So after beating the instance at the top of the tower the first time, at the end of it Scarlet goes through a portal.
After examining it a bit, it seems like one of her usual hideouts, but on the left-ish side it’s kind of like a desert….

My imagination’s gonna go crazy, I’m thinking Orr, Elona, Crystal Desert, or anything like that.

She’s hiding in ol’ DR, right in Faren’s wardrobe.
That’s my speculation after playing this release.

I couldn’t get a proper screenshot, but if you play the story instance or re-watch it on YouTube, look carefully at the portal she leaves from.

Not sure if this is connected or not, but there is a heart quest in Lornar’s Pass dealing with steam creatures. The portal there resembling an Asura(?) lab / sci-fi-esque room on the other side looks exactly like the portal Scarlet disappeared off to (annoyingly, without us being even able to try and stop her…).

I think Scarlet’s master plan, is to manipulate a dragon to their personal interests.

I have come to the conclusion that Scarlet’s master plan is to keep coming up with random stuff for us to fight every two weeks. Shes so smart she’s broken the fourth wall and realized that our characters only exist to fight things and so she’s happy to keep them entertained with an every increasing mixed variety of foes.

See, Scarlet’s not the villian, the writing staff are the villians for not being able to come up with a coherent story after a year. She’s just been ad-libbing the whole thing so far to try and keep us entertained. She’s really kind of a tragic character when it comes down to it; hated by the players when all she wants to do is make sure we’re having fun.

Yes, Scarlet is probably the alter ego of ANet’s lead designer. “My work here his done. Thousands of players are running around a maze and zerging monsters, entertaining me until I can find more minis for the game store.”

I think she’s just jealous that she has to use leaves like a savage while Faren gets some cute looking “panties” made out of expensive silk.

Does anyone honestly care?

I’m serious, is anyone still even marginally interested in Scarlet for anything more than that morbid human curiosity that makes people slowdown to stare at a horrible accident? Can anyone tell me, with a straight face, without the slightest hint of sarcasm or schaddenfreud, that they’re looking forward to Scarlet’s next saturday morning cartoon?

Best thing Scarlet can do at this stage is fall on her keys off stage and reveal the “real” villain that was only using her, making her think she was going to take over the world, to cause a distraction so they could get along with their plans. Poor demented idiot thought she was taking over the world for her “master”, and instead she was just making a big mess and making people run around and take their eyes off the real master plan.

Yes, it would be a cop out, but anything is better than this atrocious disaster of a limp villain that is scarlet. You could find better villains on PowerPuff Girls for the love of god…

Well she did produce vines somehow to kill that Asura guy in the story they put on the website…

I honestly do care about Scarlet.

When coming up with villains, or with any characters, development and prolonged story to grow the curiosity and intellect of the persons involved is essential.

That being said, I’m sure that in due time we’ll all understand everything that’s happened to this day, and eventually unravel the story behind Scarlet, and possibly know more.

Thus, I’m curious to know where she disappeared off to.

I’ve been doing a lot of writing for my degree lately, and reading other writer’s work to criticise them. And I’ve discovered a pattern;

Bad writers will have many unrelated plots that go nowhere, linking them with the barest thread of plausibility. This is Scarlet as we see her now. But I’ve read some stories that start out like this.

Good writers, those I’ve commended in the past, can make these seemingly impossible feats join together into one coherent plot that kept you guessing right to the very end. I am hoping that this payoff is something waiting in the wings for us. Scarlet’s an interesting personality, but she’s just one cog of the plot.

From what I’ve seen so far, she’s conducting various levels of technological and biological research. From what I know of plots, I think (depending on the talent/ideas of the writers) that we may see Scarlet come to a nasty end “playing with forces beyond her comprehension”. Then we, as the players, have to destroy the meta-super-ultra monster that she summoned.

And then we get another villain. That’s my biggest gripe with Guild Wars 2; the inhuman villains are like supernatural weather and the human(oid) villains are so random, and so without palpable motivation I’m baffled every time a new “alliance” comes up.

The single, most important question the playerbase can ask Scarlet is “What are you for?”. Right now I think the answer is “nothing at all.”
