These match ups are horrible
They made this new system in order to make match ups less stale yet when you can look at one at the start of a week and instantly know no matter how hard any one side fights you can call who will be first, second and third, I’d say that is as stale as you can get.
Secondly everyone who has taken every single tower 1000 times from every conceivable angle know’s how boring PvD is and gaining points is, the only reason people did it and tried so hard was to stay in or raise a tier for their server. That all went out of the window with the RNG element so no one really cares anymore hence the massive raise in small scale GvG/duels in WvW maps which closes out alot of the point of WvW for players that might be new to it.
WvW maps and content haven’t been touched since release only rubbish tweaks and nerfs really and crazy amounts of PvE content. They try to make better sPvP when no one really wants it unless it’s pretty much the opposite of what it is now and ignore anything major for WvW. They seem to have had a set plan for content from realease and rather than listening to players or impact they just solidly stick to the same route. WvW has so much more potential if only they would dedicate more resource to it.

Week after week, one server beats down two servers to the point of no contest…
I mean honestly instead of making living world updates for one month I pray you guys would just take a look at WvWvW. These match ups have been horrible to say the least.
…and the same thing was happening before Anet made the change. Ask Ehmry bay and Borlis Pass how they liked their 10+ week matchup. BP won the first week when EB took a break. EB won every match after that and the beating got worse and worse.
The only difference in the beat downs now is it is usually different servers giving and receiving the beat down…and that changes every week
As has been pointed out in other posts, if the whole idea of keeping a running score is scrapped, people would not get caught up in who is in first, second, or third place.
If the “score” was remained hidden during a match, people MAY begin to concentrate on having fun in W3 rather than becoming discouraged that their server isn’t in 1st place.
I’d be interested in hearing from other people. Is the score really that important to them? Does the score encourage or discourage you from participating in W3 regardless of what position your server is. Or on the other hand, do you ignore the score completely and play because you enjoy W3.
“Did you see that? Tell me you saw that!”
I’m sure the score is a factor for some people. For me it is the loss of waypoints. Looking for a good place to possibly get some fights and it takes a long stroll to try and get there. Also getting spawn camped when your map is completely owned by someone else. That’s when it is frustrating.
I’ve never really been worried about the score – except if it’s a ludicrous difference like 100K points between 1st and 2nd. That tells me that there’s no point participating: If my server’s the one with the 100K advantage, it’s boring. If another server has it, they’ve probably got a stupendous numbers advantage, making it frustrating for me to do anything except roll with a horde (something I dislike doing, due to GW2’s flashy skills causing lag in huge battles, inability to tell what’s actually going on as a result of a combination of the resulting lag, flashy skills obscuring my view and the simple chaos of the situation).
Personally, what I hate about the matchups is that the server I’m on is back against the two servers it was up against for months before the matchup method revamp happened. I actually quit WvW for a while due to said matchup being so absolutely one-sided due to zergs, leading to the above situation of frustration – and it’s still Zerg City, so I’m probably done with it until a match that looks more even comes up, if it ever does.
As for what makes me get discouraged? If I see the Outnumbered ‘buff’ so much as blink on my bar, I turn around and leave. It does nothing to actually help the underdog during a fight against the kind of numbers that cause it to appear at all, just improve the rare victory a bit and remove the monetary sting of the many, inevitable, frustrating deaths to greater numbers. Doesn’t even matter if my team’s trying to hold a fortified position, with any and all siege gear lining the walls, if that apology of a buff pops up – the flesh tide will wear away our fortified beaches, and there’s not a kitten bit of strategy or skill to it, or anything strategy or skill can do against that kind of disadvantage, given the rules of the combat system. What’s the point in playing if you know you can’t win, and not due to lack of skill, even on a personal level?

What do you have against the outmanned buff?
I jump in joy whenever I see the outmanned buff, because that means, I can dive my warrior straight into the next heap of opponents and unleash my earthshaker-combo on them without having to pay the repair fees if my Leeroy Jenkins doesn’t work.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
It’s useless for actually doing anything but suicide runs, is what. If it would actually help in some way (say, a bonus of some kind to stats that don’t only come into play when you manage to chip out a zergling), I might not go “Welp, Outmanned. No point trying this match.” Some parts of it make sense (the no repair costs, for one), but then others (the XP and Magic Find bonus) just seem like a consolation prize made of ‘we have no idea how to approach balancing this situation out.’
WvW is becoming stale and boring! The match-up system is pathetic, The Lag and Skill delay remains prominent and i doubt will EVER be fixed. And NCSoft is pushing gem sales more and more that this game is becoming like a typical Korean cash shop MMO.
Well I am glad that somebody elso noticed changes with gem shop too.
