WHY is there no bauble counter. WHY cant we go back and walk around the map after we finish. WHY did you make me back track half way through the map to get to the shortcut eagle over and over and over and over and over and over until I could finally pull of that IMPOSSIBLE jump (unless you pull of the dodge jump).
The World 1 bauble things were fine. still would have been awesome to be able to tell if you missed one. Though the W1 zones are way shorter. WAY shorter. I finally manage to pull off that dodge roll jump and not get knocked off the eagle, I get to the end, grab the last 6 baubles, kill the boss, jump into the chest with a feeling of great accomplishment and satisfaction and then… well, nothing. no achievement. awesome.

You don’t need to dodge jump before the eagle – when you jump, just move perfectly straight, parallel to the side of the cloud and you should make it with a fair few pixels to spare.

Yeah, I’m definitely waiting until these issues are addressed before I attempt the bauble achievement in World 2, Zone 2. Definitely. The level of frustration with this achievement voiced on the boards isn’t coincidence.

You don’t have to backtrack, just think a bit instead of following a video that was put out quickly and has a far from optimal route. This achievement was frustrating but not for those reasons you listed (i’ll give you the bauble counter or popup before boss, that would make it far better).

Spent hours in W2Z2 hell aswell, following guide getting all those stinking baubles. Finally got to part where i had to backtrack to shortcut eagle to get last few where he drops me. Well it was far from pleasant constant deaths and running through whole map back to him. Finally once managed to fly him to the end, only to spawn on my checkpoint wth?! So was running back to him again and i got disconnected. All progress made over few hours of torture lost. Thank you Anet for making me hate your game.

Cant you just take the eagle in the beginning, then die and youre back at the start? Or does it give you a checkpoint right after you finish flying?

I was wondering that as well, and I feel stupid for not trying it in the first place. When I got my achievement I collected all the other baubles first, but then DC’ed just before the eagle. And I had to do all that again. Not even the second time, did it cross my mind I should’ve started with the eagle though

If it’s anything like wurm it will bind you to closest checkpoint upon droping you.

You need to master dodge jumping, I have a feeling it will be necessary in the future. I know that in Trib mode there are certain areas that dodge jumping makes things 100x easier.
It’s easy and extremely useful to learn. Space + V while moving forward. Will come in handy on regular JPs too, so take the time to master it I say.
It’s not 100% needed, but yea that cloud before the eagle can be quite devastating if you miss it and have to run all the way back from that checkpoint before the ground teleporters.

It’s not quite like the wurm, cause it drops you in a really high place that you can only reach via eagle, and the checkpoint is underneath it. And if I remember right the checkpoint isn’t activated. So you can just suicide by jumping off and I suppose you spawn at the checkpoint before the eagle.

The eagle drops you at the bell outside of the last checkpoint. If you don’t trigger that checkpoint and you kill yourself you will respawn before the portal maze. Checkpoint just after leaving gong tower. You will still be much much closer to the end of the map and have to back track the other direction to get all the baubles in between. I have not successfully gotten the achievement as I experienced the same issue but i can confirm this is how the shortcut eagle works.

You do have to backtrack to get to the baubles on the bell. Taking the shortcut eagle when you encounter it doesn’t work as it save you to the checkpoint before the portal maze.
I sympathize with OP. I spent more than 2 hours getting my achievement, and if I did not get the achievement in the end like OP I don’t think I would even attempt to try to get it again. The entire thing is just frustrating.

Heh, I got every bauble except the one right before the boss on that drawbridge. Got up to the gong hitter, hit the gong, dropped the drawbridge and then excitedly jumped on the gong hitter to make my way to the final bauble and I bugged into the stupid gong hitter. Literally stuck, couldn’t get out, and believe me, I did everything humanly possible for 15min before deciding I was stuck for good.
I even tried to get creative and invited someone into my party, ported them in, and then tried to fake a DC so I could relog and have my spot saved. Leaving the instance reset the achievement and I got no credit.
Needless to say I raged hard. Real hard. Second time around took half the time because I knew how to do most of the harder spots with ease.
