I completed this achievement and it did not count towards The Nightmare is Over meta even though Nightmare Terminator did. Is this intended?

Same thing for me. I wrecked it the first time I did it by leaving the wrong way so I was thinking that was my problem but maybe not now.

Are you sure you solved all the puzzles non-violently? I ask because a lot of people on map chat were saying the same thing but had missed one – usually the clockwork one it seemed.

Yep, you’re on the money. I was doing the same thing over and over again thinking it was correct. Watchknights, still causing trouble!

Ok so the FIRST option for the watchknight is the CORRECT solution. The second solution is the combat solution and the third solution, I guess, is neither (the robot just blows up). I had previously thought that the third one was the correct option for “solving” the puzzle (since you didn’t have to fight the robot) but my friend just told me that’s wrong.

So, I guess the problem here is the achievement isn’t really clear on WHAT OPTIONS are combat and which are solving the puzzle.

Which I’m guessing 90% of the people experiencing this “bug” are experiencig — they’re simply using the wrong options to complete the puzzles without any indication that they are wrong.

Yeah I tried this achievement 3 times before getting frustrated and searching the internet to discover that the 3rd option on the robot is still a combat option. Who knew? Really frustrating to think you’ve solved the puzzle when you haven’t.

It seems it still helped to have gone through the previous events (and paid attention). I had no problem figuring out the shut down line because it’s one she used in the Pavilion attack. Though also it’s kind of clear that deactivation = denying the use to another.

On the other hand, I just tried variations of the pattern on Molten and Computer until it worked. A guildie pointed out the Flame and Frost symbolism on Molten. I still don’t quite know the logic to the computer solve.

I wouldn’t have known combat was even an option (I mean, it had it, but that seemed wrong to me as a puzzle solver) except I saw the achieve listing for doing it all by fighting.

I liked the puzzles, by the way. They were very simple versions of the stuff I loved in Myst and Riven.

I believe the logic is straightforward, albeit flawed. The Molten Alliance was part of “Flame and Frost”, which featured the Flame Legion and Dredge combining their abilities to forge new weapons (made of iron). So the proper combination is therefore Flame+Icicle+Iron.

Where I take issue with this solution, though, is that one of the other options for the second choice was snowflake. And a snowflake is closer to “frost” than a solid body of ice. It’s this kind of obtuseness that killed the old school adventure games that these puzzles were imitating. Though maybe that was also part of the imitation.

They couldn’t make it too easy. There’s no reason for them to hold our hands for this. I certainly don’t “blame” Anet for my own inability to get the Logic achievement first time round. Or second or third or….
