Last night I tried to run Sanctum of Rall’s community guild missions event which runs every Thu @ 6PM and Sat @ 11PM PDT (Server Time). I was hopeful about the mega server after it stated that people are prioritized on Mega Servers.

1. Friends
2. Guilds Paired Together
3. Servers
4. Mixed from other servers.

This concept on paper looked like if we group up first in a common ground (WvW) we could get everyone into SORC (Sanctum of Rall Community Events) Then head back to the PvE area to complete the guild missions. Usually these runs are an hour for all 4 mission types that yield rewards.

Last night however was a disaster. The above diagram doesn’t work at all. We had people who were repping SORC in 6 different versions of snowden drifts. The timberline falls challenge we spent 30 minutes just taxing people to the right instance only to find another guild kicked it off while we were trying to get organized. For the Bounty there was 4 other guilds there trying to dogpile him and the creature died before most of us could even get there.

At the end of the day we spent an hour and 45 minutes on the run and couldn’t even complete the puzzle due to the bug where the torches didn’t light. This megaserver has turned running missions to near impossible. Guilds are fighting over who goes first and it’s next to impossible to get everyone on the same version of the map. The prioritizing doesn’t work at all and the whole thing is quickly becoming more trouble than it’s worth.

This was my fear in the beginning when I posted about this patch. Things like the Great Tyrian Adventure (http://sanctumofrall.com/gta) will now be utter chaos and pretty close to impossible to run smoothly.

Please fix the system to get guilded folks together. Or at least give us the ability to select what version of the world we can join like Guild Wars 1. Coordinating larger numbers in PvE is now almost impossible.

Our guild’s first missions since the patch are tomorrow. Thanks for the head’s up on this. We have not really considered the possibility but it sounds like a nightmare.

This bullkitten is unbelievable. We tried to do them on anvil rock but only able to do the puzzle, rest had other guilds doing it, unreal how this was not thought of before unleashing this piece of kitten patch. My guild stays together just to do guild missions and now we cant even do that. Good luck to all GM runners, hopefully you can do more than 1 of 4.

I made my own thread for this in the General Discussion before I saw this thread, so I’m going to post it here too.

Tonight I was trying to lead my guild and do guild missions and with this new Megaserver thing it made it kitten near impossible to do the guild bounty.
The problems we ran into were:
1. The fact that the guild was scattered across different map flows so we had to taxi everyone in to our map which, with a big guild like ours, takes up a bit of time. So having a minute left to get everyone to the bounty person is irritating.
2. We had an issue where when we got on the map for the bounty there would be another guild already killing the bounty, that combined with the need to taxi 3/4 of the guild to the map made it really frustrating.
We went through 2 bounties that we didn’t get to participate in causing me to activate another Tier 3 bounty, as they say the third time was the charm and we finally got to do one. However I shouldn’t have to go through the activation of 2 Tier 3 Bounties to get ONE done, this was never an issue before now.
I mean if Megaserver is supposed to be doing what Anet is saying it’s doing then it should be no problem that, at the very least, my guild would be all together.
And while i’m fine with trying to communicate with whatever guild might be currently stalking the same bounty we also happened to go after, it’s one thing where I am able to accomplish that and then the two guilds do the bounty together (We do that on GoM all the time before this Megafailserver thing happened) but 9 times out of 10 thats not going to be the case. It’s a little to late to say “Hey can you hold DPS so my guild has time to get over there?” When the bounty is at 10%.

Having run our first missions since the patch…yup…I hope that Anet does some tweaking. I think the metaservers are great for open world events and map clearing…I really enjoy seeing all the people out there. Our guild missions, however, were almost funny with all of the different guilds trying to do theirs at the same place and the same time…especially the puzzle where timing is important.

I am cautiously confident that they will make some changes to alleviate this (fingers crossed).

gm’s are such a mess right now, we always did them in less than an hour and now it took us 2 hours, well around 1h 50 mins but that’s 2hours to me…which is twice as long as before…which is really not cool

Missions were difficult for us as well last night. Attached is a screenshot of the status of the guild challenge in Blazeridge, where we encountered two other guilds waiting to do the challenge. One guild finished, and the next guild started their event but immediately waypointed out, perhaps because they completed with the other guild. However, my guild could not pick up the necessary equipment (the guns) to complete the mission and get credit, so we had to do something else for the 18 minute timer. We are pretty used to our missions being a well-oiled machine, so this disruption was disappointing for us. I hope ANet can figure out a way to make this work for everyone.

We did just fine until rush came up (which I think is the only map that has megaserver enabled). Unless we partied up and brought people into the map, nothing else worked. I imagine this becoming a big problem when its enabled on all maps or if more missions are added. Today was just an inconvenience but it seems it could be much worse with cross-server guilds.

Just as a note: We have a 490 person guild with two mission sessions a week. We usually pull 4-6 parties/groups for each session. This first session we had maybe 5-6 people not make it into the same map as everyone else.

Tonight my guild tried to do missions and with every mission type we had to taxi guild members to the right map. I don’t mind doing it for 1 mission, but doing it for 4 is just insane especially since you are on a timer (it’s bad with bounty, other missions are okay but still annoying).

With the puzzle we actually had to wait in line because 3 other guilds were before us, in the end we decided to accompany the guild before us which turned into a big mess (>75 people running over ledges and stuff), most people did manage to finish the puzzle but we didn’t enjoy it at all.

Challenge.. we got the challenge in Blazeridge (destroying the crystals), when we got there again 3 other guilds were already waiting. And this time megaserver decided to work flawlessly: leaving party and/or guild, the game refused to put any member on a different map, we were stuck in the queue for the challenge.
We figured no big deal, we had world event available so we decided to do Karka Queen. When we got back to challenge a guild was already doing it but no other guilds waiting. So we just waited till they finished, then when we were about to activate it some guy from a different guild runs towards the challenge marker, activates it and then just runs off. Forcing us to wait 20 minutes (again!) before we can start it ourselves. And the guy(‘s guild) didn’t even do the challenge, he just ran off. And as Solitary pointed out, you cannot pick up the weapons unless you are part of the guild who activated the mission.

Is this really how megaservers are supposed to work; dumping people on different maps when doing missions. It would be nice if the game would check if any guild mission is active and then make 100% sure to place guildies on the same map.
We used to be able to finish missions in 1.5 hours, but now with all the waiting and taxing it took us almost twice as long.

Also we are trying round 2 of our missions tonight since it was Crash Wars 2 last night, getting my guild to the Rush was a nightmare.

Same with my guild, originally in GOM server. Taxi most of the guild ( 50 to 80 ppl) for every missions. If it told you which server you are in it would help some. In Frostgorge Sound doing Quaggan rush every member had crash after crashes. Only 4 managed to make it through. We restarted and did the wolves, had to be at least 5 others guilds doing it at the same time. If its suppose to keep the guilds/original servers together its not working at all. Not to mention the additional WP fees cause the one you want to go too appears contested till you get to the area. What’s with that anyway? Free repair = more WP cost?
