For whatever reason, when I use the flute to play songs that are supposed to do something, it NEVER seems to ever work the first time I play the sequence, I always have to repeat it at least once. This is something of a major problem when trying to get to the cave with the elite skill scroll in World 2 Zone 3 considering the spot you stand on consists of 3 disappearing clouds, which if you’re quick give you perhaps just enough time to finish the sequence of notes you need to play.

Well I’ve done that section 50 times in a row just now, and each and every time I get to the end, play the notes, nothing happens, now I fall to my death because the clouds disappear too fast for me to try playing it again. This is ridiculous, if we have to learn songs anyways we should just have a button to push to play them, or they should bloody well WORK when you play them and not decide that no, I think I’m going to do nothing even though the next time you push that same exact sequence with the same exact timing I’ll actually do something.

Seriously, please fix this.

Try hitting a note on the jump across to the last 3 clouds. For some reason there is a pause to it when you first use it . this will allow you to start the correct sequence right away. Also try to land on only 1 pad -33, 2nd pad-23, 3rd pad-31. Just get the door open even if you don’t make the jump after it stays open it seems. Now the sad part is there is a bauble in there so I’m gonna have to do it again at somepoint.

I got it while activating the flute on the way there, then spamming the sequence several times as I walked from cloud to cloud in front of the wall that needs to open. Didn’t have enough time to jump over to it when it opened, so I died at least once. But it’s by no means impossible, sorry.

Queue the whistle so it’s ready to be played before you start jumping. Practice playing the song really helps. I finished it just as the cloud disappeared.

All good tips there, but there is something I’d like to add. If you don’t jump from cloud to cloud too fast you can actually jump back to the cloud before the cluster of 3 near the rock mouth. What I did was jump to the cluster, play part of the song leisurely while jumping, jumping back to the cloud before the cluster during this, then jump back to the cluster when the clouds reappear and finish the song there. The mouth opened for me the first time I did this.
Possibly, if you hurry the notes the game might not register the song as correct, which could be why you weren’t able to open the mouth.
