Something I feel is wrong with the Norn.
That wouldn’t be fair to rangers; pets are a significant part of the game and integrated into how rangers play, a norn ranger against a norn warrior would be at a loss.
It wouldn’t be fair to other races. PvE balance is important, just like PvP balance.
The UI would be clogged up; there would have to be a pet window AND the classes’ normal class-specific window.
Sounds like you like the feel of a norn ranger and it isn’t so much anything that’s wrong with other norn classes. i can’t see why a norn engineer/elementalist/any nonranger class would have a pet. They’re giants, not beastmasters.
I would rather love if the animal transfomations were looking like real animals instead like big humans in ill-fitting carnival-costumes.^^
Or even to shape shift and to be able to keep normal weapon skill bars.
ie: if I slot a norn transformation skill, when i enter into a battle, for 30 secs I transfer to what ever I chose, and keep my normal class skills with a slight stat change. Bear increase HP, and attack, Snow leopard increase Precision as examples, then put the skill into cool down.
It would make the skills more functional, and put it more like the lore. In fact it should be a race mechanic, not an elite skill. I would also just be happy to transform for 30 sec into battle more often, and NOT get stat increase or new skills.
As it is, I don’t want to give up my profession elite skill for a norn one.
Hell, take away the almost 7 seconds you’re standing there to both cast and do the beast roar and I’ll be happy…or at the very least making it so that when that roar happens it pushes back all enemies around you so you’re not a complete sitting duck when casting it
I can see your point. I originally thought that Norns would be able to shape-shift based on the guardian animal spirit that you choose during character creation. I like that the Norn has the ability to morph into an animal, but I feel that the Norn should be able to spend a longer time in the beast form.
The Norn are only half giants and are straight up hunters. They like to show off their accomplishments and compare them to other Norns. They do have a guardian spirit but if you were to spend more time in say bear form you might as well just have another race to choose from called the Kodan.
Norn should be taller IMO

Norn aren’t all hunters. Many are adventurers, pirates, warriors etc.
I have a companion pet … minipets.
I don’t think by default all norns should get pets. Not all norns by default are hunters either. If there is anything all norns should have, it’s probably some spirit totem ability to replace the summon.
