How ’bout an NPC that teaches a dance of every race and have that cost a set amount of gems to teach it to you?

Anyone agree with this idea?

I will do almost anything to get rid of my norn’s dance. She needs new moves!

I agree with Ulviden Norn should get the Techno Viking dance, the current Norn dance just seems… off with massive Norns doing it. Humans got the shuffle, Asurans got the robot, Charr got that new zealand tribal dance and the slyavari got… well I don’t know what they got.

Yes, it just looks comical on the huge, powerful Norn. Very out of place for them.

I hate the dance too but the first part isn’t even true. Like one of the very first personal storylines of the game straight up has a black Norn, she isn’t even a minor one either. She’s a Snow Leopard havroun named Svena. Plus you can definitely make dark skinned Norn PCs… just because it’s BASED off the real life mythology doesn’t mean it has to mimic it exactly, especially since GW2 is its own fantasy world in the first place.

Carlton being black doesn’t have anything to do with it, especially since the entire point of his character on Fresh Prince is that he acted like a preppy white dude, including the dance. This is some pretty weird reasoning against it.

The lore says Norn are light skinned. The game may oppose that but the game is based off the lore so yeah…. and the fact that they are heavily HEAVILY based off vikings and norse mythology is a big deal.

Under Physiology:
" Norn typically have light or pale skin, while those living in Lion’s Arch have their skin tanned by the sun".

All I’m saying is according to the lore and the people they were based off of, it would have made a lot more sense to have a dance that somehow related to them in SOME way.

The Humans get shuffling – Many humans today shuffle and it is very popular

The Asura get the robot – It is comical which fits the entire races personality

The Charr get the Haka – I am super jealous of this one. It is a warriors dance, done before war to intimidate the enemy by warriors from New Zealand, Hawaii, Samoa, and more.

The Sylvari get some dance, I don’t know what it’s called but I have seen it and it fits their personalities as well.

So I think my reasoning is pretty accurate. Techno Viking fits much more lol. Norn are warriors that live in the wilderness and worship animal gods…. why are we dancing like a goofy preppy white/black guy from the USA when they are based off of European warriors and mythos? No good reason man. No good reason.

And don’t take the race and country thing so seriously. People are too uptight about that crap sometimes lol. I’m a Black guy in Los Angeles and I love America. Just sayin’ lol. Trying to make a point, not offend anyone.

I hate the Norn dance I never want to dance it feels so unattractive and awkward.

I want a tribal or mythical dance, something that actually suits our race.

The norn dance is amazing.

The norn are the only race in the game who should be doing that dance.

Yes, the fact that they are enormous, muscular, and imposing makes it funny.

There are no “serious” dances in this game. Dancing Time is not Serious Time. If you want to be serious and in-character, don’t dance.

It’s a horrible dance, outta of so many much more funny and enjoyable dances, they pick that garbage… the heck.

It’s not unusual that dance is loathed by everyone.
It’s not unusual it’s no fun to anyone.
I’m exaggerating, but I’d have preferred the Human dance, or most other dances, to be honest. Maybe we’ll get a dance studio in the future, har har dy har.
On a related note, what’s up with all the huffing and puffing while dancing? It sounds like my character is having a stroke.

And to the OP; yes, I’m not a fan of the norn dance either. But in truth I’m not a fan of any of the dances, barring the asura’s, they fit wonderfully I think.

I love the norn dance. It suits them imo. Norn are not all that kitten, they like to drink and party and drink and tell tall tales (pun not intended). A somewhat foolish letting go of it all dance suits them.

Norns have the best dance in any MMO.

I would rather have some sort of a story line (then through gems). Imagine a little asura running up to you. “You imbecile might just have enough intelligence to manage this …”
The charr dance definitely displays more boasting then the norn dance.

Plus each order could have a dance. Something derwish perhaps for the priory, acrobatic for the whisperers…

Almost any dance would be better then what we, Norn have right now.

I loved the Metal dances from GW1 and would love to see something similar in GW2.

But… I’ll take Techno Viking over the piece of ……. we have right now.

nothing beats the idiotic face of my Norn while dancing… gave me hours of fun with my brother’s norn syncronizing our dance lol

It would be tough to top the dances available in GW1. So tough Anet was not up to the task

I like the dance. Think its pretty kitten hilarious. Especially on gigantic plate armored Norns.

Are you kidding me? What the Technoviking does is hardly dancing. He sure as heck is a cool guy, but I don’t think his moves would translate into the game well. (Besides, he is at his coolest when he points commanding at people, not when he dances).

The Carlton was exactly the choice that I wanted. I always petitioned for it to be in the game and I always wanted to play Norn. Now I’ve got the Norn with Carlton dance. It couldn’t get better!

Would pay for a mythical/tribal/ninja dance. Would pay for ANYTHING BUT the current. Oh the facial expression when she does it T__T whyyyy?

More emotes? Yes, please. I would love to have the option for more dances for any of my characetrs.
