I think the aesthetics for the other races or spot on (except maybe Asura head size), but for some reason I can’t get behind the Norn. Actually it’s not for “some reason”, it’s for a very specific combination of reasons.

1.) The males look too much like overly-exaggerated humans. The Norn male would be much cooler if it looked either much less like a human or much more like a human. The body shapes are just fugly and way too cartoonishly exaggerated. They should either only be moderately bigger than humans or have an altogether different appearance from humans, if not both.

2.) The females look more like human females than the human females do and very little like the norn males. This is mostly due to the fact that they have similar proportions to a human while the male’s proportions are cartoonish (extremely top-heavy), like a caricature rather than an actual person. Again, it’s just skewed. They should look like winter-hardened giants and not just regular human women.

Dont care. Got giant boobs.

Just a little fix in the shoulder area would be good, so I don’t get those clipping issues

I have a male and a female Norn 80-es, love them both. I do believe that amongst races in which gender differences are barely noticeable (charr, asura), and races with no real concept of gender (sylvari) it is alright to have one race in which the males and females have great differences and fall more in line with the fantasy tropes we are used to (buff males, pretty females etc.).

To get on topic with OP’s statement, I think the males look the way they do because there’s that legend (rumor, w/e) that Norns are descendants of the Kodan, so their body shape seems representative of bears. Just a thought. shrug

This. Most norn male and human female models look ridiculous. Then again, GW2 has never been big on “immersion” – if people want their comically buff norn men and eternally bored supermodel human women, there’s little reason from an aesthetic/realistic point of view to change them or significantly expand the customization options.

i think they are fine…
its pretty natural of them to be huge, think of people who lived in a harsh climate, surrounded by danger and searching for danger at all times. I think that it makes it pretty reasonable about their size.

i always thought that they were like, giants, just smaller than the jothun.

Really? I always imagined your average Norn would still be built like an elite boxer even if he drinks 20 mugs of ale every night.
