Clockwork knight tonic was a step in the right direction, why the step backwards?

My guess is with the krait form it was just impossible to allow people to use weapons (because of animations, etc). The clockwork knight had a totally humanoid form, so they could just reuse the animations. As a krait, with no legs, a different animation for moving, etc they most likely would’ve had to redo it all.

The krait have battle animations for just about every situation though (except getting downed, but you can just make the player revert to normal form upon getting downed); I agree that it does seem like an oversight.

While they might have animations for basic battle stuff, things like mesmers, ele’s and other casters might be an issue since they have a lot of different animations. Plus they’d have to make sure the tonic’ed creature didn’t clip with any weapons, etc… It woulda been AMAZING if it was a combat tonic, but I can at least understand why it isn’t. At least this one isn’t limited to 5 minutes of tonic and 30 minutes of Cooldown…

No way for the Krait tonic to be combat-capable without a decent amount of extra work. They have a decent number of animations, but they don’t have an animation for every attack / weapon a player could possibly use. For instance, what existing animations would you suggest for a Hammer or Greatsword? Or Rifle / Pistol? The Krait have no animations that would translate to those sorts of weapons. Not to mention that even with the weapons they do have, there wouldn’t be enough variety. They may have a couple Dagger attacks, but that doesn’t cover the half a dozen (at least, probably a lot more than that) different Dagger animations if you account for every attack for every profession that can use the weapon.

That’s not to say that they couldn’t have created some more animations and made it work, but it would have been quite a lot of extra work, and I’m sure they’d rather put that effort to better use on something like new weapon sets or new skills as opposed to creating a bunch of stuff for a tonic form that quite frankly very few people will ever use (I’ve seen maybe 3 people using the Clockwork Tonic since Jubilee).

Woo hoo!!

I remember back in launch pre costume brawl, there was a krait tonic which could be used underwater.

After costume brawl however, the tonic would force you out of krait form.

So glad it works underwater!
