I think it’s no secret that Norn got the short end of the stick when it comes to racials. Their utility racials are
Boring: Oh wow, summoning beasts that aren’t even based on Norn backstory.
and
Weak: Seriously, Owl is a just plain low damage. Wurm is much the same.
and
Lazy: The engineer skills are both “eat an egg”, and we’re the only race that doesn’t get any effects on our utilities that may make them at least somewhat useful.

Then you have the Elites:
They all lower your damage. You can’t heal. Most consider only the Leopard any useful due to it’s stealth

Not to mention they’re lazily designed in the first place. Take a look at all four, here’s something you’ll see a lot:
Attack
Growl/Roar/Shriek/Snarl to weaken foes/strengthen allies
Attack something multiple times
Charge/Pounce/Swoop on the enemy.

You think Charr would like it if all three of their elites were Warband support but each one based on a different Legion? If Human elites were all Avatar of X god following the same format as our forms? I don’t think so.

But I digress. Why our racials are crappy is rather well known. Here should be brainstormed how to make them better. So post your own ideas here on how you’d change things.

Utilities:
Spirit of the Wild: Summon your Guardian Spirit of the Wild to Protect you and fight by your side
Essentially summon a spirit based on what you chose at character creation (if this isn’t possible from a technical standpoint, a random one of the four). When summoned it’ll give a roar that gives you a very short term buff.

Agreed. Norn racials must be probably some chill spell, some totem summon or some totem buff. Like bear for power, wolf for vitality, leopard for crit, raven for condition damage.

Racial utilities and elites must be useful for all classes and support class, not just put because every race need something.

Anet purposefully made most if not all racials for every race subpar cause they didn’t want players to pick a race based off certain spells.

True, but this is comparing norn racial skills to that of other races. As far as norn are concerned their racial skills offer the least utility or viability.

The Asura may, arguably, have the best racial skills inflicting daze, confusion, poison, weakness, and granting retaliation. They can easily augment many build types and offer conditions that are hard to come by for some classes.

Charr have some highly useable racials and when combined with an engineer have great tool belt skills that are better than any other racial in that regards. On my charr engineer I find myself using Battle Roar and Hidden Pistol frequently and Mortar works great on static bosses such as the ones in Twilight Arbor.

Sylvari and human skills aren’t as useable as the asuran or charr but they still have some utility behind them. The norn get a kick in the pants and it is time they got considered for a revamp.

And went completely overboard with that. They’re plain ol’ useless.
Not to mention that every single PVE content in this game can be completed with a randomly thrown together fun build, so even if they made racials 5 times as strong they still would be far from “needed”.

Norn bear is so strong, more people need to check it out. A lot use snow lep but the 5 skill on bear will carry anybody to safety. It can also knock people over and almost one shot them.
