so I spent the first day like most of you, face planting into the ground on the 3rd level but over time I figured out some ways up so I thought I share them for people who still have trouble.

1. Bring a partner or 2= if your the only one getting all the mobs attention, expect to be the 1 getting all the stuns, knockdowns.
2. Don’t rush= with the exception of large zerg groups, if you and your friends just take it 1 step at a time and kill mobs as you go you’ll learn there aren’t actually as many vet, elites as you would expect and even then are still avoidable if you take the right routes.
3. Revive people= This kind of goes along with number 2. as you and your friends slowly work your way through by reviving others you slowly build up your battle force and before long poof your your own zerg.

Slow and easy always wins the race. It is still very possible to get up alone but why would you wanna risk failing every time you fumble or have a spot of bad luck.

I just though of another idea if people have trouble. take note of what nightmare chambers are active on the map. You can flee into them to escape the trail of mobs behind you. although likely condeem a player or 2 to death in the process who are standing outside.

Use cleanse skills. Get rid of conditions.
Use break stuns. Bing feared into spores or knocked with mobs on you is a death sentence.
Use regen food.
Use vigor.
Don’t rush, fight. Turning around the corner to find yourself immobilized so the 3 guys you left behind can catch up and kill you is your own fault. This is the main mistake of glass cannon players… if you are built to kill, then kill. There are way to many mobs with many control skills.

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

Run through as thief solo and skillfully.

It’s quite fun and requires less caution when people do dumb things around you.

As a thief, I pretty much stealth my way through and hide at corners, especially the maze near the end of stage, until mobs walk away. It’s like playing MGS1, you need to be patient, a lot.

If I ever actually find people willing to kill things on Floor 3 it’ll be great. I’m sure it would be infinitely less frustrating killing groups of 3-5 enemies at a time as opposed to trying to dash past and getting caught by mines and endless waves of CC / enemies with reduced speed and no out-of-combat healing in between (since you never drop out of combat, thanks spore debuff), then respawning and trying again hoping to get lucky.

But as it is, I have yet to find a single group actually FIGHTING. Even larger groups of players are just running, running, running, and by the time they reach the top half the zerg has died off. Can’t revive anyone when you’re running because the mobs will catch you and kill you, so its completely every man for himself, fall behind and you die. But I guess good for the people who actually make it. And for the people who don’t, you get rewarded with a 7s fee to get back and try again, probably ending up as fodder for the next group of players you help reach the top with your corpse.

Maybe its an overflow thing. But sadly the chances of me getting into non-overflow are nill to none, TC being what it is.

Dunno about the fight suggestion. If you happen to be somewhere behind a zerg, taking down one mob just clear the spawn point for another. End result is that you will be attrition-ed down the moment an elite spawns on your behind (in particular those hypnoss and their ogre summons).

And these are mine:

First Floor:
Downed – Standard assist to revive. (i.e. light to moderate threat to the assisting player; common sense).
Dead – Standard revive if combat is being managed or after combat.

Second Floor:
Downed – Assist if nearby and not in immediate danger.
Dead – Revive after combat.

Third Floor:
Downed – Revive if downed in a “safe area.” Party members priority. Use crowd control or stealth if available. All others are expendable.
Dead – “Better luck next time, buddy!”

My group and I don’t waste time on the Third Floor, where its extremely hazardous to stand your ground. We push toward each antitoxin sprayer, fight off whatever managed to follow us, then press on.

If you’re the type of person who insists on killing everything on that floor coughWarriorscough, then by all means stick around. If the fumes don’t get you, the ever increasing veteran spawns will.

The air purifiers remove the debuff and put you out of combat. They’re sprinked throughout the floor, just an FYI

If there’s a Zerg just run straight for it, because if you get left behind you’ll get killed by all the respawns and any mobs that are rubber banding back.

I’ve done the whole tower solo on 2 characters, a D/D elementalist and a guardian. I used tons of conditions removals, regenerations and stunbreakers as well as equipping weapons with energy sigils. Always remember to dodge each batch of enemies even if they aren’t attacking you yet.

That “tip” has gotten me killed more times than anything in the tower, I’m a fairly nice guy, and have stopped to revive the lone person only to get ganged up and died along with them, and this is on fairly tanky guardian. Sometimes i’m able to revive the person only to go down myself and be left behind while the guy I revived runs off without even a ty.

I still try to revive, but if i don’t think it’s worth it, i’m leaving. And if your dead,..Ha port back kitten.

Keeping in mind I’m able to run through most of tower my self (unless there’s boss or certain events), and i do go down sometimes. I have gotten the mix of people who revive me , keep running, and die trying to revive. At this point i don’t really care what option they pick.

If you have level 3 travel golem unlocked, and want that chamber survival done, start overflow skitten. By this i mean entering and existing the tower over and over until you either get the L3 chamber, or the first L1 chamber (next to minefield). Repeat until done.

Done it on my Necro, Ele, Mesmer, Warrior and Guardian. I don’t know what you’re talking about. On my Server nobody and I really mean nobody is in that tower anymore. I’m surprised the npc’s are still there The Tower scales the enemies in there as many people have already mentioned and it’s not a problem to solo it with a Necromancer, IF traited and geared correctly. I wouldn’t recommend doing it on a Zerk necro or at least not level 3, but otherwise it’s no problem at all. You don’t have to be a thief either just figure out how to play your class and use your utilities as well as the correct food etc. People gotta stop complaining it’s getting ridiculous.

This is a fair point. Unfortunately this isn’t a tip that’s really cut and dry. Sometimes it’s doable to res someone you come across and sometimes it isn’t. Play it by ear – nobody gains anything if you both wind up dead.

A quick tip… if you’re going in and a party/zerg runs by and you want to tag along but for some reason don’t want to party (in my case I usually don’t because I don’t know if I’ll have to leave to get water to the baby or help him go to the bathroom while his mother is getting him to sleep), target someone in the group and hit ctrl+t, this will put the a big red target reticle on top of that player that will help you follow it.

It’s probably something too evident to lots, specially those that are used to semi-organized dungeon runs, but just something I found useful while on the tower..

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

I’m pretty confident no one has solo’d the tower yet. Even if you ran through it, a party ahead of you opened the passages for you.

For fighting everything, yes, I am a Warrior with a pin and we killed all the things repeatedly. Because we were clearing the way for our server mates to run through it.

Every class has tools to get through the garbage. Stability, stun breaks, hard CC (preferibly in AoE), condition cleansing, dodges/evades/blocks, Stealth, movement skills… Whatever your class, you have something from that list. Use it.

Oh yeah, and dodge the godkitten flowers… I’m always surprised how many lemmings play this game. I swear…

Honestly, the biggest factor of my deaths in that tower has been trying to help other people. If I just run through it’s not much of an issue.

You left out the most life saving advice there is…. USE THE AIR FILTERS they will allow you to get out of combat and actually regen up to full health, this makes it significantly easier than trying to claw your way up constantly in combat.

Also, if you lack a good condi cleanse bring that new heal, it can save you, that was advice from my warrior and thief friend, I play a ranger and healing spring works fine.

I actually had a much easier time with my necro then my other toons. The biggest battle on floor three is the attrition of the poison, and with my necros monsterous health pool that was much easier to manage. Plague lasts for 20 seconds, which will get you most of the way to each of the air filtration tanks. Just spam the blind and walk on through. That plus three stun breaks slotted should be enough for the run.

As a necro I can do floor 1 and 2 solo pretty easily. For floor 3 you need a group though. And my necro does a dang fine job as a commander, providing support for allies, and doing decent damage as well. If you’re having trouble as a necro, maybe you should invest more points in vitality or toughness.

Does anyone not bother to analyze what is killing them and counter it?

I easily run through the entire tower on my elementalist (which honestly I feel is probably the best for this). Stop sticking to a single build, and expand.

It is a simple as bringing stability and condition cleansing.

Although again, this is an MMO, not a single player game. the aimed demographic for this game is people who want to play with a Massive amount of people. Not for people who want to solo content. That’s the truth, and it’s a hard truth for many people apparently.

But again. this is easily soloable if you bring stability and condition cleansing. Swiftness would be a plus. I know for a fact Necro’s have all of this at their disposal.

What I do not feel was accurately done with this content, is the respawn time for the mobs. The amount of time it takes to kill an enemy compared to the amount of time required to kill it, is a a bit off balance.

What I saw during this content which was not seen to this degree in other Living story content, is the amount of guild play I see. I see this content bringing an organizational aptitude requirement to PvE. It is not simply run full zerker and DPS everything and hope you don’t die. The content requires more planning, more team oriented builds, and more solidified roles.

i want to try solo this tower but it’s pretty much impossible on Tarnished Coast. there’s people running around everywhere.

maybe they should instance it somehow for people who want to try soloing it.

and if you successfully solo the whole thing, you get a title like “Nightmare Vanquisher” or something cool.
