Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this problem themselves. Even with the proper sliders pushed up it really seems hit or miss if anyone can hear it all around you or even if I can hear it. I know when flutes and others were added they were quite loud which is why the slider was added in but the boombox seems to stay quiet most of the time. People have told me they’ve put master and instrument volume on max but still had issues hearing it. Is anyone else getting this with theirs?
Oh.. and Anet while I like the boombox I am hoping you will modify it so I can carry it on my shoulder instead of in front of me. I mean an 80’s boombox not on my shoulder? Come on now! Oh.. and I hope there will be an insert for set 2 songs… ;3
considering there will be 4 of them and it’s not a real instrument I feel they missed the mark on price as well. 800 gems for 1 and 3200 for the set once all 4 are out is too rich for me. I enjoy the music and all but…
Ya, I spent a little gold on it but that is a very good point there Kopper. All the other instruments play whatever you want and this is just the SAB music. While the SAB music is very cool the price point is nutty. Especially when you factor in only getting one worlds songs at a time. I kinda thought I’d get both worlds this time to be honest with this one box but did not.
I kind of regret purchasing it, I mean I LOVE it, but it’s so quiet even at max I cant hardly hear it. On top of that I was absolutely broken after I found out you can’t use it in WvW. Why wasn’t that communicated
We’ll look into the volume issue, it should be about the same volume as other instruments. Especially for the owner. I can’t say for sure it’s an easy fix… but i’ll pass this thread on to the audio gurus.
Didn’t purchase it but walked next to some who did. All there was was silence around them. It’s kind of strange for the boombox music to be controlled by the music volume slider instead of player instruments slider. I had both music and instruments sliders turned up and before approaching the boombox, the LA music was blasting. Then I got near it and the music quickly muted away to silence. It was a bubble of silence around the boombox o_o? I don’t have the in game music on most of the time but it would be annoying to have the music fade in and out while walking around for those who like listening to LA music lol.
Agreed with everything mentioned. The volume of the Boombox to the owner carrying it is about 1/3 compared to the flute, horn or bell. And on top of that the radius is near non-existent for anyone passing by. You have to be practically on top of the person with the boombox to hear it, and even then, its only 1/3 of what the owner hears. Barely audible at all.
It doesn’t work in WvW, I’d like for it to work in WvW. Also I don’t want this to be a thing where it doesn’t work in some places, I had planned on using songs 2 and 4 in the Halloween event.

That is not the reason we got it and you are a very depressing person.
I have everything on max in audio settings and can hear NPC dialogs, effect and enviromental music, but I cannot hear the boom box when I’m playing it. Others apparently can (I asked someone if he can hear it). Restarting the game didn’t fix the issue. So I spent 800 gems for nothing…
Boombox isnt as much of a boombox as it is a whisperbox, had to turn up the Player Instrument Volume all the way to even hear it.
And apparently the sound fades off extremely quickly so other players cant really hear it unless they’re standing right on top of you. (and of course have their Player Instrument Vollume up)
I seriously agree with the low volume. I have Player Instrument Volume on max and all other sounds on around 25% and I can still barely hear it. Not to mention when someone else plays their boom box I can barely hear it at all.
If I had known this I probably wouldn’t even have bought it. Such a waste of $10,- if this doesn’t get fixed.
EDIT: Someone just played a horn and I went deaf. How the hell do you expect me to enjoy my boombox when another player can just walk by, use the Horn, make me deaf and make me turn my volume down? This is absurd. I’m seriously thinking about writing a ticket to get a refund. :/

Oh.. still can’t carry it on my shoulder, use it with things like tonics, and the price is still high. You’d sell to more peeps if you lowered it ya know. Other instruments let you play anything but this even cool songs is limited.
Bumping this. It is very very very quite. Turned everything up to max, still quite. And i don’t mean I want whole LA to listen to SAB music, but people standing 1 meter away from me can barely hear it.
If you don’t turn up in-game instrument music (which many people don’t even know about) it is completly silent.
And yes, I would like to carry them on my shoulders:)
