Like, they exist only in story dungeons (which was long time ago from current living world) and books (which was even earlier) but now they completely retired, too soon if you asks me.

Yee, Logan was participate Queens Jubilee a little (Lord Faren had bigger role), Caithe was in TA new path. But all of this.. it’s like nothing, like cameo.

Rox and Braham not even close match to Eir and Rytlock, they’re out of league, they’re annoying and boring.

What DE doing just right now?

Perhaps it would have been a good idea to leave the LS characters “workable” and not tied up in any future plans.

I don’t know if that’s even possible at this point, I’m not sure what they’re working on or planning.

I know that it might be confusing to a new player if one of them did something (or even died, onoes) in the LS while they were doing something totally different in the PS but I don’t think it’s too much for new players to understand that the PS is “history” at this point – I mean, I played and enjoyed Dragon Bash when I didn’t have a lv 80 yet and it didn’t take anything away from me or confuse me overmuch.

DE has been taking a backseat since Rox and whats-his-face showed up.

Logan is just a bodyguard now, Rytlock is doing paperwork in his office, Caithe is failing to be effective, Eir is standing in a loft looking great for an old lady, I haven’t seen Zojja in forever, and Snaff is still thoroughly dead.

I believe DE was founded for the dragon initiative. I don’t think they’re getting paid to fight the toxic beanstalk.

While other people want to kill off Trahearne, I want to kill off all the male members of DE who are nothing but a bunch of useless cry babies.\

Except for Caithe I care nothing for DE and wish they have never been created as they really serve no purpose.

Do we really need them back? Ever since the loss of Snaff and Glint, have they really done anything significant? (Dungeons don’t count, we did all that!)

Logan’s stuck being an ineffective Seraph captain.

Rytlock’s still busy…doing something in his office. I guess.

Eir’s busy trying to forever carve a statue, lamenting on how she’s done nothing worthwhile lately, and wondering why the Living Story writers decided to drop a son on her out of nowhere. (Did I mention Braham being Eir’s son was a stupid idea?)

Zojja’s nowhere to be found, unless you’re playing as an asura character early into their personal story. Likely she decided to have none of this Invasive Weed nonsense and is taking a vacation on the Tarnished Coast until that’s over with.

Caithe’s still being ineffective, sadly. She’s the only one left that doesn’t have something I dislike about her….although that “secret” Ms. Invasive Weed was rambling about might try to change that. Thankfully the writers completely forgot about it…for now.

Anet have stated that because if timeline issues they decided to create new characters. Since people are in different places in their personal story there are possible inconsistencies that could happen. They also stated they are working to bring the two timelines together

Sadly, the Living Story is trapped in a weird limbo in terms of its timeline. It would be hard to write the members of Destiny’s Edge into one solid update due to the fact that the dynamics within the group are vastly different before and after the Dungeon Story-line ended. Think back to Queen’s Jubilee, the way Rox posed Rytlock’s reasoning for not going made it seem as though he Logan’s relationship required more work than was thought when looked at during the victory celebration in Fort Trinity. Including Logan’s response to having to fight Rytlock!Watchnight, and you can see the dynamic between the two characters is a bit fuzzy.

Ultimately though, the real issue is in the availability of the voice actors. The actors that play Logan, Eir, Rytlock, and Caithe seem to be easy to get, but Zojja? It’s pretty clear that Felicia Dey isn’t going to be easy to get a hold of on the off chance that they’ll need her again, at least not for anything short of an expansion. At least from little I’ve seen of her. I’m not that big of a fan to follow her every move.

This too. Even the others might be hard to get since they do voicework for a lot of things already.

Rox was sent to the Tequatl site by Rytlock, remember. He’s still watching the world from a distance, it would seem. The fact that he notably didn’t attend the Queen’s Jubilee was also strange. Just another mysterious seed set by ArenaNet that may develop into future story.

Destiny Edge should return maybe not all at once but something should change maybe a bit more involvement.

What have Destiny’s Edge, as a group, EVER done of value since the start of GW2?

Nothing.

They nearly get themselves killed in the dungeons, and you go save their kitten and complete whatever goal they had.

Logan nearly dies to cut one kittening rope. Thanks man, it’s not like the airship was loaded with people with large quantities of swords, axes, arrows, magic… just about anything that could be used to cut a rope from the ship… Real important “sacrifice” there.

And then they’re all reunited at the end! Where they sit in the airship like manikins and do kittening nothing at all!

So what have they accomplished in GW2? Whining like 12 year old girls, kittening, whinging, and being generally useless.

So why in the world would we want them back….?

The basic reason for bringing new characters into the living story is that they can do all sorts of things to them, such as kill them off or turn them into villains. They can’t kill off a Destiny’s Edge character, or even someone like Queen Jennah, since they are shown alive in the personal story and story dungeons. My bet is that Marjory or Kasmeer will bite the bullet before too long, probably Marjory.

This, basically. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to notice how silly Logan having to stay behind was. “Can’t we just shoot the rope instead?” Plus, it’s pointless since he’s back seemingly unscathed on the second airship we board.

I agree whole heartedly. In fact, all the characters of Destiny’s Edge, except maybe Rytlock, are absolutely terrible. I want them all to die. But I don’t want them to heroically sacrifice themselves, because I just know they’ll only pop up alive and well later on, and pull a random airship out of their pockets. No I’d rather just have them be forgotten. These shallow nobodies with their awful written soap drama, who keep being pushed forward as if they are more important than the player… I just want them to leave. I didn’t read the books, and I can’t be bothered to (if I want good fantasy, I’ll just read the latest book of a Song of Ice and Fire).

I think my main problem with them, is that I can’t describe them as characters. Apart from their looks, their race, and their class, there just doesn’t seem anything about them to define them as characters. Take Logan for example… what is his character? He complains a lot, he runs away from battles, he loves Jennah, he’s a good guy….. and that’s about it. Rytlock is mostly just angry, grumpy and/or sarcastic. Eir is just always in the middle, saying wise words, and putting people to sleep, without having much of a personality. Caith is the prototypical floaty Sylvari stereotype, and she is everything I find dull about Sylvari in general. Zoija has a stupid name, and an annoying voice. Where as plenty of other Asura in GW1 were entertaining, even if they were being annoying, in GW2 a lot of them just test my patience as a player. And Zoija is the perfect example of that. The only one I can stand is Rytlock, but he doesn’t have much personality either. He’s just as angry, and I can relate to that, because Destiny’s Edge makes me angry too.
