With the new patch coming out and crafting being boosted to 500, will it be possible to upgrade current exotic weapons to ascended level? I know it was possible to do so with the triforge pendant and I really hope it will be possible with weapons as well.

I only have 2 characters but around 30 weapons between them (and I’m sure other people have a lot more than that), including some pretty expensive ones like “The Crossing”. Many weapons are required for build diversity reasons. Will they suddenly become vendor trash?

And what about dungeon tokens? Will dungeon weapons become useless?

It’s called a transmutation crystal.

And most of the super expensive exotics have terrible stats, so don’t say you bought them for the stats. You bought them for the skin. The skin is what gives it value.

Dungeon weapons i suspect will be left alone. Introducing Ascended weapons are not about making every exotic into ascended, its about creating yet another step between exotic and Legendary gear. And if you want the exotic’s skin on your new ascended, you can (and will probably have to) buy transmutation crystals. Its a master plan, see?

just a placeholder until you get your legendary, you dont need to make an ascended of every weapon you know.

I have always supported the idea of being able to upgrade Exotics to Ascended status. This could be done by way of a Mystic Forge recipe where you put:

- Your Exotic item
- 50 Vials of Condensed Mist Essence/10 Globs of Coagulated Mist Essence/etc.
- 1 Eldritch Scroll
- A number of T7 Crafting Mats appropriate to the item, on par with what you’d need to craft an Ascended item from scratch.

And the Mystic Forge spits out an Ascended version of the same Exotic item.

To round it out, make it so you can trade in Laurels for Vials/Globs of Mist Essence.

I agree with Zaxares, and to take it a step further, let us buy vials/glob with high numbers of badges so WVW players have a path to ascended. To time gate it, do the same as ascended are now (reduced cost of laurels + badges). The proposed implementation makes me want to just leave the game over it. I have 4 80s, with probably 15-20 weapons between them. On my engineer alone, I’d have to level both weaponsmithing and huntsman to 400 just to make a pistol and shield. That’s 30g just to get to 400 so I can start grinding to 500. No thanks.

Actually you will be able to upgrade your exotic to ascended.

First you’ll need your exotic weapon, this is the precursor and an equivalent ascended weapon (the upgrade item).

The materials you’ll need are 1 eldritch scroll, 100 mystic coins, 250 ancient scepter globs and 250 globs of ectoplasm.

Drop those on the mystic forge, take the item you get as a result (it is not important) and put it on the TP for 10g, it’ll sell right away (if it doesn’t, let me know, I’ll give you 20g for it.. )

Use those 10g to purchase around 200 gems, use those gems to purchase 5 transmutation crystals

Use the transmutation crystals, place the precursor on one side, the upgrade item on the other, select the upgrade item stats and the precursor looks, and you’re done, now it’s upgraded..

I actually hope that the dungeon weapons will have a new tab which requires 5 times the cost of an exotic, this way we can use dungeon tokens to get ascended weapons this way.
