Yet no matter what the reason, it doesn’t stop you guys from picking on us or saying that we’re making things up…so what’s the point of you guys trying to call us out? There isn’t one.

See it from our perspective. We’ve been preparing for this, for weeks. In guild chat, not a day went by where anbu wasn’t talking about the fight for 2nd and how important it was. Our server held meeting and dedicated significant amounts of time to preparing for you, we wanted to beat you and earn this victory. How is this met? By excuses. It’s black friday. It’s HoD. Dh was ALWAYS bigger and stronger than SF anyways. One SF person that I count, in this entire thread, I think sincerely congratulated us/treated us like we did okay.

I mean, seriously, HoD may favor us, but do you really think it’s just coincidence that tons of them are coming in here and calling SF people out as well?

It feels pretty sucky to put so much effort into a fight, only to have your opponent basically say “you didn’t do good, I’m just not ready for this at the moment cus of black friday”. That’s why you’ll see Dh players calling people out on here.

Eh, I think folks are frustrated and super burnt out on all of this league business. We SFers have definitely seen a dip in population this week, which is further fueling that frustration. The hows and whys for the population dip are likely numerous (seriously, there’s never ever just one reason for a population drop).

At the end of the day, the top 3 should be proud of their performances this Season. We all fought hard and had some great fights. We’ve made some friends and earned some friendemies. Don’t let frustration and league burnout take that away from us. SF was in a pretty rough place at the beginning of 2013 and I for one am pretty kitten pleased that we ended up in the top 3 during this first Season. We may have a long way to go, but we’ve really come a LONG way since January.

You are not the only people who have been preparing for this day, or at least tried to. We tried getting people interested in WvW, we had STAR transfer on over and work with CoSA, held weekly training events so that our group would finally be ready as well as holding raid nights, but when the time comes to actually deliver, I guess you’re as confused and disappointed as we are.

It’s pretty frustrating going from having a force to be reckoned with only to falter at the end of the season, knowing you have a group of individuals who are used to fighting groups much larger than themselves and able to take objectives no matter the size of the opposing force, only to have you guys see the force as it stands now and saying ‘Oh, you should have been there when we were in our prime’. Unfortunately, that’s how SF operates, apparently, the population’s interests shift every day.

What an entertaining thread… when not thumping their chests about how pro they are for beating the 3 worst servers, they’re complaining that black friday killed their chances at 2nd place…

Congrats DH on your 2nd place win (assuming you keep this up, which why wouldn’t you). It was quite apparent what you were after last week; you were a server on a mission. An unrelenting ppt machine, and it looks like its paying off for ya. Don’t let the terribads take away what you all have put into this. I’m sure its been hard fought. Keep up the good work.

The lack of people at reset should have told you everything you needed to know. The SF you are playing right now is not the same server who cared about playing HoD.

Ah AR, the server we should all be taking advice from.

In Darkhaven BL on reset night, there was a ton of SF running around. They took our bay right away and broke through to inner garrison and kept coming back. We had some epic fights at our north camp against a huge ball of SF. Reset night was a lot of fun, there was rarely a moment of rest. I cannot speak for the other maps, but on DH BL, there was no lack of SF.

The DH you faced in weeks 17-21 and week 23 is also not the same DH as we are this week. Though it must seem like we are because we are still in first, just like we were in the old match ups with you and ioj.

Some people (on several servers) want to act like we were some kinda “favorite”, well we never really were. Check our ranks before leagues. Basically we went into it with a “lets just play hard and see what happens”.

So to all the DH that think you have gotten markedly better, well maybe so, but you still have that fairweather pop that we remember from when we faced you months ago (DH/SF/IoJ matches).

To HoD, a few months back we made you quit WvW for a week, you have came back with good coverage on a “High” population server (at times). Good job, MU you are still PPT gazing bads with 2-4 thieves that like to duel.

SF – Go Big or Go Home… It always been like this… Too bad that DH came big for you this time (unlike week 1), so you had to go home. But hey, at least you have 0 chance of losing your second to ET.

DH – The underdog is running it’s show. An all-round coverage is what it take to win WvW… If the SF prime time were spread across the whole timezones they surely would be a much harder opponent… But that’s not the ocasion so DH have it’s well deserved victory.

ET – We’re just here, capping somenthing over there. Trying to defend other over there… This matchup has nothing to do with us anyway unless we can beat SF to 2nd (which I find Highly improbable)

odd, i would have said the opposite. AR have done a incredible job this season – the server everyone wrote off as last (including me) are pushing for 6th place. They have been playing a serious game, packing a solid D, and fought to take second week after week. Clearly some things are going right over on AR.

You were ranked 4th before leagues and were considered the favorite over Dh to take 3rd.

How do you know we have a “fair weather” pop? Got a spy on our server? Hear it from one random person on our server? How do you know?

Anyways, you guys were the favorite for third before leagues. This sentiment is summed up well by solstice, which was created prior to the league. Remember, you placed 2nd against FC, while we placed 3rd, right before leagues. You were, from the get-go, considered the 3rd strongest. The servers that placed higher than expectations are Dh, GoM, and AR primarily. FC performed below expectations. SF and HoD placed exactly as predicted.

If you don’t care fine, but don’t rewrite history by implying that you performed better than expected. You guys were expected to place 3rd, that’s what you’re going to do and we will see to that.

Someone commented earlier about how DH runs away from fights with SF or whatever. But I have had the opposite happen to me. I roam alone a lot in my BL. I have had way more better fights with ET roamers than SF. Almost every SF I see, runs from me. =(

But yeah I have to agree. The [star] zergs even are constantly running when the odds start to even out. They like to wipe disorganized zergs or lower numbered zergs, but if any semi-decent force shows up, they usually get out of there. That said I’m sure Dh does a lot of running itself, I just never see it.

Why do I keep hearing about this legendary 80 man FC zergball of death thing constantly from some people? I’ve never seen 80 FC in the same place in the wvw zone before. :/

While we did beat SF and DH before the leagues started, I think DH was waning at the time due to guild transfers and SF had a really, really, bad match. We didn’t get hit as hard by the bandwagon wars before the league started and carried that momentum into some wins.

We’ve dropped abit no matter why, but I honestly prefer it this way, I enjoy being an underdog and having to fight for every tower a hell of alot more than waiting for somebody to cap something so I can take it back.

I never seen FC have 695 ppt so you would have to wait for people to cap somenthing… Really doesn’t make sense.

When I tag along with Star they tend to not run away from any fights regardless of size. On the contrary it is usually Star chasing or busting into any amount of people and very often have ignored the single targets to reach an objective. But hey I’ll take your word for it, your server has teleporting necros and ours has fleeing star zergs.

I wish I could show you guys a poll that was up two months ago, where most voters thought that SF and FC would take the top. Interestingly enough, HoD and DH weren’t even close in votes. This isn’t an attempt to talk crap, its just interesting.

Anyways poor SF’s player base took a huge morale hit against HoD twice, it’s not surprising to me that DH is benefiting from that disappointment.

Had this match been before SF/HoD’s DH would probably be sitting in third place comfortably.

Great job everyone, yes the leagues were stressful, majorly unbalanced, demoralizing, and intense. But hopefully arena net will take a look at the results of league, and find a solution to better balance the competition.

I agree with maintaining a relationship between PvE and WvWer players. The 1st season has taught a lot of things for all servers. We have been trying to entice PvErs into trying out ‘organized’ WvW with our FARM.

FARM is our bridge to get those PvErs into WvW. We try to combine getting something done while having fun. We learn from our mistakes and we are all trying to come up with ideas on how to get more PvErs into WvW. I don’t really want to put a blame on anything with the current scores right now but SF itself. Most of our core wvw people are probably burnt out this past 6 weeks in leagues. I have to admit that some of them are easy. I THINK that most of our players enjoyed the easy week, then boom comes HOD. 2 weeks with them took a toll on a lot of us. We were feeling confident about what will happen in week 7, but holy kitten. DH changed a lot.
Anyways! I dont know what I am trying to say here, I am sleepy lol. But yeah, lol.

Bah! Its only Monday/Tuesday, lets see if SF can catch up. LIke what I always say before a big fight. We got this.

Wouldn’t be so sure, tbh. Their pre HoD coverage still sucked, our coverage is probably the best in the league (along with HoD of course). I think, if SF has taken a huge population hit as you suggest, it would be closer, though I wouldn’t write Dh out.

Thanks for proving my point, because no one would consider “your two guilds” fairweathers….So you do INDEED have plenty of bandwagoning fairweathers, no worries every server does, some just have more than others. (we have a lot too)

I just want to be clear about something as well, I (myself) am not making excuses for SF. We are losing fair and square and DH is winning on their own accord.

Many people that know me, know I only care about the fights and could care less about PPT/“winning”.

I just don’t want people to think that I am sour somehow about SF “losing”, what I am irritated about is fairweathers/PVE’ers that come and go with each match depending on the level of difficulty we face.

One week I have to sit in queue here and there to get into certain maps, then the next week we couldn’t queue 1-map if we had to outside of reset.

Gornok, I think he forgot that we shutout every GvG we had when we were up against SF. However, I do distinctly remember him never being in a single one because he doesn’t have 14 friends. It must be easy to confuse when you’re not a part of any of them.

Gornok, I think he forgot that we shutout every GvG we had when we were up against SF. However, I do distinctly remember him never being in a single one because he doesn’t have 14 friends. It must be easy to confuse when you’re not a part of any of them.

Beating CoSA and StAR in their first GvGs (star might have had a couple before, idk), is not really anything to brag about, but even if it was I wouldn’t care as I do not run in 15-25 man groups very much anymore.

I may not have 14 friends lol, but I killed more than 14 MU “supportlings” desperately trying to get back to your zerg.

We don’t run more than 5, think the most we have had was 8, so sorry we won’t: might stack, veil, boonrip, cc, hammertrain with you guys….

I THINK that most of our players enjoyed the easy week, then boom comes HOD. 2 weeks with them took a toll on a lot of us. We were feeling confident about what will happen in week 7, but holy kitten. DH changed a lot.

WvW is about population and coverage. But I think the thing that people tend to forget about is that WvW is also about momentum. The ebbs and flows of said population/coverage.

We SFers had some good population momentum the first three weeks, then took a huge hit to our momentum during those 2 straight weeks against HoD. There were only two servers who were unlucky enough to face off against HoD two weeks back-to-back, SF and FC (Those poor FC folks were even unluckier than us in League scheduling. Now, I’m not complaining about being matched against HoD (those were some great fights, the server has some friendly folks, and they’re our community website bros). But if you’re talking cause and effect from a population momentum standpoint, I personally think the League scheduling had an impact. Once we wrapped up those tough back-to-back match-ups, we had only one week to regain population momentum for this particular match-up. And with a holiday, kids prepping for finals, and end-of-season burnout, it’s certainly tough week to rebuild that lost momentum (yes, all servers deal with those issues, but my point is that once you’ve lost momentum, those issues compound the problem and makes it difficult to recoup). It appears we just didn’t regain nearly as much momentum in Week 6 as we originally thought. It’s a shame, but it happens. Still, this Season has really shown how far SF has come since the beginning of the year (and has given us insight on how far we have left to go).

DH certainly benefited from a bit more favorable League schedule. There were three servers who were lucky with the league scheduling and only had to face off against the league heavy-hitter (HoD) once, and DH was one of those servers. Had DH faced HoD twice this Season like most other servers in the League, we’d likely be sharing that 2nd place position. Also, that particular DH/HoD match-up was relatively early in the season. DH had three solid weeks of wins since that tough match-up to rebuild their population momentum. And what momentum! You guys are a totally different server than the one we faced in Week 1. You guys should be totally proud of how much you’ve changed over the season and hope you’re able to maintain it into the next season. I look forward to a rematch when we have a bit more momentum behind us, and hope this is the DH we get to face when we’ve regained that momentum.

All in all, it’s been a great Season and good jobs all around. But I for one am suffering from some WvW burnout myself and am totally looking forward to the Season coming to a close.

Because of work I play during different hours and right now it has become no fun during early morning (est) right now we have no commanders and are outnumbered on all maps except SF bl. We had more people against HoD the first week but I think it took its toll. I spoke to one of the oceanic commanders yesterday and he and a few others are leaving after the season so there goes what little coverage we had. The rest of this week when the morning is the only time I have to play will be spent doing my daily then logging out because its not fun to get run over by a zerg that gets whipped into a frenzy if anything happens.

If they’re leaving after the season…they could always poke themselves over to DH ^^
But, I love facing you guys when you have numbers— so please keep fighting hard this week!

To Manoa, I know FC has had a similar situation to you guys with HoD matchups, but as everyone is talking about FC for running a 52 omega zerg and papering a whole borderland right now, I dunno they’re taking it lying down so that might be an unfair comparison. That being said, please don’t do a 52 omega zerg against us, I like my upgraded border

After all these weeks SF trolled itself into a corner haha! The smack talk was good up until their coverage gap became their go to excuse. AR didn’t lose Garrison for 3 weeks, we played ET twice and never lost it to them. DH even had a hard time taking keeps from us. AR didn’t lose our entire ptt to the Brahzilians, yea we lost eternal but we kept them out of our bl. We have started doing a server “night cap” to help our skeleton crew and made it known to our server when we are weakest. Now we are 600 points ahead of GoM. If they lose to us they will place under FC. It’s called playing for something. AR plays for improvement. Just like DH is playing to beat you. I know it isn’t about ptt but ptt is what makes a community stronger. A nasty little trick Anet did but it is worth it.

There are trolls but trying to recruit our players when we played was just bad form.

I think you get me wrong with my mention FC. I never meant to insinuate they were taking it laying down. We SFers have a long history with FC and I know they’re a server who has always been fighting against the odds and are super feisty. They did a really good job this season playing for first when they could and playing hard for second if they had no chance at first. They’re a totally different server since our T8 days too and they really should be proud of their performance (especially given their crummy luck with the schedule). I only mentioned them earlier to point out the fact that there was one server who had slightly worse luck than SF with the scheduling, and they’ve been doing really well considering those odds (again, good job lil’ bro!).

And you shouldn’t have mentioned that FC 52 omega blitz in this thread. I know Banjo is reading.

@Mugo FYI I have not smack talked anyone. The coverage gap is real but is not the reason SF is in the situation. Our servers problem is alot of people don’t care and alot of in-fighting. I was just stating what I’m gonna do because I play for fun and getting hit by a zerg when I leave spawn is not fun I even play less on easy SF weeks because both feel like I’m not really even playing the game.

Gornok, I think he forgot that we shutout every GvG we had when we were up against SF. However, I do distinctly remember him never being in a single one because he doesn’t have 14 friends. It must be easy to confuse when you’re not a part of any of them.

Beating CoSA and StAR in their first GvGs (star might have had a couple before, idk), is not really anything to brag about, but even if it was I wouldn’t care as I do not run in 15-25 man groups very much anymore.

I may not have 14 friends lol, but I killed more than 14 MU “supportlings” desperately trying to get back to your zerg.

and have absolutely nothing to back it up. Nobody from HoD noticed your “contributions” to SF when HoD faced you. Go back and read the matchups forum thread. Did anybody even address you outside of your forum posts? Doubt it. Congratulations for killing the stragglers 1 vs. 5-8 (according to you). The only groups that were noticed doing anything for SF was CoSA and Star. Apparently, they are still the groups contributing to their server as they are the ones DH is saying they notice. Furthermore, I have respect for them because they show up and get things done. Even if we 3-0’ed both. You on the other hand are all bark and no bite. I would make an exception and fight you 8v8 because you cant field 15, but from now on unless you are asking to fight us so that you can backup all of your barking with a little bite I will be disregarding all posts.

Its a clip from a documentary. A wild raccoon had repeatedly pestered monkeys in an exhibit at a zoo stealing their food etc. The monkey at this point has had enough and tossed the raccoon and then immediately walks off disregarding the raccoon. A sentiment that closely reflects how I feel towards that user. I can PM the source if you like. The problem with this guy is that he does this every week… He (and his group of 4) contribute nothing of consequence to his server. Then he comes to the forums and talks crap about guilds that rolled his face because his group of 5-8 killed a straggler from a good guild group that was destroying his server.
