Male norns cry too much when fighting in melee. I find it too repetitive. It sounds like they are having sex or like a bad tape in cassette recorder. Compare it with Charr melee sounds – different story. Why is this?

Personally I think its just too much. If it was like once a critical or like 10-15% of the time it would be fine. Opening move, long CD skill, killing blow, etc.

My warrior says something like “for great justice!” a lot when he fights. Or something similar.

Second time I heard it I shouted “someone set us up the bomb!” at my PC. Fortunately no one else was home.

For great justice is just from one of the Warrior buffs, its about every 30 seconds.

I absolutely agree that the Norn males are far too noisy during combat.
What I think is happening is that each time you start an attack, there are about 4-5 different sounds the norn will make during the swing (very very noticeable on greatswords) and if you button mash or spam skills pretty quickly the guy just starts wailing over and over, usually the most annoying drawn out one 8-10 times in a row. It’s really bothering me, in fact I have rerolled from my 80 Norn warrior as a human warrior just to get away from the sounds. I really hope they change this or add an option to change it or something, it’s just too much right now.
This really isn’t that big of an issue, I just really get into this game and this dying whale symphony from my Norn breaks the immersion every time. =/

What I can tell is that the “voice acting” in general is sort of weak. with comments like “I’m awesome!” from my female char… it just doesn’t fit in fantasy RPG.

about norn mele? well try charr mele if you thing norn crys a lot ;p

I think it is mainly subjective. Personally I do not pay attention to most of it. When I do my jump shot, it has actually become commonplace for the real life me to make the same yell that the norn me is doing as I jump. (I use it mostly with jumping puzzles).

I did make a suggestion one of those beta weekends that we get a toggle to turn off our own voice (and/or those around us), but I do not think it made it in… yet.

That’s not even the worst bit. The male Norn jumping noises.
Goodness.
At least their cry of sadness is very well done.

I also like the fact that my norn warrior grunts and puffs all the time when fighting. I can understand it sounds more silly if you’re waving a toothpick and casting spells.

There is a sound when you get hit(Norn male) that your character sounds as if he’s a Grawl or a donkey. The character has this nice grave voice, and all the other reactions to being hit are ok. Just this one that sounds pitched, Grawl-like.

Sometimes it’s necessary listening to the silence, it could tell more..
