took us to silver to prove themselves to said people.
I’d say it’s some consolation to know that the NPS’ers that wanted us in silver are going to be getting their faces beaten in, but it’s really not. I won’t be able to enjoy my favourite aspect of the game for 7 weeks unless I leave my home server, which I have gotten very attached to.
This entire “WvW season” thing was a horrible idea, and is only rivaled in horribleness by the fact that Anet gave people so much time to destroy their own servers via transfers, stacking, throwing, and the results of differing opinions on those topics. I for one know that NSP was split between people who wanted bronze vs silver, and we risked losing multiple guilds and guild leaders over the whole thing.
As someone said earlier, those who see this as a challenge for NSP to overcome are delusional. The word “challenge” implies a chance of success. What’s even more ridiculous is how many NSP’ers think we fought hard and earned a rightful place in silver league. They don’t seem to understand that we are here because of illegitimate action taken by other servers who purposely lowered their WvW score to take what should have been our position in bronze.
What’s really funny is that Devon thinks he’s going to finish the Season 1 meta on NSP. The only way we are getting Stonemist Castle is if the other servers pity us and give it to us freely.
The leagues haven’t even started yet. Don’t get discouraged. You won’t be fighting the stronger servers every week. You guys are probably on par with IoJ now and during NA prime you’ll probably be on par with CD.
I’m on NSP and Curo is right in that we will almost certainly get stomped 7 weeks in a row.
We’ve been fighting servers in the silver league 4 weeks out of the past 6. We had IoJ just 3 weeks ago and CD 4 weeks ago. Unless they have suffered catastrophic loses of practically all their guilds, their population still far exceeds ours.
The funny thing is I’ll bet many (certainly not all, I can think of some exceptions) of those who were OUTRAGED that others wanted in bronze league will probably disappear out of WvW a couple weeks into the league.

That’s the thing, every server we’ll be facing is a stronger server.
We’ve also faced CD and IoJ enough recently to know that we are nowhere near parity with them.

Hum whenever their is a rating gap of 100 ranking point the match-up tends to be a blowout. The server rank 15 has a 200 rating gap between the 14th rank server. This mean every server in silver league will stomp on the 15th rank server.
Looks like FA might actually be able to beat SBI now with all the transfers, but we will see. If they keep this crazy PPT up for the next day or so, they will sneak into gold league.
To be honest I would scratch off SBI from the silver league. FA are killing it and dropping Mags evolution points, while we’re managing to out play SoS.
Have fun in silver everyone o/
Seems that Core didn’t know if SBI or Mag was gonna be in gold, so they transferred to FA so they could stay in silver. But, with how well FA is doing now, they might sneak into Gold, which is where Core didn’t want to transfer to.
That last place for gold is getting juicy.
So for nsp people who haven’t bothered to read most of the posts here’s the break down on why you are on par.

Edited for accuracy. I know when it happened as IoJ was fighting them at the time. It does not change the fact CD NA prime is not what it use to be though.
CD NA prime is essentially just pugs running under random commanders. There are no real large NA guilds that run 20+ anymore. Although we have IEX that’s up and coming, formed from INC members who stayed on CD if I recall correctly.
The 3 guilds I am in (bout 1k-ish ppl total) in FA have been avoiding wvw in hopes to get into silver league. As far as we have been concerned there is nothing to benefit from being in one of the last spots in gold.

Then the 3 guilds you are in are probably not WvW guilds and don’t WvW to begin with anyways.
HOPE wants nothing more than to go to Gold League, but we know it will hang out the smaller guilds, militia commanders, and non-NA guilds out to dry if we push hard, cause they probably won’t make it through 7 weeks. Catch 22.
BP’s strength has always been its PUG Zergs. We have a cadre of very skilled Militia Commanders that can rally some major forces to a map and get them organized and wrecking. I don’t know how many times I have seen guild groups charge at one of our zergs with a mix of guilds tags in it and expecting it to melt, only to be the ones floored instead. Things get really interesting when one of our PvE zergs makes the hop to WvW. Zero to que in 5 seconds.
The guild I am in in NSP have maybe 30 to 40 mostly casual WvW players.
From what I read on our forums, many will not even bother to go to WvW if the server is in silver league
I bet it’s the same for most other casual WvW players out there.
I think it’s a tossup whether the small group guilds would want gold or not. But I can definitely tell you we play as hard as we can to take towers, camps, doly snacks, ninja bay (like we did last night in cd), or anything else we can to help our server. Nobody I know of in wvw ever tries to intentional lose.

I would say IEX is on the rise, but at least 5 INC/EK players went to Orb as well. Our NA is not as dead as some people make it out to be. We are reorganizing and will be just fine in that time slot. I also know 3 or 4 NA guild’s that can field 20 plus if needed.
I would love to be able to spectate the Mag and SBI matches. Down to the wire!
To you Nsp cry babies.. get out there and fight. Please, I for one will be there swimming in zergs of baddie 11111 spammers. You can to.
Count IoJ out basically. CORE, SE, PPK all left(or in process of leaving).

Nah tbh we aren’t on par with any of the servers in silver, but we will still show up and fight hard. My only concern is the fact that most matchups we have previously had, we have been double teamed for w/e reason. So for everyone in silver league if you didn’t already know, we can’t compete “at all” when there are 2 50 man zergs attacking us. Not complaint just stating a fact. Just know that our server never asked for Devon to be on our server so if you are trying to make a statement by ignoring the other server in the matchup…. Don’t. He will get the message just fine going through the next 7 weeks with us, if he even comes out at all. GL to all in the league! Here’s to hoping we all get some good fights with each other!
I am pleased to announce we did have a total of ZERO guilds transfer to our server, but I guess when you are at the bottom there is no where to go but up.

Let me talk for a moment about how Borlis Pass went from the very bottom of Tier 6 to our current position as a contender for the top of this Silver League. And this is really to servers at the butt end of the league looking foreword to several weeks on beatings.
A change of mentality. Learning to enjoy WvW for the game, and not the trophy. Let me ask everyone here. How does being in first place change how you play WvW? Is it really any different then when you are in last place? For months, Borlis Pass was the punching bag of tier 5. We lost our fair weathers. Towards the end, several guilds even left because we “sucked” (And ended up becoming punching bags on Maguuma lol).
For those of us who stuck with it though, we built a whole new server from the ground. New tactics, new tools, and more importantly, new guilds. Grown Organically. Rather then pray for transfers or cry tears over past glory we built our server back up from the ground up and used our repeated beatings as learning experiences rather then punishment.
This is why you won’t see BP fair weather or tank a match. Also why we punch above our weight. We have the same population density as IoJ, Darkhaven and NSP and are presently the highest ranked server with a “High” density during its prime time. And it all goes back to rethinking what we like about WvW, and its not winning. Its wrecking face when we can wreck it.

Except for the fact that BP got transfers, a lot of them. Krew returned,DR (who unfortunately left), Lost, MM, DPS, SIC, vT, Hop, AXIS, VP, VOX, BC…should I keep going or are you getting the point. BP may not have asked for the guilds but they came and have had a huge impact.
We hugely outnumber NSP, DH and now IoJ due to their guilds jumping ship. If you think in any way that we aren’t fielding more numbers than those servers you are more ignorant than I thought. Our strength is our numbers. We can respond with a queue on almost any map and we have a constant presence on any borderland. It may not always be a big presence but we have bodies everywhere. We queue maps with groups at all hours of the day (minus SEA, poor guys but we do have Kalkz) and they crush people.
TL;DR
NSP, I’m sorry you are having to go against ridiculous numbers but I your bags will end up full just the same because you are solid players. Anyone who tries to argue that its not a numbers game is an idiot and I wish you the best of luck for the next 7 weeks.

I think I am not as ignorant as you think I am. Are we bigger? yes. We did not get that way by being passive or crying into our milk. lrn 2 read. I believe I said we took our medicine and focused on working to make our server better so it could compete and not tank. Nobody transfers to a tanking server. Ask Anvil Rock, who back in the day could beat us. And we don’t que maps at all hours. The only time our Maps que is when BS and WFD take to the field, or else reset night.
(edited by Aeros.2046)
tl;dr version of Esp’s post. We moved to BP for the community (something that was completely missing from NSP) they worked hard to set up and get it to where it is now. If BP had not put in the time and effort to build it, they would not be where they are now and have attracted who they did.

SBI talking smack about transfers? lol.
I don’t think anyone is delusional about the fact SBI got transfers and that’s why we are where we are. That delusion will always be suited to the likes of Aeros as seen above. Classic lols there.

Was going to say this guy knows his stuff but hes the Asura and not the Human guardian….[SPCA] is carried by that charr mesmer anyways >.>
I’m going to throw out my predictions, as well.
1: Stormbluff Isle
2: Fort Aspenwood
3: Borlis Pass
—
4: Dragonbrand
5: Yak’s Bend
—
6: Crystal Desert
7: Ehmry Bay
8: Isle of Janthir
—
9: Northern Shiverpeaks
I’ve marked where I feel the largest gaps in coverage/sustainability are.
Also, FA, welcome to the Silver League. Looking forward to a rematch with you guys, where we’re not ticking 40~ points combined due to being overwhelmed by a T1 server.
I still think IoJ won’t do too badly, even with those lost guilds. Admittedly I know very little of NSP. Been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the servers below ninth. Looking forward to a match with Yak’s Bend. We’ve stomped them down in the past, but now that we’ve lost some guilds the fight should be more even. Props to them, too, the last time we karma trained they always left our catas up. =D

Why would anyone go to TC for WvW?
We give out a lot of cookies
Why would anyone go to TC for WvW?
Out of curiosity, what server are you from?

I meant no disrespect. I like TC. It’s just that they are T1.5 and I don’t see a few people making a difference. I would think they would need to lose people to drop to a true T2 for the better matches in the future.
Os guild providing free Cookie Tacos to new friends.
SBI talking smack about transfers? lol.
Somebody hold me! Need to bring back the good ole days when Borlis waypointed SBI’s hills every match up and those few people who knew what was up tried and failed to beg the zombie horde in Eternal to come and help them. I think our record for holding a Hills keep in SBI borderlands was about 5 days. So much fun. That keep was a golem graveyard, watered with tears. Can’t wait to try again.
