I just finished going through all the levels on infantile mode and collecting all the baubles and accessing all the secret areas. Before doing so, I checked around and read that the only achievement that can’t be completed in infantile mode is “Scholar”, which is fine.

I was following a guide for the baubles and got the achievement for world 1, zone 2 on infantile mode.

I assume since people completed the baubles achievements on infantile mode (or so almost everyone said) that there would be no issues, but when I killed King Toad, he didn’t drop a chest. He was supposed to drop the final 15 baubles and dropped nothing. Does the chest no longer appear in infantile mode? The previous two cage bosses dropped chests full of baubles and he did not. To test, killed him a second time and he still dropped no chest.

Basically I didn’t get the achievements after two and a half hours of bauble hunting and I’m wondering if it was my fault, since I heard you could do practically all of the achievements in infantile mode. Is there something I’m missing?

It certainly has to be your fault, if it didn’t bug out recently. King Toad does give a chest, yes. But there are no Baubles in it. Either way, if I remember correct, it’s that those wouldn’t count anyway.

He drops a chest on normal that has a bauble bubble. You do not need this for the achievement. You likely missed something.
