Rate the Norn Name Above You
I like it, fist name sounds like it would sound cool in a deep norn voice (tho at first look I read Rodman)
My ranger goes by the name Norngolian!
Norngolian, sound funny!
My Norn (Ranger Female): Inanna Sleepstalker
Inanna Sleepstalker – odd name, awesome surname!
my norn: If you smelll (yea that’s my name)
haha weird name :P
Mine is Olaf Witbips
I have no idea what that second part means, but I’m guessing you’re a dual axes warrior.
Here’s mine: Ivarr Eagle Eye
Female for some role-play purposes.
I like Ivarr, but the Eagle eyes doesn’t really fit.
Líf Gunnhildr
I am completely in love with names ending in -hildr, so that’s a win right there before we even get to the adventurous but elegant Líf. I must ask, is it pronounced GUN-hilder or GOON-hilder?
Chops Mcgee!
Sounds like a norn who could give MacGuyver a run for his money.
I went with Sagani Sagiri as the name for my Raven revering Mesmer.
Saghani = Inuit name that means “Raven”
Sagiri = Japanese word for “haze”
Although using two languages in a name seems strange I thought it had a nice ring to it.
I like Saghani and the choice of Inuit (since I love Inuit culture), but I wouldn’t have chosen Japanese as a reference language for Norn – although mixing two languages is cool.
I have two Norn:
Saskia (simply means saxon woman) Silvermane – Ranger, follower of the Wolf
Mjöll (fresh snow) Hunnveig (young bear cub) – Guardian, follower of the Bear
I like Saskia Silvermane. Rolls off the tongue, haha. Mjöll too, though I’ve never seen anything like Hunnveig before. It sounds cool though, and has meaning.
My only Norn at the moment is a female thief named Svena.
Svena, seems solid. Good Norse-sounding name. Now go out and earn yourself a surname! =P
My female norn ranger goes by Haeldra Longstride
I like it, the Longstride part specifically. Something about it appeals to me.
Andraste Celestina
Yeah I know, not very nornish or anything……but meh D;
Heh a lot more of a human name to be honest. Very feminine however.
Mine is Jom Cavehowler – Roaming Warrior of the Bear.
His surname is from an episode in a cave, involving a lot of bloodshed and howling.. Aye, funny I know.
Mine is Jom Cavehowler – Roaming Warrior of the Bear.
Love it.
Um, mines….
“Conquest” No Surname.

Andraste Celestina
Dragon Age fan, by any chance?
Hm, Conquest… Short and to the point, and a bit better than Conqueror would be. It is impressive that you managed to grab the character name, nevertheless.
My turn: female Norn thief called Mardis Vaskemaskin.
Andraste Celestina
Dragon Age fan, by any chance?
Tbh I had not played Dragon Age till after I made my norn XD
Andraste Celestina
Dragon Age fan, by any chance?
Tbh I had not played Dragon Age till after I made my norn XD
Really?? I hadn’t ever heard of the name Andraste until I played Dragon Age.
nicknames: Skidbladnir and Sigvard
Good names but for some odd reason it reminds me of Russian names and when I think Russia with GW2 I think Dredge.
My Guardian Norn’s name: Rusty Tooth
Note: Yes he uses that tooth to open his cans of Ale! See you at the next Moot!
| 80 (Mesmer) Brook Envision | 80 (Thief) Kuro Rin |
My norn name is Alfonso Arc Valoir. It isn’t necessarily lore-based, yet it does have some norn aspect to it. Arc Valoir means “Valiant bow” in French because I chose to be a ranger. I chose the first name Alfonso because it was very Russian/German sounding which I liked about it. Rate the name!
Mortis Umbra (MU)
charr necros ftw
I LOVE the Arc Valoir thing for ranger, and Alfonso seems kinda cool. Alfonso sounds like some big tough mafia dude, so I totally imagine a norn.
My Engineer is named Icebaine, I just thought it sounded cool and I am decked out in dredge gear with celestial, frost, and blue dye
I dig the surname, did you go with either of the smithing classes as a profession?
Mine are brothers, Clovis and Nerrath Stoneskull
edit: I was apparently not on the most recent post when I replied, that was in reference to Ironbender on the last page.

Not the brightest family, I take it? Nice first names.
My female Norn thief is named Hulda Raske. They’re real-world Norwegian names.
According to behindthename Hulda means “secret, hidden” and Raske means “speedy”.
My Norn female is named in part after an Icelandic friend of mine who’s first name is Brynhildur. So my character’s name is Bryn (short for Brynhildur) and Thorsdottir (daughter of Thor, the Warrior from Norse mythology. (She’s a Guardian btw.
Really like Hulda Raske and Brynhildur ! Sounds really nordic and Norn-style.
Mine is not that original, I have to say… My warrior female Norn is named Mjolnir Sabjorn. (Mjolnir is the name of Thor’s hammer in the Norse mythology and Sabjorn is the name of a unimportant NPC in Skyrim. It sounded nice.)
I am considering doing her a younger sister named Freya Sabjorn.
(By the way, j’s are supposed to be pronounced like y’s.)
I like both Mjolnir and Freya though I prefer Freyja. Not a fan of the last name.
My Norn Guardian is named Askr Yggdrasil. The meaning behind it is kind of confusing to explain and it’s probably best to read it on Wikipedia for the full explanation.
Yggdrasil makes me think of a lot of other things, most notably giant trees (and it looks like Wikipedia says it is indeed a giant tree) and Norn don’t strike me as very treelike. It is Norse, but still, I don’t know… I guess it depends on what you’re going for. Well it is a guardian, so maybe.
anyway, my dude is named Varg Tevormir
I named my Norn Ranger’s pet Ice Drake “Nidhogg”, for the dragon that gnaws on the roots of the Yggdrasil.
One of my norn’s names is Grimmr Bjornfugl ,,which is three old norse words Fierce Bear Spirit. And I cant remember my others name but it means Ancient Black Bird
(edited by circusfreak.2403)
My Norn is Uthgar Stormbringer, an elementalist.
Sigurd Greymane, guardian
~ Piken
Well that’s certainly an appropriate name for someone who has mastery over the elements. You like using the Water and Air attunements often, I take it?
Here’s the names of my 2 Norn characters:
Shadow Silverfire – Thief
Albrecht Starslayer – Warrior
I love your second name. Seems very norn. The first one? I don’t know but something seems off to me (but what do I know).
Aric Landvick -Mesmer
(I always use the first name Aric in an MMO when possible. Landvick was an old norse family name I found on Wikipedia)
~Aric Landvick
~Level 80 Norn Mesmer
I like your last name its go’s with the class your playing and its also Norn like its a name Thats carry wait like a norn but is swift and mystic like a mesmer
Your fist name is a little to human like its count how you pronounce it. for a more norn feeling try Auric so the a sounds more blunt
My Norn is Vohn Madthane
His Bios is that he half Norn half Human his mother is a Ritualist/Mesmer Owl priestess and His dad is a Human agent for the order of whispers
I like your name. Sounds kinda like the Mad King.
I have two norn:
Guardian’s name is Svanhild. It’s a Norwegian name which comes from the words for Swan and Battle and is also the daughter of Sigurd and Gudrun from Norse mythology.
Hunter is named after one of my GW1 characters, Druantia Hawke. Not sure that one is too Norn sounding.
Tarnished Coast
Heh, now Svanhild – there’s a classic ‘Nordic Tailkicker’ name.
Only one Norn here: Skuld Thunderhand, given the second name due to being an Engineer with an affinity for explosives/hand-cannons.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
(edited by Advent.6193)
Skuld Thunderhand sounds very straight forward and aggressive.
Good use of the Engineer tie in as well.
Sarnak Ghostbear is one of mine
Sarnak Ghostbear sounds good. Fits well in with the Norn idea.
My norns are.
Skallagrim Kveldulv, guardian and Hilding Hrafnson, ranger. Wolf spirit and Raven spirit.
Very Viking like, nice. I’m not sure how to read them though. I’m sure you you put a lot of work thinking those names.
My Norn’s name is Emma Mann
[KAIN] Centurion
“I play female characters, so what?”
Doesn’t sound too…Norny. And makes me think of an hermaphrodite Norn. xD
Nordr Úlfhédnar (Norn Warrior, Wolf Spirit).
Taken the name from ancient nordic language, which can be translated to: northward wolf-coated berseker.
^ Sounds like the name of someone I would want to have by my side in a battle !
My main character is a Necromancer named Andlat Helsonr, andlát being one of the Nordic words for death.
A very fitting name for a Norn necromancer!
My Norn warrior is named Hjördís. Old Norse for “sword goddess”, and she also appears in Norse mythology. No surname, which ties in with her being an orphan.
[nPIG] The Nibbly Pig Inc. | [AUNZ] Oceanium
Sea of Sorrows
Hjördís is a nice name. Sounds very norn-like. I have a Norn male warrior named
Tarbrak
I like it. My female Norn guardian is Jossaphen.
A variant on Josephine I guess? While the original name, if it is the case, is not that nornish, I think it becomes a LOT better in your version, not too femminine, which is quite apropriate, kudos!
My own chars:
Thuran Thorgrimsson
(first name is the one i always use for my male main in mmo’s, and I ended up between torn between that and Thorgrim so…there you have it.)
Geira Sveinasdottir
(to this day, it wont even let me create gibberish unless i tag on a surname, even tried punching in random letter, still said “taken.” . Geira is the feminine form of the name element Geir-, which is identical to the Old Icelandic geirr, “spear.”)
Definitively fits I do believe
My male norn ranger is Saxon Snowchild… If you can’t get the reference in his first name you need to study British history.
Hmmm here goes … Brok Barakson
Mine is Cigmar Orentus
Aetra Ironbender sounds good. Can she bend iron? xP
My page is messing up =( I said the name I responded to was the last name when it wasn’t
