Female Elementalist: Gaele Tavisdottir
one of two of my character names that nod to the Codex Alera book series.

Never read those books but did a quick search. Elementalist fits it perfectly.

Mine is a Warrior named : Little White Ninja (The Irony?)

’Tis ironic. I originally wanted to make a norn thief and name him Sammo, after Sammo Hung.

Raglhoth is a nice sounding name. Fits a norn.

My guardian’s name is “Helmwige Herjare”.

Helmwige is one of the valkyries from Wagner’s opera “The Valkyrie”, Herjare is just inspired from eirherjar.

My Guardian Norn is named “Godmode”
Because with that name yes it had to be a Norn and yes it had to be a guardian.

Godmode is an awesome name, reflects the holy aspect of guardian and massive aspect of being a Norn.

Big E Nada Smalls, background story is that he was conceived whilst his Iberian Celtic mountain region Norn parents listened to a Biggie Smalls album, named after his father Edgar but not a fan of being called Edgar II he adopted the name Big E Nada Smalls, because he’s a big kitten Norn Warrior with nothing small about him.

well you got a pretty barbarian-ish name there, also that lastname makes me think of some kind of nordic deity or sacred place, quite fitting for a warrior!!

I like. Not sure if pronunciation is correct but I’d pronounce the first name “Eetra”, or is it like “Ahetra”? Anyway I like. The Ironbender part makes me feel it’s either a Warrior or a Guardian.

In my case I got two Norn females with whom I attempted to give a more or less “serious” name, they are:

Keeyma Ultharyn (Guardian), which is pronounced Kee-ma (‘y’ is mute) Ulth-areen.
Meirhynn Valyad (Mesmer), which is pronounced May-reen Val-ee-ad.

I do have a third Norn, Male Engineer but I couldn’t come up with something serious and I think I was tired. So I just went with something fitting for him being an Engineer and having tools with him all the time in his backpack.

So I named him Apparatus Maximus … lol, oh well.

I like Keeyma Ultharyn. Ultharyn reminds me of Ulfvarrin a name I used in GW1. (pronounced similarly)

All my characters are norn -_- I have 8. But, my favorite is Odin Hárbardr (hoary-beard/grey-beard my necro), Odin the Wanderer (my ranger), Fenrirr Lokison (my thief).

I love Norse mythology.

Odin the Wanderer (my ranger): same thing, honestly I’m surprised you were able to get the name without it being taken already
Fenrirr Lokison (my thief): I think this name is pretty darn cool

I’ve got a Norn Ranger named Gudrik Arnvidsson, my Swedish friend’s middle name is Gudrik, and I found the name ‘Arnvid’ by Googling for Medieval Viking names

My ranger is named Lorelei Bloodmoon. I liked the song Loreley from Blackmore’s Night and it has a bit of a cool watery, feminine myth to it, so I like it (you can wiki Lorelei if you like). The surname comes from my husband’s Noiram Bloodmoon (we’re roleplaying them as married in-game, too). He chose Bloodmoon because it is another name for the hunter’s moon (and fits both Norn and Rangers).

My warrior, Lakia Bloodmoon, came from GW1. I didn’t think I’d like warriors, but I’ve grown quite fond of her. Lakia means “found treasure” in Arabic, I believe. Her story will be that she was raised by a pack of wolves (her totem is the wolf) and she has the name Bloodmoon because of the wolfs raising her (so she’s not related to Lorelei). And her name is Lakia because the wolves found her alone, respected her surviving capabilities, and raised her as one of their own.

I really didn’t think I’d get this much into role-playing, but that just happens with the Norn, doesn’t it?

Bloodmoon having the name of Hunter’s Moon definitely fits although it is not so apparent. I like the lore behind Lorelei, it’s cool, again not apparent, but definitely works.

I got this before the game started, I knew I wanted to be “Hjördís Svanhildr – Norn ranger” I found nordic names, picked my favorite and here we are. First, best and probably only character I’ll enjoy.

Ivar Skargrad-Ranger, Wolf, Strength to defend Spirits., revenge story. An older of two brothers. He is Gray! Huge as a mountain tho. Travels around with his Wolf Molnir…
Vidar Skargrad-Warrior, Bear, Cunning, “dude where’s my warwagen?” story. Younger of two brothers. Brown haired. Huge as a mountain. Prefers Rifles and bows and horns.
Gunnar(wanted Gun?r, but the game won’t let me) Knutsson, Ele, Raven, Instinct, Romke’s Horn. Just tall and pretty slender. Brown haired. Prefers Water and Earth. Thinks that Fire is too destructive. Progresses through storyline such as he begun with daggers and ended up with ABSOLUTE King of Ele weapons-Staff. I think that it is ok that it end with -son instead of -sen.

I think my names are nice(and norse enough). Put a LOT of time in them…

Profession: Engineer
Appearance: White hair, wrinkly face, rather slender body for a norn, panascopic monocle
Totem: Wolf
Motto: Kill it with fire!

My character went through a lot of first names. First I wanted Garm, but Anet revealed Eir’s pet and I didn’t want it to look like I stole the name of an important NPC. So I chose Ulfrik. But then came Skyrim with Ulfrik Stormcloak, so I had to change it again. Eventually I chose Tyr. I wanted the name to be connected to wolves, which I got with this name, since Tyr’s hand was bitten off by the wolf Fenrir.

Tyr Snowmane is a very Norn-y name. I really appreciate it when people base their Norn names off of something from actual Norse mythology, it shows that they actually thought it out. And of course anything involving snow is appropriate.

I didn’t give my Necromancer a last name because I think it suits her to have only one. Her name is Hrafndís, which means “Raven Goddess”.

I like the name. Its very powerful and you clearly put effort in it. thumbs way way up

Yours sounds like an ethereal Valkyrie name. Pretty yet somehow fitting.

Mine is a Guardian named Signe the Aegis.

7/10 for Signe the Aegis. Aegis is not a word a Norn would choose to discribe some kind of protection, I guess. “the wall”, “the shield” or something like that would fit more, I think.

My Norn is a female Ranger and she’s called Ylva Vargsdottir. Ylva is a scandinavian and means she-wolf, Varg is swedish for Wolf and dottir stands for daughter. Her favorite Spirit of the Wild is, of course, the wolf and her Pet is a grey wolf called Arkon.

Sounds like your name, Ylva Vargsdottir, fits your character! When I speak the name I picture a ferocious woman with a longbow on her back and.. I kid you not, an axe and a dagger in her hands.. don’t know why.

Ranger – Halfdan Wolfmane.

I really like northern-like names, and there are so many good ones in this topic. Halfdan Wolfmane is one of them.

For myself, i like everything that have some northern roots, though my name is more like a casual norn one with fantasy roots rather than northern ones, since my main characters used to get the same name variations in every game.

My guardian’s name is taken from her totem animal, the Raven (Hrafn is old norse for raven) and Hildr is a common name I’ve seen used for valkyries, which was the inspiration for the character) Granted, Hrafn is actually a male name, but, she’s pretty tomboyish.

I have a norn elementalist named Alva Gunnarsdottir.

Alva means something along elf or such (she is a very small norn) and Gunnarsdottir…. well Gunnar is a very old nordic name and my dads name in real life. So if the old naming conventions from times gone by was still in effect my name would indeed have been Gunnarsdatter, Icelandic sound more like ancient norse languages (the least changed nordic language) thus dottir.

I have two Norn females who, in my headcannon, are sisters. Astrid and Freya Bearsdottir. Both blessed by bear, their backstory is that they were orphaned as children and discovered around age three living with a female bear who had raised them as her cubs. Freya grew up to be a Ranger while Astrid became a necromancer.

“Jora Corrupted” (guardian wielding the Jormag-ice-style scepter Coldsnap and a Corrupted Shield – yes, I keep expecting to get a balista-bolt through the torso every time I drop by Hoelbrak for supplies )
