Hello Mr World 2 Zone 2, I’m Slushey. Now get the ______ out of my Super Adventure Box and never come back.
I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since launch, and without question the introduction of Super Adventure Box was my favourite update released in the game so far. The world was so carefully designed and the content was a lot of fun to play; both solo and with a group. When I saw that it was coming back I was overjoyed and I can honestly say I’ve never been so excited about a release in this game prior to this.
World 2 Zone 1 was very well redesigned, and World 2 Zone 3 is probably my favourite map in the entire Super Adventure Box. I ran Zone 3 with people from my guild and we had a lot of fun trying to navigate our way through the cliffs and over the ice. But between these two wonderful zones lied the horror known as World 2 Zone 2.
The Baubles for the achievements are in unrealistic places. People who have lives won’t have any chance of actually looking for these Baubles themselves; they will have to use a guide. Was this your goal, or did you actually think people would explore? Collecting the Baubles tonight took us 3 hours while following a Dulfy guide. Imagine trying to actually find all of them Baubles yourself. It would be torture! People shouldn’t need to use a guide though, they should have a reason to explore the Super Adventure Box, not just follow somebodies path to get a reward.
The map is poorly designed. When I first saw it I thought the last two Zones were just going to have been put together at the last minute to throw in (however it redeemed itself with Zone 3). The design of the level is disgusting – it looks like a child drew the entire thing. Nothing in that level seems to fit together. Piranhas in swimming pools which can jump and fly and launch themselves at you? Temples with giant church bells? Ninja Monkeys? It somewhat reminds me of a circus. And I hate the circus. It’s not artistic at all; it’s all just random crap thrown together.
Which takes me directly on to the Ninja Monkeys. Not only do these NPC’s not fit in with the rest of the Zone (minus the randomly placed temples), the monkeys with a sword are insane. While running at you it’s impossible to stun them with the Whip, you can’t hit them with your sword because when they are within range they instantly swing at you instantly and knock you back. They knock you back every second. They dodge attacks while standing still. How are you meant to kill them? Well you usually don’t die to them, but you will probably loose 2 or 3 hearts of health at least. So what do you do if more than one monkey is attacking you? Quite simply nothing, you don’t stand a chance. The ranged monkeys on the other hand look dumb. They don’t fight back, they constantly miss you with their ninja stars and they die in 2 hits of your stick.
Now I want to talk about the Dart Traps. Yes, I quite like these. But no, I don’t like what they do. Instant death? WHAT? These should have only done a heart or two of damage at most and maybe knocked you back. But instantly killing people… Really? They are everywhere and it’s obvious they only exist to chew up more and more of our Continue Coins.
Zone 2 is also far too long. Yes, there is the Shortcut Eagle, but all the achievements surrounding it require the completion of the entire map. I’ve literally raced people through it, and all of World 1 can be completed in the time it takes to complete World 2 Zone 2. Even if it is the next world and is supposed to be harder, do you think this is reasonable?
Moving on again I would like to speak about Shortcut Eagle. This “shortcut” is more like a nightmare. The thigns which are supposed to explode on the head sometimes don’t and knock you off the back, and sometimes the ones coming towards the tail won’t even hit you and you’ll still fall off of the Eagle. I like that the Shortcut Eagle actually requires a little skill as opposed to the Shortcut Worm were you just run straight through, but at least make it so that the average player can complete it without have to loose all of their lives.
Next time the Super Adventure Box returns, please consider redesigning and rebalancing Zone 2. I feel that it’s been the only let down in the Super Adventure Box so far and I would love to see a better version of it in the future to bring it back up to the standard of the rest of the game.

I wholeheartedly agree.
No offense, but I did Bachelor of Baubles without a guide in about 2h. In fact, it was the only bauble achievement I did without a guide. I just used a video wirh the secret rooms. Just try to climb up on trees / mountains / roofs, you have usually a good view from there.
People who, as you so nicely put it, have lives shouldnt aim to get all the achievements. That’s just my 5 cents.
I agree with the OP, World 2 Zone 2 was way to long and had too much obnoxious crap in it like that horrible gong temple. Not to mention those cheap as hell sword assassins whom my stick would pass harmlessly through half the freaking time I swung at them.

I love zone 2. It’s probably my favorite zone in world 2.
Can’t please everyone.
I did the baubles without a guide as well, directly after the patch had fixed the bug for it. While I agree it was extremely annoying having to backtrack all the way to the shortcut eagle, the baubles were by no means in impossible places, or places nobody would ever look. If you’re going for the bauble achievement, you’re supposed to look around every corner and check every possible route. Like someone else in this thread, this is the one bauble achievement I got without using a guide.
The dart traps were explained. They need to be instant kill because it’s part of a puzzle later on. Knockback would be exploitable.
World 1 can be completed in the time it takes you to complete w2z2 because world 1 is a tutorial world. The levels are very short, and I’m very glad World 2 has longer stages. Otherwise we’d be done with world 2 in about 10 minutes.
Ninjas running at you are easily killed with ranged weapons. I’m gonna stop now since we’re not going to agree on any of this.
Zone 2 is fine. Learn the traps and it’s a piece of cake.
The baubles are not in “unrealistic places”. I love that you can see them from a ways off, but you can’t get there for awhile and it requires some clever platforming. Outside of 2-3, 2-2 has the best platforming IMO
I also agree that not every single player should be able to get every single achievement. Otherwise they’re not “achievements”. I know there are achievements out there I’m not getting. This may just be one you’re not getting. That is okay and doesn’t make you any less of a player.

Zone 2 simply outstays its welcome a bit. It’s too long. And yes, the assassins are annoying.

agreed with this.
I wouldn’t want the zone removed. Maybe divided into Zone 2 Part 1 and Zone 2 Part 2 or something. After finishing with the achievement I can say that for daily runs it’s just fine if you take the eagle.
Please no, 2-2 is fine.
I’m horribly saddened after what people like you did to 2-1. I beat it prior to the changes on normal, I did tribulation mode after the changes and it was easier. It was forgiving at any missed jump or mistake.
Don’t complain and whine about 2-2 when you simply need to be better.
Still better than Liadri, though. And easier too. Tribulation mode much easier and more fun then Liadri.
It’s just way too long for its own good.
