Ok who else besides me actually enjoyed this boss? I loved how this fight when in stages as he evolved and the way he regularly changed the battle field so you had to spend time clearing out the area of the spores, or just ignore them.
The minions didn’t fell to over bearing but at the same time didn’t feel worthless.
over all I give this boss a thumbs up anet.

If I had to fault anything it would be he should of had a 3rd stage to his evolution.
the first change being at 70% the next being at 30%. The first would of been his larva form (or jabba the hut as some are calling it) then added some in between form were he was still learning how to fight. (see below for my idea)
make the last one when he stops spawning adds and its just a straight out battle to the death between you and him in his adult stage.

Anet really could of had some fun with that digging trick as well, I would have make the 2nd stage fight one were he would pick a target at random and lung out of the floor and or walls for a mid power aoe blast wave and start digging again (give players 3-4 seconds to burn him) and every time he hit the ground would cause part of the ceiling to fall (more aoe damage) and create a block of some kind which could be used to stun him if he rammed into it for an extra few seconds and cancel out his attack.

I didn’t even bother trying to clear them. The spores seem to serve 2 purposes.
1. A wide range AoE conditon.
2. Space limiter- They seem to go 2 ways. 1 makes a large ring in the center so your forced to fight on the outer edge to keep out and the other type leaves an area in the center so you have less room to avoid the boss without going into the field.

In portal room that would be a pain. In the boss fight however, only the central stalk needs to be killed. Those on the sides of the room respawn almost immediately anyway.

Oh? I was pretty sure he already had 4 stages (every 25% HPs)? The visible differences from second stage up are not that big (if there are any), but there are changes in the way he fights.

In general, the fight was actually good. It seems that Anet this time avoided their previous tendency to overcomplicate things and pile up annoying mechanics onto annoying mechanics (like in the twilight assault final fight), and just decided to make the boss fun. They succeeded.
They succeeded also with scaling – the instance semed to me to retain the same difficulty both solo and in a group with my guildies.

In general – good job there. Keep it up

I was actually kinda disappointed by him, his signature move was “evolves rapidly”, but he wasnt a challenge at all. Especially in a 5 man group, you would think “evolves rapidly” would imply that he would develop some sort of defenses against your specific classes attacks, but that just didnt happen. He changed the way he looked, he did some different things that werent very threatening at all, and we beat his kitten consistently 5 times without ever losing a single person. lol

in LOTRO, bosses and elite mobs have adaptive mechanism where they cannot be CCed using the same type of CC within a specified period….

i would love to see this implemented in GW2, that would make boss fight more challenging…

I liked him as a boss solo, but in a group even with the increased HP I just feel the mechanics are quite simple. I will admit he didn’t nothing substantial or outstanding though in terms of a boss fight. Was still interesting at least the first two times.

But really only thing I quite disliked is that he just generally hit for nothing. Even though he was easily kitable/snared. I think if you are going to allow cc on him then let him at least have some threatening damage. That may just be a side effect of it being made applicable for everyone though.

I’ll have to watch for that next time I go in. I expected all his transformations to be very obvious but I could of been mistaken.

I don’t even pay attention to what stage he’s in. Just avoid the toxic area’s and spam 1-5.

If this boss was supposed to be hard then they failed pretty much. Hell, even clocktower of last year was harder to figure out how to beat.

I slew the boss solo and didn’t get the achievement for no party members dying… which was odd, obviously… but otherwise it was a fun boss!

I think it requires you to have a team mate. look up dulfy, they got pretty good guides for achievements

The first time you kill the boss counts as an “unlock” of sorts for some of the achievements only. You have to actually kill him 4 times total to complete it but survive through 1 whole dungeon fight to get the mini. Hope this helps…..GAME ON
