My Norn enjoys the various entertaining ways his enemies drop dead while being roasted/frozen/lacerated/electrocuted. His only wish is to find a nice shaman-looking armor so that he can also look as cool and Norny as his warrior friends.
Male Norn Warrior here. For the most part, because of the racial size and physique, most of the Norn I’ve seen are either Guardians or Warriors. Fits the Norn to a tee.
My main is a level 80 (like that matters) Male Norn Mesmer. That’s right Mesmer.
I wear bright, frilly, and completely not Norn style armor. I wear cheerful colors (I would post a screen shot but my colors have been know to cause temporary blindness and insanity) and don’t care what anyone thinks.
Why in the name of the Spirits would I completely go against everything norn? Because my clones and I look tasteful (or tacky depending on your views), yet I still look like I would rip your throat out you make me mad. Norn size also makes light armor amazing.

I am a female Norn Guardian. The reason why I love being a Norn Guardian is because of the animation. The way the female Norn holds her Greatsword or Staff while in combat is so much better then a Human female Guardian.
You should see a Human female Guardian with a Greatsword, its pretty weird how they swing it (Sylvari has the same animation as human female).
I see so many Norn Guardians around, truly yes I think there’s many of them.
But, ironically I think that guardian does not “fit” the Norn. I see the Norn as hunters more than anything else, similar to “hunter-gatherer” shamans if you want to see it in a way. The classes I think that fit the Norn best are Ranger and Warrior. The Guardian, in my opinion, fits much better with Humans. But this is just subjectively what I think.
I do have a Guardian Norn myself, in fact she is my “main” character for the moment. Which I know is contradicting my own thoughts. But that’s because the Norn is my favorite race of the game, and the Guardian is the first class I tried, without thinking of “its place” within the Norn race at the time. when I created the character in question.
I’m a Norn Mesmer. I was going for a Witcher 2 king killer look. Big assassin magic guy. The only thing it’s my first character and am finding out the hard way that I look like a Bear Gay guy lol. Because how flamer there cloths look like lol. Quick question. Does there armor get any better looking? Lol

I agree Gallian. Furthermore I believe important central parts of norn lore back up what you’ve said too. First and foremost Norn are individualistic. This theme can be seen throughout norn life from their culture to the way they fight, how they live, their respect towards authority/government and so on.
There are small facets of norn lore which, taken in a certain way, suggest that some norn might choose to be guardians (e.g. ‘’They will never give up on their battle, quarry or friends’’).
There are probably more guardians than any other profession in my opinion. I think long held stereotypes from player brought over from other games mainly drive this, both with regard to what a norn race should be like as well as what roll a guardian profession should take.
I have a male Norn Warrior and a female Norn Thief. My Guardian is a Human.
The last two professions I had left to roll were Engineer and Thief, I debated long and hard but eventually settled on an Asura Engineer and the Norn Thief even though I had in the back of my mind the fact that female Norn Engineers are this game’s female Dwarf Rogue.
I have a Norn Engineer. Ever since GW: Eye of the North and meeting Jora I wanted to make a Norn. I also plan to make a Norn Ranger due to Eir, really love that character.
Because Norn Guardians are quite popular, I’m a norn guardian myself, I deleted my main Ricole Tohvel Sylvari Guardian and replaced him with my Proud celtic norn. I love guardian and norns fit em quite abit with the fighting on them. Norn Guardians are epic to see xD
I made a norn guardian too but I ended up deleting him since it felt wrong to me, guardians are magical warriors, now I see Norns as fighters so (warrior/ranger) or shamans (Mesmer, Ele or Necro), but judging from the norns I have seen around it seems I’m the only one who feels that way since it appears that 80% of the norn population are rangers/guardians

I disagree. I think Norn Guardians fit the lore perfectly. Guardians are essentially “mystic warriors” – so in the context of Norn culture, they would be warrior-shamans. Furthermore, the fact that Guardians are supposed to face overwhelming odds on their own and conquer them, fits Norn culture to the letter. In fact, Guardians would make perfect followers of Owl, due to the former Spirit’s nurturing and protective nature.

This. So my guardian is a follower of the wolf but has skills like calling an owl. Supplement that with ancestors spirits to weild swords and hammers, calling giant worms and invoking minor spiritsof fire and you have a perfect mystic warrior.
I am a Norn thief but i do agree that there is a lot of guardian and warrior based characters (players) in the server (isle of janthir). Plus to make things a bit more unqiue for the race the thief tier 1,2, and 3 culture armor is really based only off of the wolf and has this weird look to it. Along with this weird look on a thief for armor the class is very very rare to see
2 80 Norn so far, ele and guardian, but I’ve also got a warrior and ranger norn (all 4 female). Most of the other guardians I see running around are humans or sylvari though.
I have a Norn female Necromancer. I like Norn mostly because I like the style. The cold and fur lining the armor, the warrior like image. If I could live like a Norn I probably would.
Humans actually fit the most (lore-wise) for guardian. A noble human guardian- norns aren’t really “noble”, I see norn more like barbarians and hunters (..so warrior and ranger). I guess people choose it because norns are so huge and tall wich make them look beast and cool. My main is a norn ranger and I love her style ^^
