Hi, I made a Norn/Elementalist and just started, I guess I’m wondering if I’m hindering myself in any way in that decision as far as, PvP, WvW, or endgame? I really like the Norn, and I originally thought I wanted to make a Norn/Ranger, but as i read through the forums, I heard that Rangers are the worst class as far as balance goes.

Nope. Norn are great and Elementalists are great. Your racials might not be quite as good as other races’ options, but the difference doesn’t really end up being all that much, and it’s more than made up for by being the sexiest race in the game.

Race / class combo doesn’t matter at all in pvp. Only thing that has any influence is your skill with the class vs other peoples skill, and the build you choose to roll with. I noticed a ton of people roll Asuras under the premise that they’re harder to see or some jazz when pvping, but I haven’t had a problem spotting them and pounding them into dust lol. I will say that the snow leopard racial elite form is mega sexy. Free invis and a 1800 meter sprint that’s insanely fast is fantastic.

Matter of fact I recall watching a video where a Norn elementalist would invis sprint to a target in snow leopard form, knock them down with the charge, switch back to normal form and utterly blow up her target. I can’t find the exact video to save my life, but it was pretty awesome to watch!

There is 1 down side, people do target you first, because youll be the biggest, and follow you all through zergs to kill you..though that may be because im an engineer…

Concerning what setun said, i actually chased down an DD elementalist with snow leopard form and killed them, /single tear from eye.

I have also thought about that Asura may be harder to see, but in practice they are not really.

So instead I made Charr Mesmer as big as I could and hope that people will only see my clones

Not to mention that Elementalists are hardly a subtle Profession, with all the firey infernos and whatnot.

The Asura advantage is minimal at best.

The only thing picking norn will give you grief on is jumping puzzles – even then the challenge isn’t insurmountable, and plenty of people don’t care for them in general.

PvP, WvW, endgame? You can get by with any race, regardless of profession I’m pretty sure (some might argue “except for professions that are bad on every race”, YMMV). One of the things ANet did deliver on.
